Title: Done and dusted
Description: Completed games
/backslash - September 24, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
Similar to the 'What game are you currently playing' thread but this one's designed for those who have recently finished a game. Whether it be FF7 you've completed for the ninth time or a brand new spanking game like Dead Rising.
I'll start off,
- Another Code (DS)
Not exactly what I was hoping for and there's still questions left unanswered, also I made the mistake of turning off the DS when I thought the game froze up after the closing credits so I had to beat it again from my previous save
_MetalliX_ - September 24, 2006 12:51 PM (GMT)
I haven't finished any games in recent times, but the last few games I finished were:
Black Xbox
Great action-packed game, a number of gameplay filled levels I revisited many times, great dynamic environments.
Tetris GameBoy Color
Not so much finished, but I finally managed to launch the rocket ship, a feat I could never achieve during the time when the GBC was current back in primary school.
Chaos Theory Online
Fantastic little online flash game which is somewhat a Super Smash Bros clone. Still play the survival mode where you verse endless opponent until your lives expire - still haven't got past 12.
BrotherEstapol - September 24, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
Last game for me was Tetris DS...yes you can actually "beat it", but when you do, you unlock the option to play endlessly for the high score. :)
NismoR34 - September 24, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
Last game that I finished was Rallisport Challenge 2 for the Xbox, awesome game that it was too. It looks hot, it sounds hot, it plays hot, hell it is just hot. Can't wait for a third game in the series.
I came extremely close to finishing Forza as well, but then the file shat itself. So that went out the door.

Lego Star Wars II (PC)
Completed the storymode clocking at 10 hours (plus 2 freeplay stages), now the tedious task of collecting lego pieces and bricks lays ahead :P

I gave up on it. I don't have a gamepad that will fit into my case (it did with my old computer, way-back-when), and for some reason, the game is getting exceedingly difficult on Episode IV Chapter 3.
And Hoth. And I'm not even going to touch Return of the Jedi. Which is a shame, coz it's a really good game; but I'm practically breaking something on my desk whenever I get to a difficult spot, but only in this game.
For Faber-Castell highlighter. Ye shall go on in peace.

I just finished Ace Combat 5. Quite an exhilirating game, and quite challenging on the difficult levels.
The choir chanting during the final mission gave it a real epic feel as well - although the pilot chatter gets a bit annoying, especially if you're repeating a mission after a failure.
quartz_donkey - September 24, 2006 11:53 PM (GMT)
Dawn of War: Great game and the single player game was quite fun once you got past the "learning" stages. Very meaty combat and quite violent if you turn on the leave bodies on field option. Even better in mutliplayer with 5 very different races to use.
borgster101 - September 24, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
Just got through Dead Rising's 72 hour mode, with the "A" ending, an interesting twist there.

Hell yeah! The last level is awesome and so is that game's soundtrack, I've been considering buying Ace Combat Zero soon as well, but I might not.
I can't remember which game it was I last finished, it might have been DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi.

