Title: E3 2004 *56k Warning*
Description: Viva la Reggie-lution!

Spag - May 7, 2004 02:22 PM (GMT)
Well, well, as you should know, E3 is just around the corner. I post this thread not only to discuss such games as Papio Mario 2, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 2 (alot of sequels huh?) and the Nintendo DS, but I also ask why so many of these games and more are revealed BEFORE THE BLOODY SHOW! I also ask you to answer the following.

What is your most anticipated E3 title?
For me, it would have to be Doom 3. This title is looking beautiful and absolutely terrifying. I look foward to scary, late nights with this gem. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is also looking good.
What is your E3 prediction?
I predict that Mario 128 will NOT show up in any way, shape or form.

Hello - May 8, 2004 01:28 AM (GMT)
Mario 128 is by far my most anticipated title but, like you said, she'll probably be a no show.
I'm looking forward to any new games - not franchises - developed by Ninty, eg., Geist etc.

TrinityJayOne - May 8, 2004 04:12 AM (GMT)
For me it's Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2. I haven't finished either yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing their sequels regardless.

What's Mario 128? A sequel to Mario 64 I assume?

JJJames7 - May 8, 2004 05:46 AM (GMT)
Mario 128 is a game based on the demo shown at Space World 2001. Speaking of which, is there another one coming up soon?

I'm looking forward to the Nintendo DS, and the following games for GCN:

Golden Sun
Fire Emblem

Only two I can think of ATM. Will they be telling us about the Zelda disk, and is it coming out seperatly?

Also, I'm interested as to what is happening with Fire Emblem. From what I gather, the six released in Japan were on the SNES (or atleast the majority), so the gameplay would be the same as the GBA, because of the graphics. What will happen to the style of gameplay, now that it is in 128bit? Was there even a N64 version?

Nope, the Spaceworld Demo was called 100 Mario's and it evolved into Pikmin.

No footage, screenshots, or information has been released about "Mario 128" aside that it wasn't showne at E3 last year as it was "too innovative" and Nintendo did not want other developers to steal their idea/s.

I highly doubt that, the disc was purely brought out here to sell more GCN's.

The GCN is not 128bit. ;)

As for E3, well I'm really hoping that the next Starfox is going to be good, otherwise I'll be very dissapointed.

laudern - May 8, 2004 12:45 PM (GMT)
Pikmin 2 i dont really see as being that much of an advancement over the original to warrent a great deal of anticipation.......sure it may be fun, and thats what you want out of a game, but nothing more.....

star fox 2 looks interesting, and i hope can bring back the days of goldeneye deathmatch, but i doubt it.......not since GE has there been a game where its fun for everyone to camp and use proxys as their main weapon

MP2 will be great, no doubt about it

and if all the stars and the moons lined up just right, maybe we might see mario tennis!!!!! that should be a wicked game

NismoR34 - May 8, 2004 02:49 PM (GMT)
What is your most anticipated E3 title?

Metroid Prime 2, and Gran Turismo 4. (tied)

E3 Predicition?

Gran Turismo 4 will wipe the floor....

cd2 - May 9, 2004 10:50 PM (GMT)
Well start to prepare those modems of a bit of over use. E3 is only 2 days away and should create some media blowouts of pics and movies.

Oh and

What is your most anticipated E3 title?
Well that would be Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and RE4

What is your E3 prediction?

People will be unimpressed with the DS and say they should just realse the GBA2 earlier.

Machiavelli - May 10, 2004 07:51 AM (GMT)
Great predictions but what bothers me is that there's been very little substance leaked out to the media - especially the DS - not even an artists impression of what it looks like.

A new title from Square Enix will be announced for the GCN, though it may be nothing to get excited about (a la Crystal Chronicles).

Silicon Knights announce they will be releasing Too Human and Eternal Darkness 2.

Cerebral - May 10, 2004 07:54 AM (GMT)
Namco seemed to have dropped the ball with Starfox 2, but a year can change a lot (and here's hoping it does).

My most anticipated: Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, and Fire Emblem (technically no. 2)

E3 Prediction: Microsoft will anounce another disturbingly mainstream product for the Xbox hard drive, like an online webcam chatroom service. Nintendo will downplay technological advancements (again) to make way for new ways to play games, such as zero-gravity control, or Samba de Amigo-esque motion sensors. Sony will announce a myriad of home-grown sequels, as well as it's Playstation 3...still with only two controller ports.

