Title: Jack Tretton responds to Sony losing exclusives

We really feel like we're well positioned to contribute platform-defining games from a first-party standpoint, and we're not dependent on third-party community to the degree that a Microsoft would be. That being said, you would be crazy to say that you would never entertain or not welcome exclusives. It's just a question of how deep into your pockets do you have to reach to secure that? Desperation breeds deep pockets. Confidence breeds the opposite. When it makes sense, you do the deal. When it doesn't, you pass.

This awfuly sounds like something Nintendo would say to damage control Nintendo 64. spookily similar to Nintendo's situation in 1996

Yeah Nintendo has that "dream team" philosophy back in the N64 days, and that didnt exactly work out. Strange how Sony says MS would be more dependent on 3rd parties, Microsoft Game Studios brings out a lot of quality stuff for the 360 and they've recently acquired Lionhead to be apart of that stable.

Ha! That's just typical Sony dogma. If Sony has that sort of ridiculous attitude towards exclusives, well, bye-bye loyal Playstation community. I bet you that we'll be seeing a mass exodus towards the Wii and 360. *cue sad R&B music*

I didn't even think Sony had any first party games, I thought they were all made by Second/Third Party developers... Gran Turismo comes to mind as being made by Polyphony Digital, not Sony, dont know many others... MGS is being made by Konami, isn't it? Final Fantasy is made by Square Enix, too, right?

Polyphony Digital = not first party
Konami = not first party
Square Enix = not first party

I didn't even think Sony had it's own dev team for games :/ maybe I was wrong...

out of those games, Gran Turismo is the only franchise that's 100% exclusive to Sony consoles right now, even though MGS 4's exclusive to PS3, there have been other MGS games on XBox and whatnot, and Final Fantasy games are pretty much on every system by now...

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are first-party games for Sony. There are others out there too such as the Eyetoy stuff, Buzz, Singstar and so on.

God of War is also Sony.