Buy a Xbox360 wired controller (that's wired, not wireless). I've seen these for as low as $29 (though it might be around $40 now), anyway, reason is because these controllers have USB plugs and these actually work on PCs too! All you have to do is download some drivers from Microsoft's website and away you go
Yes, some of the areas are difficult on occasions, I know I got stuck on Hoth too. Most of the frustration leads to bad level design and not having any friends to play co-op with. And trust me, on the last chapter for the final episode, you're going to die A LOT! No matter how good you think you are, this chapter will make it almost impossible to get a 'True Jedi' rating
Zergish Zergling - October 8, 2006 04:39 AM (GMT)
eh... Starfox: Adventures. my conclusion? they should have let him keep the gun.
Neo.Sanity - October 8, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
Project Gotham Racing 3 on silver difficulty, the last trophy was too easy.
NismoR34 - October 9, 2006 05:06 PM (GMT)
Well I didn't count it considering I am not finished with the game personally, but if the above is anything to go by then I recently finished PGR 3 with all Golds. Skipped all the easier difficulties and went straight into the Golds, they are now done and I am about halfway through getting all Platinums. Finding the difficulty of these Platinums to be mixed, some challenges are hard and others are a breeze. Should be interesting to see what the later challenges are like.
D43M0N - October 9, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
Might buy a 360 controller, I've been meaning to buy a new gamepad. Thanks for the recommendation, Backslash!
Machiavelli - October 10, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
Hands down, the most comfortable and effective wireless controller ever. Don't hesitate with that purchase.
The most recent game I've finished would have to be Fifa World Cup 2006 (360), the Global Challenge was ridiculously difficult toward the end. EA seem to be recognized for having copious amounts of piss easy achievements, but the Global Challenge was the hardest 500 points I've aquired so far.
Pretty close to finishing of Oblivion too, meaning guilds and main quest line. Although I'd like to, I just don't have the time to delve into the abundant number of side quests.
D43M0N - October 10, 2006 08:31 AM (GMT)
$60 for a wired controller through EB...:S
May wait until tomorrow arvo or something, have a look around before work.

You'd think that the cone challenges and time vs. kudos would be easier but no, the developeres turned that on its head and made it really fustrating.
NismoR34 - October 10, 2006 04:49 PM (GMT)
I think the cone challenges are hard at first because the actual gates can be hard to spot, but once you learn where they are the actual challenge isn't that hard. It's just a matter of getting the right line through the gates without losing control of the vehicle as you slide it to get the kudos, so yeah I don't think they are actually that hard once you have tried the challenge a few times. It just seems harder because the racing and time challenges can usually be done by the third attempt, if not the first.
Well that's how it seems to me anyway.
Nags - October 12, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
Pheonix Wright for the Nintendo DS
Halo 2 - Xbox
Psychonauts-Xbox
Nearing the end of Indigo Prophecy.
Machiavelli - October 13, 2006 06:03 AM (GMT)
Halo 2? Damn I finished that a couple of days after launch.
Finally completed Oblivion last night, finishing up with my last achievement 'champion of cyrodiil'. I was very dissatisfied with the ending mainly due to a surprisingly short main quest line. Also, the main characters really is utterly one-dimensional. But I digress, overall this game is more than decent, I had an absolute ball with the guilds etc. side quests provide an absurd amount of longevity too.
NismoR34 - October 14, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
There is finishing Halo 2 and then there is finishing Halo 2 though Mach, so who knows which one applies to Nags.
Also, thoughts on Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) so far Nags?
Nags - October 14, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
Its been a very good Interactive Movie.
if you enjoy just sitting back and twiddling the control sticks in a DDR movement to complete action scenes then you will like it.
The game uses a couple of different gameplay's but most of them are simple things like keeping the bar in the middle and the DDR play, with a few very annoying stealth missions.
With multiple storyline branches im intriged to start the game up again for a different story, Apparently its not the same game twice, depending on what you choose.
All in all this game is good if you want a Interactive Movie, but not a hardcore game.

Angra got farther than me in Indigo so we should ask her opinion also
Angra - October 14, 2006 08:45 PM (GMT)
I have to disagree with Nags about "sitting back" during the DDR-esque scenes. Most of the DDR-type things alternate with the "push L and R as fast as you possibly can and then f*cking pray" game. I screamed in frustration more than once. But I love Fahrenheit.
Seriously, the story is...wow. It's absolutely incredible. However, there were two missions that just annoyed me to no end - FLASHBACKS. I hate when it's mandatory to beat a flashback scene. It already happened. You can't lose a memory.
Anyway, yeah. The game's ending will have you on the edge of your seat. Go rent it, you'll all love it.
.freak - October 14, 2006 09:22 PM (GMT)
o Super Mario Sunshine (GCN)
o Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Reqium (GCN)
o Tony Hawks American Wasteland (GCN)
---+ Every gap
---+ Every secret character
---+ Every task
---+ Classic Mode
---+ Every Stat point
---+ Everything!
o Banjo-Tooie (N64)
o Spider-man 2 (GCN)
o Resident Evil 4 (GCN)
All of these games I've beaten multiple times but I am always up for replaying them.
Angra - October 14, 2006 10:06 PM (GMT)
I still haven't beated RE4 because I get scared every time I play it. Actually, I literally had to call my boyfriend over one day because I was getting scared of one level in Fahrenheit.

