Title: Starting a website
Description: Portfolio/Blog/Studio/Project

I'm about to start the initail work on my website, I'm looking forward to it. I'm doing this properly, you know design breif, concept work and everything. I'm going all out to see how this turns out.
Anyway, I understand the whole needing Photoshop/Flash/Dreamweaver thing is needed (which I have now! :D ). I just have a few questions on this.
1) How much is "hosting" a website, and are there any other costs to running a website?
2) Is there anything besides html that I need to know to create a website?
3) Since I'm using Flash on only certain parts of my website, is there any real hassle in getting Flash working on a website?
4) What would be the recommended picture size for upload photos to a gallery (some of mine are 3000 to 4500 pixels in size)?

Oh and a side note, what's the chances of getting articles published on the frontpage of the Evo website?

1. The price range can be from free... to how much money you can afford to spend. This involves a domain name + actual hosting of the service. There are free providers for both, but are usually limited in terms of what can be done on them, or may contain advertising. If you go with a free domain name, you might have a "username.hosting company" domain.

2. Depends on what you want on the website.

3. Flash can be simple to get running, but it also depends on what type of tools you are using to create the webpage(s).

4. You mean 4500x4500 in size (at most)? Usually it's a good idea to have around 1000x1000 at most unless the detail is required. Also it's a good idea to have jpeg compression for photos, or gif compression for art mainly.

Side Note: Depends on the quality of said articles, and what the content is aimed at.

I've got $50 a month to spend, yes it's a big budget. Since I'm working now I can afford to spend my pocket money.

I'll start writing down ideas and such tonight in my "SanityBook" and maybe next week start on my work. I shoud actually scan ome of those pages in to show you my study notes...

...HA!
