Title: Franchise Showdown, Week 1:

What do you enjoy more? A little stealth with your story? Or a little story with your stealth?
I'm going to have to go with the immersion of Splinter Cell on this one, no Metal Gear Solid game has yet to compare in the gameplay department in my opinion. Also, Metal Gear Solid has the added annoyance (to me) of infuriatingly long cut-scenes.

I went Metal Gear Solid, I just can't play a Splinter Cell game for more then ten mintues, it just doesn't do it for me. I've finshed the first two MGS and Twin Snakes so yeah enjoy them much more.

Both series are good but as with Machiavelli I find that the gameplay that Splinter Cell offers is much better. The mechanics of SC are deeper and more satisfying.
While I like the storylines in MGS the overly long cutscenes piss me off sometimes.

I chose Metal Gear Solid purely because of Snake Eater, that game blew me away and still managed to captivate me every time I play it. It was easily my game of 2005 (yes beating a certain GCN title...) and yeah, I just loved it. I also enjoyed Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes quite a bit too so that gives me even more reason to have MGS as my choice for this poll.
As for Splinter Cell, well I have only played the original game and I didn't play all that much of it at the time due to having other games and whatever, I have always intended on going back to it but I just haven't. With Double Agent being released and the older titles being rather cheap, I think it might just be nearing the time where I go through the entire series. Especially considering it will be a long while until the next MGS game.

METAL GEAR. Best storylines ever. EVER. It's like watching a movie except I don't scream "WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED" when I watch movies.
Also...

SNIPER WOLF.

Easily Metal Gear, I will remember the storyline of that game for the rest of my life.

Oh man, I hate you for this poll.
MGS has a special place in my heart, but Raiden? That alone put Splinter Cell ahead of Mr Fancy Pants.

Metal Gear has the story and imo, awesome cut-scenes.
Splinter Cell has the immersive gameplay.
I like both so its hard to choose, but I think SC wins as I enjoy the gameplay more. I'm a bit tired of Metal Gear's restrictive camera angles and somewhat limited controls.

That is the second time I have forgotten to mention Sniper Wolf on these boards. And I call myself a fan...
Shame Nismo, shame.

Its a hard one, but I would have to go for Metal Gear just for the good times, hype, and memories I had when it was released (Solid on PS1). The story is intrigueing and to be honest, David Hayter does a better job with the voice acting than whoever did Sam Fisher. I don't hate SC, I love it, I just have fonder fanboy memories of MGS. :P Can't wait for GotP!!

R3AP3R - November 1, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
A tough one but Im going to have to say Splinter Cell, I have played the second game of both series (SC: Pandora Tomorrow and MGS: Sons of Liberty) and I found Splinter Cell harder something I look for in games.
ElPresidente - November 1, 2006 06:00 AM (GMT)
Splinter Cell is a better game series from a gameplay standpoint but its hard not to love MGS. So much so I'm picking Snake and crew for the win.
