I've got about $50 to spend on music, I have a few albums around the place but I want music from bands I like, I got into JB-HF and they were selling albums up to $25. I then looked into the iTunes music service, which yet again too expensive ($1.25 a song).
I've yet to find anywhere which will sell music at under $1 a song or a place with discounted music.

Can anyone here provide any help?

www.cdpacific.com is your friend. Albums vary in price but you probably won't find anything generally over $15-20.

If you want to look around for some obscure (but great!) music, you should check out Magnatune. You won't have heard about any of the bands, but you can stream all the music at very good quality to see what it's like. You can also choose the price you want to pay, from US$5 (AU$6.70) to US$18 (AU$24) for digital downloads. You can also choose to get a cd printed and sent which is a bit more expensive.

I bought this album, and it's really cool.