Exciting stuff.

Shadow Knight - May 10, 2004 08:18 AM (GMT)
My post anticipated games at E3 2004 are; Metroid Prime: Echoes, Wind Waker II, LotR: The Third Age and GoldenEye: Rogue Agent

What i'm predicting and hoping is that Golden Sun GC will rock!

Iroquois - May 10, 2004 08:40 AM (GMT)
Most anticipated E3 title?
It would have to be Metal Gear Solid 3.

E3 prediction?
That there are going to be a few hugely-promoted games that will fade away in a few months.

cd2 - May 10, 2004 10:54 PM (GMT)
Well heres some Pre-E3 goodies.

Advance Wars GC has been confirmed

QUOTE
A GameCube version of Advance Wars has been confirmed and has an exact release date.

Advance Wars GC, a GameCube version of Advance Wars has been rumored and talked about amongst gamers for a long time. (Some refered to it as Cube Wars.)

Today, we can tell you that the game will be released on September 27th, 2004, provided there is not any sort of delay. In addition, the game will be at E3, so expect more later this week as we continue our coverage of the event.

Geist screens Some seem to be old ones, I'm not sure

Dynasty Warriors has been announced for the DS

QUOTE
Dynasty Warriors is announced to be released on the Nintendo DS.

Koei recently announced that they are developing a DS version of their popular Dynasty Warriors franchise. Other than Koei officially announcing the title, nothing else is known as of yet.

Expect more details from GCA soon as E3 is just around the corner.

Another Splinter cell already?

QUOTE
Pandora Tomorrow isn't even available on the PS2 and Cube yet, and Ubisoft already announced the 3rd entry into the series.

There was never any doubt a 3rd game would be spawned out of Tom Clancy's stealth series Splinter Cell, but who would of thought it'd be so soon?

Ubisoft has officially announced that Splinter Cell 3 (a title in progress of course) will arrive on the PC in late 2004, with console dates forthcoming. This great news is made even more spectacular due to the fact that Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind the original spy title, is heading up the 3rd outing.

Hello - May 10, 2004 10:55 PM (GMT)
I love the couple of days, just before E3, when everybody's trying to get that 1st bit of info, here's a fairly shitty photo of a box from cube-europe. And it's a lead-of news story, too! :o
Shitty Photo of a Box
Damn it! CD2 beat me to it!

Heheh ah sorry...

Anyway ah don't ya just love E3 here as som more interesting news... Well it is to me anyway...

New games have been sort of showen.

QUOTE
Donkey Kong: King of Swing, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Advance Wars: Under Fire, Mario Party Advanced have just been seen at Los Angeles, where E3 is going to be held.

These three titles are upcoming Game Boy Advance games that are going to be presented tomorrow when E3 finally arrives; in order to cover a little the anxiety you might have due to wanting to know what is going to be seen at the biggest event of the year, below are some images that tell us the controls of these games.

You can also see that one of pictures says "Donkey Konga", which means it is indeed coming to America!

However, no in-game screenshots have been showed, but you can wait until tomorrow to see them.

Crank out the coffee -- Nintendo's press conference will commence around-ish 3-4 in the morning, about 2 hours after Sony takes the stage. If you didn't know already, Microsoft held their press conference earlier today.

So who's staying up with me? :)

Pauly - May 11, 2004 09:38 AM (GMT)
What is your most anticipated E3 title?
Halo 2 followed closely by Zelda: WW2

What is your E3 prediction?
I predict that the DS will rock!

Hello - May 11, 2004 11:39 PM (GMT)
Do they usually show the big games at the beginning or the end of the show? Just that there's no sign of Mazza...

Screw the shoddy DS. It's mature link!!!!

Nintendo's done well this year at E3, they've really stolen the show.

New Zelda, Mario Tennis, StarFox, the DS. Kudos Nintendo!

