It would suck if the Wii got taken off the market... I just bought the damn thing.

Imo this sounds like a small company that can only make a fine of so many $ towards Nintendo which poses no major threat to them. If this statement of "The court filing claims that Interlink Electronics has suffered "loss of reasonable royalties, reduced sales and/or lost profits as a result of the infringing activities of" Nintendo. has indeed caused a loss then howcome we've never heard of this device until now? It's like someone saying "Well yeah that's a great invention Nintendo but I'm pretty sure we thought of it first", follow this up with a bunch of potential real-looking-but-fake documents and you have a court case my friend.

I read this yesterday.

The Wii will stay. It'll be just another money-grabbing court case. And they won't win. The very fact that Nintendo develops games and consoles, and the other company PowerPoint presentation crap will be enough for the judge. Neither infringe on the other's profits. Besides, there is no evidence to suggest that Nintendo purposely went ahead knowing that they were copying another's idea.

Meh, don't worry about it.

Interlink Electronics Boss: Hey, remember that thing we patented? Its not the same as that new Wii-thing, but what if we make a few alterations to the pattent and sue them? At least that'll get us more money since our idea never took off.

There's always someone out there looking to get a buck. Same thing happened with the PS2/Xbox controller rumble motors.

There's always someone out there looking to get a buck.

Like that ex-pro wrestler trying to sue the company that made Max Payne because it was similar to his wrestler title 'Maxxx Payne' even though he retired 5+ years ago before the game was made  For god's sake, get a LIFE! Or bullet-time :P

This sort of thing has happened many times, and always will, some unknown company has a patent that some other large company has used in a product it released, the patent is always incredibly vague.

Whats silly is the statement of lost sales, its not like the Wii can actually be used in business presentations :P

Dont worry about these sorts of things, just enjoy your Wii :)

I always worry about this kinda crap I cant help it

Squato - December 10, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
If your really worried, this is the patent (it's something that is used in schools and offices).

So really, it is just a case of someone who has a patent that is so board that it can never be tested in a court of law. Hell, I've heard people say that this idea is just like the light gun that came with the NES, so Nintendo could sue them (not going to happen, but funny if it did happen).

Saying that, this looks like it would be another Universal City Studios, Inc. v. Nintendo Co., Ltd..

Isn't this Nintendo's verison of the same patent?
If it is then shouldn't they have no real case?

This forum is gonna get sued by the ghost of Darwin.

BrotherEstapol - December 11, 2006 09:07 AM (GMT)
Why? Cause you post here? :P

Nags - December 11, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
The only thing they touch on that is similiar is that there is a "trigger" button, and that is what there suing on while they do not touch on motion sensing or or precision aiming. This is just retarded and will fade really fast

Angra - December 11, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
Excuse my terrible pun, but this is wiitarded.

"itz keind of leik teh wiimote lol do we get ur moneys now?"

This is so stupid - like Civic said, there's always people looking to make a buck, and nowadays companies will jump at the chance to sue people ((I'M LOOKING AT YOU, SONY)). I've never even heard of this other company. Nintendo will be fine, win or lose.

EDIT: The fuss is about the fucking trigger button?! Why don't you sue Microsoft - the 360 has TWO trigger buttons

docturrer - December 20, 2006 10:17 AM (GMT)
They wont lose this case any day!

Inquisitor - December 23, 2006 12:32 AM (GMT)
Think about how much money Nintendo has. Think of the lawyers they can hire.

Pwn.

Still, no case anyway. Might get like a hospital bill refund or something.

Drake - December 23, 2006 07:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah nintendo would have crap loads of money. their probably a corporation arn't they? I reckon they'll settle outside of court if it goes that far that is

Inquisitor - December 23, 2006 02:03 PM (GMT)
Oh I have no idea about legal crap, or what exactly a corporation is, but yeah, I'd imagine they could do heaps.
