Title: Dark Messiah

Now, this is worth a look! Have any of you heard of this game? Ever since I saw the trailer at the beginning of the year, I've been waiting with anticipation.

DM is an RPG, set in the Might and Magic world, so if you've played any of the Heroes games, you'll be immediately familiar. You play Sareth, a young apprentice warrior/assassin/wizard who's on a mission to stop the 'Dark Messiah' from rising once more. Hey, nothing new, but it works. :)

I've only played the demo, but I can tell you now, its a gaming orgasm. Playing in a first person view, the game contains an extremely comprehensive mix of swordplay and magic, and the fights are far more fluid in comparison to the likes of Oblivion. Enemies will block, dodge and parry your attacks, and their timing is perfect. You can unleash a variety of deadly stabs and lunges, and there's nothing more satisfying within this game than sticking a big blade into a mumbling orc or throwing a knife into a fleeing goblin.

Magic is great too, and after having played this game, I've become a bit of a magic user, as in most RPGs I'm nearly always a warrior or assassin. The demo allows you to cast fire 'arrows', throw ice-bolts (great fun if you cast this spell at the bottom of a staircase..."Where stranger?!"...."AH!"...*slip*...*bone cracking noise*) and lay a sort of proximity fire-trap thingy... :dance3:

Anyway, enough of my escapades! Go and download the demo from the website. Clicky! Find the demo download on one of the banners to the right. You'll enjoy it! But be warned, the download is 1.4GB.

Happy orc-slaying! :cheese:

I'll still end up getting this but the demo didn't float my boat as much as I'd hoped.

I have to say the poor optimisation of the code was a significant contributer to this.

OK, I agree, the demo isn't as cool as it could've been, but other than that, I found it highly enjoyable. Although I won't get it 'till I spice up my rig a bit...or if the game comes out on the 360. Which looks unlikely.

Yep the demo was a major let down I don't think i'll bother with this one anymore

*kick* *kick* *kick* *wait for stamina*

*kick* *stab* *kick* *kick* *wait for stamina*

*kick* *barrels fall down* *kick* *kick and impale*

Basically my run through the demo.

I Loved the demo all the different ways you could do things shit loads of fun, I must've played that demo a dozen times. Can't wait for this game to come out.

You could do stuff other than kick people? Because honestly, that's all I did.

Pfft, I hardly ever kicked the scenery around. Just the visceral combat for me. Once you get good at it, you can perform gory beheading after gory beheading. The game encourages you to improvise---there's no need just to follow the in-game hints.

In game hints my arse; once I found out about the kicking, I went through the demo at least three different times just kicking the shit out of stuff.

It was great threw a jar of oil lit an arrow on fire wanted till some walked over the oil spill and wammo roast orc.

Stabbing people in the neck with an arrow. Slitting throats, Hacking heads off, making slippery bits to make them go over the edge all kinds of good time things.

Stabbing people in the neck with an arrow ftw! Ill get this game when its in the bargain bin me thinks

How do you stab people in the neck with arrows? I've been trying that, but I usually just let an arrow off into their face. Ah well.

You have to have the adrenaline meter at full and you have to be close.
