Title: The Hardest Game Ever Made
Description: make your pick

Tell us what game you think is the hardest and why

Personally, i think that Super Ghosts and Ghouls(is that right...) is the hardest ever made, making you repeat things twice and everything. VERY fun though.
(not sure if this is the right place to put this thread)

Super Ghouls & Ghosts actually

While that is pretty hard I'd have to say the original Prince of Persia side scrolling game. Lots of death scenes due to the primitive controls. Suikoden 3 is pretty damn hard too due to the insane levelling system where there's barely a rune that kicks ass unless you spend 50 hours just levelling up. Because if you don't do that, you'll get slaughtered when you encounter boss type enemies

I hadn't even thought of that, good call! PoP 2 was such a pain in the neck sometimes, but such a fun game. the first PoP didnt appeal to me so much though...

Stuntman on the PS2 is probably the hardest game I've ever encountered. It demands perfection, and one tiny cock-up and your back to the beginning. A great game nevertheless, but as hard as rock. ;)

While I initially found Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox hard it soon becomes pretty easy after a short amount of time.

Super Ghouls & Ghosts...god damn that was a pain in the arse. I remember hiring it back in the days of the SNES and never getting beyond the first level because I got too frustrated with it. :P

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (Snes) If you manage to finish the game, you deserve a Congressional Medal of Honor. Extremely difficult.

I've found Ninja Gaiden to be pretty easy... especially after killing Alma (mainly because I got up to her initially then restarted the game with the main goal of getting pass her).

Super Ghouls and Ghosts was pretty difficult from what I remember, so will have to go with that.

I never finiched Shinobi, but thats cos its crap and gets boring. Onimusha is heaps better.

Hardest game would have to be In Cold Blood on PS1. :P

ultracrazy1 - November 1, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
There's tonnes of games I've gotten stuck in and haven't finished, and with some you can just continue a million times and get through, but that doesn't make them any less difficult.

Ikaruga would have to be up there. The whole shmup genre is pretty damn tough but I'd say Iky demands a lot compared many others I've played.

Hm... Ghouls n ghosts series is up there. I dunno how I could possibly say what the hardest game ever is... With a lot of them I just haven't really put the time in.

_MetalliX_ - November 1, 2006 01:58 PM (GMT)
I would have to agree with the original side-scrolling Prince of Persia, I can't finish it to this day.

Jurassic Park for the original GameBoy was more frustrating than hard, still have never been past the first level.

I'm going with Super Ghosts and Ghouls. Nags and I almost pulled an all-nighter trying to beat that game.

dave_cool31 - November 2, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
I've never really played any of those games actually, but a game that comes to mind as difficult is Viewtiful Joe, but it's definitely not the most difficult game ever...

Cubeoid - November 2, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Ah I suddenly just remembered that I did once play the side scrolling Prince of Persia...and it was bloody hard.

I also remember hiring out a side scrolling Indiana Jones game on the SNES and I found it to be pretty difficult as well. Not sure if I got past the first level on that one.

Heh I loved that game, oldschool FTW1 :D

F-Zero on the cube.

To label it "Demanding" is far too soft. This game "orders" you to be perfect.

NismoR34 - November 4, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
I will second that one actually, F-Zero GX was shit hot hard but never to the point where you gave up in frustration. Well I certainly didn't ever get to that point anyway and I did manage to finish it on Master and so on. Definitely a fucking hard game though.

Ninja Gaiden is clearly another one if everyone else's opinions are anything to go by, I only ever made it up to the second boss though so I can't judge the difficulty like you guys can. (and no I didn't give up at that point due to the challenge, I got distracted by other games - something that seems to happen far too often these days)

Last but not least, I think Geometry Wars is fucking hard. But then, I suck at it so you know...

ultracrazy1 - November 4, 2006 07:41 PM (GMT)
To say Ninja Gaiden is one of the hardest games ever is a pretty huge exaggeration. The combos and variations aren't really all that deep compared to a lot of other games out there. Usually it's just a matter of knowing when to block, when to roll, and what basic attack to use.
