I'm a huge fan of the Smash bros games and im definitely getting this one, but does anyone actually know anything about the game? you know like the wiii thread ppl put up reviews and what it was capible of. I need someone who knows their games to tell me about this one.

No one knows much about it yet, for a start we know that Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series is a playable character, and there are likely going to be a couple more third party characters in the final game, Sonic seems an obvious choice though this is not yet confirmed. The game will probably be online (again not 100% confirmed, but its a fair assumpion) and its graphically looking quite nice from the trailer :D

There seems to be a new item (that looks like the Smash Bros logo) which enables a "super special attack", the new characters in the game that have been announced so far include;
Pit
Zero Suit Samus (actually a special feature of Samus, kind of like Zelda and Shiek)
Metaknight
Wario
Snake

Thats about all I can think of at the moment.

Mario, Link, Kirby and Pikachu are also comfirmed to return. :)

Yeah I think so, but it was only what we saw at E3.

I'm still pretty pissed that Snake will not have any type of gun when Samus, Falco, and Fox obviously will. I suppose there's a bit of a difference between a pop-space-fruity-laser and an AK-47. Why must we think of the children! :P

Haha, yeah well you answered your own question. No way there is going to be real life guns in a game that shares characters like Pokemon. Still Snake can handle himself in hand to hand combat, plus he'll get explosives! :D

I doubt it, expect some missing characters from Melee in the new game, Game & Watch is a likely candiate for one of them.

I donno, I'd say that the majority of characters will make a return. Remember, size won't be that much of an issue compared Melee, since the discs can only like 4x as much.(I'm pretty sure that GCN discs were single layered, and that Wii discs'll be dual layed DVDs)

I'd actually prefer it if the cloned characters like Falco, Ganondorf and Roy where either removed or redeisgned to be unique characters. I'd rather have all unique characters even if it meant a marginally increase in total characters relative to Melee.

If you take out the clones in Melee, there really isnt all that much new characters compared to the N64 original. Also, I'd say characters like Marth and Roy probably wont come back, they'll likely be updated with new Fire Emblem characters since the games have now released locally, like Ike.

yeah because to be honest Ganondorf and Mewtwo were similar and they both were not very well thought out characters. If they were made better that would be one more reason to get a Wii.

I've heard a rumor that Roy would be dropped for the addition of Ike. I'm not sure about the authenticity, but hey. I dont mind Roy, but i mostly use Marth.

I've also heard something about them getting rid of Kid Link? And adding a Windwaker version?

It might not be true lol. I agree, i like Roy somewhat just because he is another option, similar to Marth, but still has differences in style.

All speculation at this point, my guess is that we wont know anything official until sometime next year.

And R3AP3R, Ganondorf was a clone of Captain Falcon not Mewtwo :P

I think that Sonic would be an excellent character, but because of his high speed levels, they should lower his weight and attack.

BRAWL CONFIRMED FOR 07'

Well, we can safely say that we will be playing SSBB in eight months, which sadly enough is awesome news. This game doesn't have much text in it, so it wouldn't take too long for them to translate it. So hopefully, Ausytalia will be getting this at the start of 2008

Yeah it's nice to see another confirmation for 2007, though depending when in 2007 it releases in Japan and US that could mean either a late 07 or more likely 2008 release in Australia.

Nintendo Australia would be incredibly stupid to not release it at the same time as Europe. So many of the online stores here import PAL games from Europe on a regular basis. With a title as large SSB, I really think that word would spread of europe getting it early, and we'd see lots of people importing.

That said, I think we'll actually get it before Europe...it's happened before. ;)

We typically get Nintendo console games around the same time as Europe, sometimes later, sometimes earlier, so sorry Dec :P

Does anyone else hope they just jam pack the game with characters?

I mean I want it to be well balanced, but it always feels so much cooler when you are using some character that no one else uses, do you know what I mean?

Online is pretty much a given, even though there hasnt exactly been an official confirmation yet.

I want to see a good variety of characters, and would love to see more 3rd party characters get thrown into the mix. :)

Bowser? Please, this is the worst update yet. Great, now we know that a big ugly turtle is going to be in Brawl. Bowser was by far the WORST character in melee Nintendo is really letting their standards slip on who is getting into Brawl these days. Seriously, no one likes Bowser so why put him in the game?

yeh Bowser's pretty good, just really slow. He's really annoying sometimes, though, because of his highly powerful moves.

I think we all respect and kinda love bowser, I reckon he means within the context of the game. Honestly he shits me to tears and I too want him out.
