Hey, this is a thread where you can ask any question you want, anything bugging you or keeping you up at night. They can be dumb questions like "Why am I not getting some at 25?" or maths problems (the initial reason why I created this thread) like:



A number of balls of radius R are laid on the table in the form of a regular triangle with each side containing N balls. A frame is put around this triangle and further layers of similar balls are laid on it, each successive layer having one ball less on each of its sides (so the last, N-th layer consists of a single ball). Determine the total height of the pyramid (for arbitrary N ).

The above problem is an example I found online. But lets keep it simple and say you have 4 balls of d=3cm. You place 3 balls together to form a triangle and then place the 4th ball in the slightly hollow centre. Then calc the total height. and no its not d+d. :P

Anyone know how to find this? Its been bugging me. <_<
