Title: Suggestions and etc..
Mr47 - September 26, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
Here's a few suggestiopns :
1) The banner (most repeated) is too long
2) The staff it self is not active at all
3) Your behind on the news u put on the portal.
4) You should expand the sections like: PC, Xbox/Xbox360, PS related, tec
5) (misleding) In ur annoucments u put "Lottery and Reputation system" but where is it i don't see it.
6) you ned to do something different fom other forms
7) you should move th "Join Now" to the top , currently u have to scroll down to see it. Some people leave without doing that becaue ur announcments date is Aug 2 and they think this forum is dead.
Not many members are active
I hope some of these help.

Here's the main reason, we have things called "work" and "life" ;)
1. I never really notice the banner as I've got my resolution set at 1280x1024 on a 19" monitor. Plus even if I wanted to I can't do anything about it as I'm only a VIP member
2. The staff, well, they have busy lifestyles except for Estapol who's usually hanging around daily
3. News on the Portal is not for every little thing otherwise there'd be a floodgate of topics. It's not really designed to be an archive either. We just post the topics that we think people would actually be interested in
4. There's not much point expanding the Console Central since there's not exactly a heap of active threads. Plus it'd be a pain to moderate
5. You'd need to speak to Machiavelli about that. I think the Rep system has been removed as well as the Lottery for further coding
6. We did, then I stopped drawing weekly comics :P With a budget of virtually nill and lack of coders, we can only do so much.
7. I don't have to scroll for that and my web browser is at a small enough size as it is (like half the screen). But I do agree it should be relocated
And the reason why not many members are active is because it's a small community with only around 10-20 active posters. And the other reason is a majority of those who signed up was because the Hyperactive forum servers were down constantly for a while and this was basically a backup place, hence why your member number is 694

The rpg, lottery etc. system you're referring to has a major update just around the corner. Infact it is a completely new version, i've had a sneak peak at the beta version... it's much more streamlined and user friendly (loading times virtually nonexistent). It's only a couple of weeks away now.
I'll edit that particular announcement now.

Mate truth is we aren't a business, we are a community.
This place stemmed from a magazine forum (Hyper) which went astray with spamming and abuse.
I'm really confused by all these people coming in and pretending to be business advisors to an online forum. We all like it how it is.
We are just as active as any other forum out there, that is if you remove all the crap people post and just saw the well thought out, intelligent posts you would essentially get what you see here.
We make no money from this place, and attracting new members completely at random does nothing to improve our site. As a matter of fact, it was an influx of idiot members which led to the creation of this board.
This place is like the local bar: the stools are broken, the glasses are dirty and the jukebox is stuck on repeat. But the beer is good, the company is great and I wouldn't have it any other way.

With the news on the portal, we only post the major news that is based on what we believe the community are most interested in, rather than flood it with all these insignificant stories.
I think we are resonably active for a small community, I try to generate as much discussion as I can :)

You need to do something about your spelling and grammar...makes you come off as a bit of a dim-wit when you're writing like that. ;)

^ That's another thing that needs mentioning actually, not everyone is going to have an opinion on a subject and as such, not all of us will post in the same thread/s. We (as a community) are already a surprisingly varied bunch who all have our own tastes yet maintain similar ones at the same time and some really good discussion comes from that, but at the same time the discussion can be a little on the quiet side if a good portion of our users don't have an opinion on the subject.
For example, I'm a gamer who loves the racing genre and as such I enjoy discussing games like Forza and Gran Turismo. Luckily for me there are 2 or 3 other users here who also enjoy these games and as such some nice discussion can come from it, but at the same time I think you will find that a good portion of our community (who play games) don't enjoy these type of games and as a result they don't have an opinion on the subject at hand. So yeah, it's not necessarily that we are inactive, but moreso that we make our replies depending on what we want to discuss. Or in other words, it isn't as easy as you make it out to be all of the time.

Well mate, it looks like you got the mods to talk more then most have on one single threa. That is a small victory for you at least.
Now you say there are issues with the forum, well mate there always is and always will. If the system worked without any bugs, then what would make it as interesting in the first place.
As with your points that you have made, yes they are things that could be fixed about the system. Things that have been pointed out as getting fixed. Now if that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen in time. But you are mistaken in actting like you should force this place to do something, or bend to be what you want it to. When you do things like that, you will find that you will put people offside faster then you will know what hits you.
Still, there was one that I did get from your point, it really looks like you have failed to get this place and think it should be something that those people that more or less live online 24/7, should be able to find somthing to stay here. Now there is nothing to stop them from coming here, but it doesn't means we should do things to make them come here if all they will do is post crap and do nothing but make pointless posts (thats what myspace is for). So yes it isn't perfect, but then what is.
Use the super tubeway the way you want to.

@ Squato : I am not forceing any one to do anything. I felt like saying something now it's not my problem if you ignor it.
Yes i did get evryone to talk didn't i. lollo