 That's funny
The only scary scene I remember in Fahrenheit was when all those pyscho prisoners were walking around the hallways and you had to try and get out of there whilst keeping calm
I shouldn't laugh too much because I myself still haven't beaten Resident Evil 4 & Project Zero because I got too scared :P

Play during the daytime, it seems less scary. That's why I tend to watch horror movies early in the evening.
Nags - October 15, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
Then you ruin the expierience! Theres nothing like the first time you played resident evil in the middle of the night
Drake - October 15, 2006 01:53 PM (GMT)
Bullturd, playing RE at night alone is some scary shit I honestly can't deal with it
NismoR34 - October 15, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
Interesting thoughts so far Nags, Angra too. On thing though, I think you will find that the good majority of us have Fahrenheit so we don't need to go and rent it. ;)
Fahrenheit was my sleeper hit of 2005, if that means anything.
As for the horror games thing, I only play games at night anyway so in a way I had no choice but to play them at night. Which I think ultimately made the games more enjoyable anyway as it was easier to get into the atmosphere of the games and therefore really get into the games overall. Good shit right there. :D

Actually, that's the exact scene I called him over for!
The scariest games for me are by far Silent Hill. I get scared during Resident Evil because of the "boo" factor. I get scared of Silent Hill because...well, who doesn't get scared of those games?! Seriously. Those games are some of my favorites but I almost pee myself when I play them.
Don't even MENTION the game "Manhunt" to me :(

I don't think there's a person alive who isn't scared of Silent Hill. And even on your second play through and you know EXACTLY what's going to happen & when, it still scares the shit out of you. The best thing (or probably the worst thing) to do is play this on a large tv with the lights turned off and a 5.1 surround sound setup with you sitting directly in the middle. But that's almost like a suicidal tip. And can you imagine what next-gen PS3 graphics could do with the next (if there will be one) sequel?
Completed
Secret Files of Tunguska (PC).
Good but flawed adventure game

I have to admit that Fahrenheit is one of my favourite games ever. The story, everything. Wow. And Angra, Nags...join me in saying that the kettle drums in the action sequences are some of the most orgasmic in any game. The soundtrack ROCKS. Especially with Theory Of A Dead Man licensed to it.
Slashy, I'll agree with you. PZ scared me shitless. I can't play it on my own. I have to have a friend with me. "THE ROPES!"

Finished the 50 cent game on PS2 thank god it's over. I dont know about everyone else but I just have to finish most games
NismoR34 - November 25, 2006 04:33 PM (GMT)
Bumped just to keep this thread reasonably active.
I recently finished Condemned: Criminal Origins on the Xbox 360 and I came away thoroughly impressed by the overall experience. In-depth thoughts of mine can be found in the 360 thread but whether you read that or not let me just tell you that I definitely recommend this game to anyone after an immersive experience.
Calling it immersive would almost be an understatement put it that way. The atmosphere and eerie feel that the game has just makes a satisfying experience. Buy it, rent it, play it. I'll be very surprised if anyone comes away from the game disappointed...
markymark - November 25, 2006 10:57 PM (GMT)
Last game I finished I think was Colossus... because not too long after that I developed my Warcraft addiction.
I have kicked off a second round game of RE4 though which I haven't played in a long time. Good to be back. Although I'm thinking I'm better off waiting until the Wii hits so I can play it through component cables :D
D43M0N - November 26, 2006 12:01 AM (GMT)
Running through GRAW, up to mission 3 :\ I did finish the Medieval 2 demo though.
