Title: Six Degrees of Separation
_MetalliX_ - November 8, 2006 02:48 PM (GMT)
The theory of the six degrees of separation is that from anyone person, within six steps it is possible to link them to any person in the world, no matter how obscure the relation.
This is just basically a fancy way of me asking "Do you know anyone famous?" or "Are you related to anyone famous?"
I have several significant (read: obscure) links with the rich and famous:
1. Uncle's, cousin is Australia's number one figure skater and gold medallist.
2. Same uncle's, grandfather's, godfather was the great Charlie Chaplin.
3. Friend's, cousin is Miss World Australia.
4. My godfather's, father-in-law's, brother-in-law was one of the co-founder's of Intel.
5. One of the writer's of 'The Drew Carey Show' and 'George Lopez' shares the same unique last name as I do, and is most likely a relative somewhere down the family tree.
I realise some of these are quite obscure links, but please refrain from saying cliches such as "My Dad's, cousins's, aunty's, dog's, nephew's, owner is President George Bush" as it will really destroy the intrigue of the topic.

Ah yes. The Six-Degree theory. Quite true, really.
Unfortunately I have none. :(

My father's old friend's father was the guy who invented Candid Camera.
My father's other old friend's brother was the guy who wrote the book American Gigolo.
Both of these friends are from when my dad went on exchange to America in 1982.

Family firend who lives down the road was, back in the day, in the Army with, and is still good friends with (now Ex) General Peter Cosgrove, who although famous himself, is good friends with the PM, and knows the British PM, President Bush and the Queen of the UK. :P
That's all I've got I think...

Cousin is a soccer player overseas who's played a fair few games for Australia.
That's about all I can think about at the moment, and most likely all I have.

Mum got her car from Alan Webber's car dealership, and Alan is Mark Webber's (F1 Aussie driver) father. For the record, yes we did meet Mark.
Mum's Uncle (what would he be to me then? A great Uncle?) is a very high up person in the company he works for and has had many business trips all over the world which in turn means he has met quite a few famous business people overseas including the Trump man.
I think that's it.

My dad is like the head aviation dude in Australia? If that counts haha.
So much the head, infact, that they had to choose someone to go over to Nigeria and sort out all their international airports (write reports for absolutely everything to do with aviation), and it was him that they chose, out of everyone in Australia. Cool! It's insanely good pay and there's about 2 yeras of work in it.
_MetalliX_ - November 15, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
How can you be the head of aviation? Like a politician or something?

My dad knows all sorts of famous English and Irish rugby players because he used to be the MD of rugby club London-Irish.
Apart from that, Emma Watson (i.e. Hermione Granger) is the only celeb I know.

In Japan I met and had a brief chat with Dr Masaaki Hatsumi, who receives letters of thanks from the FBI, birthday wishes from former presidents of the united states (including Dubya) and who has had an apolstolic blessing from the late Pope John Paul II. He also was involved with the fight scenes in the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice" apparently.

Nah. Like, he manages the firestations at airports. For about 4 or 5 yeras he used to be away from home almost all the time cause he had to manage Cairns, Mackay, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Rockhampton airports all at once.

_MetalliX_ - November 18, 2006 02:31 PM (GMT)

NismoR34 - November 18, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
^ No, really. Tell her about Evo.
Moggo would shit his pants if she really did come here. Not that he comes here anymore but you know, power of persuasion and all that jazz. ;)
Decman - November 18, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)
 Somehow, I doubt she'd join. But if I remember when she's on (which isn't often might I add), then sure :).
