Title: Upcoming DS titles
/backslash - December 3, 2006 08:27 AM (GMT)
Rather than creating a new thread each time for a particular game where people may not really be interested in it, I thought I'd make this thread. The DS Lite & normal DS thread has mainly been about hardware whereas this thread is designed for software.
This is for discussion of upcoming game titles and the latest info on any updates/screenshots/release dates.
I'll start off

Beep, beep, beeeeeeep JoWooD have announced that their first Nintendo DS game will be Lifesigns - Hospital Affairs, a westernised version of Spike's Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta. It's a clone of Trauma Center, pretty much. The plot is said to be like something out of a TV soap, starring a young doctor on the rough road to becoming a chief physician of a hospital. Like Trauma Center, operations are carried out on the touch screen. Going by the shots to the right it's in 2D, not 3D like the game it's bluntly imitating. The official website is here, and it's due out early next year.
Theme Park DS is officially happening. GameFront reports that it's due out in Japan next March via EA. That's all we know right now.
Lastly, Pet Alien is another cartoon tie-in for the DS. It might be alright though - Nanostray developers Shin'en are at the helm, boasting that it'll use their third generation 3D engine. Expect the chance to play as all five aliens from the TV show, over 50 levels and five bonus touch screen mini-games. It's "out-of-this-world," says Henrik Mathiasen from publisher The Game Factory. It'll take a better pun than that to make us smile, Henrik. |
Click for article and screenshotsI'd be quite interested in Theme Park if done correctly. There seems to be a few sim titles now, especially with Sim City coming to the DS

Yoshi Island DS was recently released, so thats one to look out for.
Here's some DS games that I have my eye on.
Final Fantasy III (not sure if I want this... maybe)
Tales of Tempest (similar again not sure)
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright 4
My focus is on Wii for now, thankfully these come out next year (at least locally).
There's also that Kojima stock trading game that might be interested, and there's another one from Capcom that is like Phoenix Wright but instead of you playing as a lawyer you play as a stock broker, with "trading battles" where you have to buy and sell stocks trying to beat your rival .. combine a Phoenix Wright style adventure/story, and it sounds like a lot of fun :D

The only DS I'm really looking forward to is Phantom Hourglass. I actually want it more than Twilight Princess! :P

You poor man :P

It's mainly because Wind Waker was such an awesome game, I'm looking forward to PH continuing the story and graphical style.
I just hope those touchscreen controls don't ruin it
borgster101 - December 4, 2006 03:47 AM (GMT)
It should be good, we haven't heard much on it for a while, obviously Nintendo want Twilight Princess to have its time to shine for now.
But yeah I'm looking foward to PH for sure :D (but I want TP more :whistling: )

Actually I'm probably looking forward to Phantam Hourglass a little more than I am Twilight Princess too. Although I'd say that I feel this way because I know that TP is closer, even with the self-imposed delay that I've given to the game. ;)
Final Fantasy III is definitely a must for me in the future though and this Theme Park game will be reasonably decent too. I hope.
There's a Settlers game coming to the DS too as far as I know so I'm keeping an eye out for that too. But then why keep an eye out for the future DS titles when I still need games like NSMB...

You foolI tend to look foward to stuff that is closer rather than further away, because you know, I will be actually playing it sooner :P

Smart arse. :P
Seriously though, up until recently (like the past month) I wasn't actually all that fussed over the Twilight Princess. I mean, obviously I want the game and will enjoy it immensely when I get it but yeah my anticipation for it just disappeared. I would play it when I get the chance to play it, basically. I am anticipating TP again now though, especially after seeing that Zelda retrospective thing that Gametrailers did but I am just looking forward to getting my hands on Phantom Hourglass more.
That said, I will probably forget about PH as soon as I put that TP disc into my brand spanking new Wii... ;)

Heh, you probably will ;)
And yeah the GameTrailers retrospective Zelda videos, really got me into the TP mood, especially the timeline theory one! :D

^ Fucking tell me about it. As I think I said in the Zelda thread in the Console section, I came away almost surprised that the theory wasn't true after watching that video. It just made everything from all the games make sense and it did it in a believeable way too. Fantastic videos they were.
Anyway, DS titles...

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. That is all.
