Title: What Operating system do you prefer?

Anyway, which OS do you prefer. Note I say prefer, because alot of people (including myself) hate Windows - but use it anyway. <_<

Haven't used Mac OS since version 8 but had some awful experience with it.

I'm a gamer first and formost so Linux just limits my options.

Finally I don't hate Windows. XP is a good little program... it is just cool to hate MS.

I don't really mind either platform, where's the all option :P

Seriously, Windows for games, Linux for networking related stuff, Mac OSX for interface, I can't really decide, even though Windows is my main platform at home, I still VM Linux on it.

I use Windows. I want to use and enjoy Linux, but my experiences with it just haven't been as fulfilling and comfortable as using Windows. That said, I have a dual boot with Ubuntu installed which I use occasionally. I've never been a big fan of Mac's, although they do have their place. I know a few Apple fanatics and I guess that puts me off a little.

I use both Linux and MacOSX at uni, and I can safely say that I prefer XP. The myth that Mac and Linux are uncrashable is total bollocks, they crash as often if not more than XP. The Mac interface may be pretty but it is far from practical, so many things about it are frustrating. One example would be that there is no background to programs, so if you accidently click outside the program area your focus changes to the desktop. Linux has its good points, but it is no where near as versatile or user-friendly as XP.

Win XP. Like ElPres I'm a gamer first and the other OS don't meet my demands, plus I don't really have any usage for them either

Macintosh is my choice, for a couple of reasons really. The first being that it's really an operating system which just works, no tweaks required straight out of the box and it works wonders. The second is that it has a sleek looking interface, if all companies put that sort of effort into their interfact we wouldn't have so many problems with do it yourself computer repairs.
Lastly is that it is built for my kind of work, digital photography and graphic design. It runs the best image managing program out there (Apple Aperture), it's built so that image editing programs like Photoshop don't crash. Everything is a simple as plug in and upload. No hassle and it doesn't require the maintinance that a Windows machine does.

XP, the Mac OS's pisses me off for the same negatives that Metallix posted.
Haven't use Linux, so I can't comment.

Ive grown up with windows and used it god knows how long now its just in-built. I have to vote for Windows

I choose Windows.. although there may be many vulnerabilities and other flaws.. It allows me to do anything I want without a hassle. Whereas mac is just nice to look at and linux i have no comment becuase i've never tried it.

Windows XP Pro is good enough for me.

It has IIS so I can host stuff on it when doing web development.

I guess I've just gotten used to it, I know where everything is.

I can't wait for Vista where they've probably moved and renamed everything that I use, nothing will be compatible, I won't be able to find drivers for anything and there'll be more security holes than... I don't know... something with really bad security... a lunchbox?

Windows all the way bring on vista!