CLL - May 12, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
Not really. There's still two days left. Something big could still happen.

cd2 - May 12, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
Anyone heards Sega's big announcement yet? Or anything about SK

TrinityJayOne - May 12, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
Choabac had posted links to trailers of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and some Starfox game in a DS E3 thread, but he's removed them so I'll put them here.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Starfox

The Starfox one did nothing for me, but check out Metroid!! On a 56k? It would take you all day? Don't care, DO IT!!! May I direct your attention to about halfway through the movie, where Samus appears to lock-on to multiple targets and fire 5 projectiles at once. By her cannon's appearance you can tell that it's a combined shot (steadying cannon with hand), but what gun is it? I haven't quite finished Metroid Prime yet so I don't know if it's new or not. Still, looks like a fucking awesome game! :D

Shadow Knight - May 12, 2004 03:42 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is looking amazing. i wasn't expecting much from Nintendo this year after their pretty disapointing showings last year, but they have shown some awesome games and the DS is looking great aswell. Thank you Nintendo! :D

MrRae - May 12, 2004 03:47 AM (GMT)
Hey trin, both of those links are for the Starfox trailer. :P

Choabac - May 12, 2004 05:48 AM (GMT)
hehe, seeing how at the moment Trin has the links mixed up..... here is the actual link for the Metroid 2 trailer

Also a link to Cube Wars - screens and the trailer.

Geist trailer 1

Geist trailer 2

Go to Game Trailers for more. :)

fishonthecarpet - May 12, 2004 09:24 AM (GMT)
This is the best E3 since the one where Hyper included all the GCN trailers on a disk :D

Oh man, I am wetting my pants here :P
Thankyou Nintendo, there are so many good games coming along!

I couldn't help but notice in Advance Wars how... un RTS it looked.... but it still looks cool.

Ninty conference quotes:

QUOTE
Over the years I know you've heard a lot of Nintendo people say we're all about the games. But guess what: we are. He with the best games wins. It's always been that way and always will,"

QUOTE
Harrison said that Nintendo's GameCube library would grow to more than 400 titles in 2004.

QUOTE
I could give you our technical specs, as I'd know you'd like that, but I won't for a simple reason: they really don't matter. The time when horsepower alone made all the difference is over.

Film Guru - May 12, 2004 10:33 AM (GMT)
My "I hate Nintendo for being ignorant" phase is totally over! Nintendo, you have more than redeemed yourselves! :D

I was, after being faithful to them after so many years, completely loosing faith in them. I was so sure they were done for, they had lost the plot. MAN WAS I WRONG!!! The new Gamecube games lined up look amazing and exactly what fans want, if not more. The DS looks stunning, and certainly grabs my attention away from the PSP, and has everything I could ever want from a portable console. Seriously. No, I'm serious. :P

The fact that Nintendo felt like all talk to me (eg. "We are going in a unique and revolutionary direction") was really ticking me off. But they're really showing they're serious about all this revolutionary stuff. I'm starting to get the shivers! What are they planning for their new console? My imagination is going nuts, and I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about what they're up to! Nintendo, please deliver like you just did the DS concerning this new console, and you will have my eternal faith!

Oh, please let it be something to do with VR...or some equally bizarre and ambitious platform. (yeah, unlikely, but here's hoping :P )

if someone asked me what the stupidest of genre crossing games would be, stealth-action with a card game would be right up there on the list. Metal Gear Acid proved me right.

omg i snuck up on you and played a card that dealt 20 dmg points! i may have stolen that from mIRC but the point remains

We know you're a Ninty fanboy Bob but that remark just made you snoop to a new low. :P

As far as I'm concerned pushing the Metal Gear series in a new direction is a great idea to keep the overall series from being stale. I should direct you to the fact that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be the last Solid game of the series. I don't think the emphasis of the combat change is solely upon cards, rather the whole turn-based combat structure. A prime example that a change in gameplay structure can excel a game franchise is with Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Spag - May 12, 2004 01:22 PM (GMT)
I never lost faith in Nintendo and for good reason. The Zelda trailer is just awesome and I can't wait to play it (so, so long away). And I've always wanted a newer generation Gameboy (my last one was a colour), but for some reason, I've never got around to it - but I will be getting a Nintendo DS, make no mistake about that.

Expect alot of new annoucements over tonight - it's only just began!

:D

no matter which way you look at it it's still a stupid concept. if they are trying to "take it to a new level" i can think of about 100 different genres to cross it with before i got to a card game.

oh yeah cube wars looks... different to what i expected
