Title: Evo's Christmas Thread, 2006
Description: ho, ho, ho etc.
Decman - November 2, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
Welcome, Evo friends! At time of writing, there are only a measly 53 days until Christmas. Rejoice and be happy. Or not. Are you looking forward to it, or are you dreading it? "Christmas comes just once a year, it's just as well" - if you tell me where I got that quote from, then you may have a festive cookie.
And more importantly, what will be under your tree? What will that obese red-clad man (namely Father Christmas/Santa Claus/St. Nick) be bringing you??
Share your festive (ho, ho, ho) stories from Christmas past, present and far-flung future.
The only two things I'd really like to get my hands on this Xmas is the Wii and a katana (a samurai sword). :fight:
Andy - November 2, 2006 11:08 PM (GMT)
The only reason i look forward to christmas is because everyone leaves work to go on holiday, and i get free roam of the office. I get heaps of work done, and whoever is here ends up playing cricket (baseball with bouncing, for our newfound american visitors) in the corridors with a Postpak tube and a stress ball.
I too would like to have a Wii under my christmas tree... um... ahem.
borgster101 - November 3, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
I'll probably be playing Zelda on Christmas day, if I havent finished it already :P
Neo.Sanity - November 3, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
I've got a lot more work on my plate to do before I even think about enjoying Christmas.
Speaking of which I earnt myself $210 today
_MetalliX_ - November 3, 2006 05:17 AM (GMT)
As a kid I couldn't wait until Christmas, but now I'm not overly excited about it. I do however look forward to the family BBQ's which are always great.
I actually have a fair bit on my wishlist this year, but its just that -- a wishlist, so I wont be telling me parents about it, I'm old enough now to buy stuff for myself...
- Video iPod
- Xbox 360
- R/C Helicopter
- Proton Satria GTi

I'm English ;)
Well, whether you're old or not, you have to love Christmas TV.

I feel bad asking for things of my parents now that i'm olderish. But I always enjoy Xman
Ali G - November 8, 2006 12:37 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm hoping for the second season of Veronica Mars on DVD and either Red Steel or Zelda for the Wii, depending on which I buy at launch.

I wouldn't mind an Xbox360 and a Samsung 40" HD LCD with built-in tuner & game mode. But that's HIGHLY unlikely, even just the console itself is too much for all my relatives combined into one REALLY BIG relative. And since I've been living by myself the presents are getting so small that you need a magnifying glass to see them
Father: "You see this cookie crumb? This will be your birthday AND christmas present!"
Me: "Where? I can't see it?"
Father: "Right there!" *points to floor* "Bugger, the dog just pissed on it. But don't worry, although that dog has illegally claimed territory on that cookie crumb, it's still yours by default"
Me: "Thanks dad..."
Father: "Hey, no problem son! Oh look! Here comes your mother, with a mud cake made from 100% mud!"
Mother comes gleeming from the kitchen: "The dog just pissed on the cake but don't worry, it's still yours!"
--------------
So by small, I mean gift vouchers. Just in case you hadn't caught on..
I don't really like gift vouchers/money but my relatives aren't very creative. And I'm a fussy old bastard where if they get me something crap, I'll complain until they take it back and get refunded for cash to give back to me
f15active - November 9, 2006 04:58 AM (GMT)
Maybe F1.06 or a mobile phone...or both!

lol, sounds interesting...but if it runs out of fuel and you have to ditch it in my backyard, don't expect it back :P

I'm bringing this topic from the dead, seeing as Christmas is only a week and a bit away.
Has everyone done their Christmas shopping? And for those who got the Wii - was that your early Christmas present??
I've yet to do any. I think I'm doing some today. I have no idea what to get anyone.
Neo.Sanity - December 16, 2006 12:09 PM (GMT)
Done my Christmas shopping early, in our family though we all know what we're getting though, so there's no dissapointed faces. It's also good because it builds up anticipation to the day when you can finnally get to use that free gear. :D
Stevorooni - December 16, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)
Got mine finished today after spending a few hours of hell in a crowded shopping centre.
Managed to get a park in some shade, and every now and then I'd make a trip out to the car to chuck some crap in the boot so I didn't have to carry it around with me, and people looking for carparks would stalk me. I hate that.

Can't be worse than working in the Christmas section of Big W when there's a screaming kid having a tantrum knocking stuff over.
Inquisitor - December 16, 2006 12:53 PM (GMT)
Got about half my shopping done.. will have to go out next week and do some more.
Gio - December 16, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)

_MetalliX_ - December 17, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
I've decided the presents which I'm going to get for my family.
Mum: Fruit rack (at her request)
Dad: Solar powered garden lights so he can see down the drive way when he leaves early in the morning. Also probably landscape the garden.
Sister: High School Musical Karaoke Edition on DVD, and if I'm feeling generous, maybe a new TV.
Gio - December 17, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
I swear, that High School Musical movie is pure evil <_<
Inquisitor - December 17, 2006 06:58 AM (GMT)
Havn't got stuff for my mum yet, but me and my sister got stuff for my dad (his birthday is on Tuesday, so it's a double present week) including DVD's (Flying Scotsman doco, Some Mothers Do 'Av Em season 1) and british lollies and tea and stuff (he's british). Tis good stuff.
NismoR34 - December 17, 2006 05:12 PM (GMT)

Resident-Seven - December 22, 2006 04:20 AM (GMT)
My niece is over for a couple of nights (last night and tonight), so we are going to cheat and open all the pressents tonight while she is here. I can't wait to see the look on her face, I hope she likes what we got her (A new DS Lite and Nintendogs).
Neo.Sanity - December 22, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)
I'm about 600-700 dollars off buying my laptop now, plus I'm working boxing day and Saturday evening so a bit more cash will head my way. My dad owes me 90 dollars and when I get the chance I have to bank a cheque for $300.
Now I have to call Adobe about changing my Creative Suite from Windows to Mac and if so how much. That'll suck, it also sucks because I wanted my laptop in time for Christmas and I didn't get it.
Inquisitor - December 23, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
Just noticed a large collection of presents under the tree. :D
Decman - December 24, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
And ho, ho, ho whaddyaknow, it's Christmas Eve! Only a few more hours!
There aren't any presents under our tree because my niece is over. Her 2-year old hands would be going straight for Gears Of War, I know it...
Ali G - December 24, 2006 02:19 PM (GMT)
Well, because I'm Swiss, I get my presents on the 24th. Ha!
I got:
- Red Steel
- Veronica Mars Season Two Boxset
- Rome Season One Boxset
- $200 iTunes Music Store Voucher
- 5 driving lessons
- Burberry Cologne
- $50 cash
Decman - December 24, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)
Squato - December 24, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)

thebigm - December 24, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Merry Christmas Everybody!
Not quite sure what I've gotten yet...
Resident-Seven - December 25, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
Merry Xmas all. :D Woo, I got all of Futurama on DVD, I've been meaning to buy it for ages, but now I don't have to bother.
Machiavelli - December 25, 2006 12:52 AM (GMT)
Merry Christmas people! :) It's a very hung over christmas for me I'm afraid. Need turkey now.
Inquisitor - December 25, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
Merry Christmas everyone! :)
Opening presents soon when my sister comes round... should be a good day. :)
Neo.Sanity - December 25, 2006 07:25 AM (GMT)
Have a Merry Christmas guys,
D43M0N - December 25, 2006 07:58 AM (GMT)
Merry Christmas all; I ended up with $310 in cash, a new pair of headphones, and Bad Taste on DVD. That's all that's notable; the rest is just cool random stuff.
