Title: Henshin a-go-go! (again!)
Description: VJ2!

DJ-Civic - April 25, 2004 01:55 PM (GMT)
Yes, that's the sound of Viewtiful Joe 2. Thanks go to Capcom for making a sequel to one of my favourite games. :D
The original was tough, yet kept you wanting more. And the visual style is so unique.

Gamepost posted an interview with the game's creator, Atsushi Inaba Right here, so go read it. :P

Here's some art of the game which looks cool. Oh, and it's also headed to PS2. :) (boo! ;))

Anyone else looking forward to it? That 2 player co-op mode sounds great!

thebigm - April 26, 2004 01:51 AM (GMT)
I am eagerly awaiting this game... Now Civ how many times have you seen may say that... well one more wont hurt I guess.

Hopefully Co-op will be done properly, and the possibility of having a lan feature for the co-op would kick ass.

Question - April 26, 2004 06:44 AM (GMT)
The background environments look very different...strange...I hope Capcom implement the co-op to good use...mmm...reminds me off Double Dragon back in the day

?

Also reminds me of Super Contra Co-Op. (Hardest Game Ever)

Hopefully they better Viewtiful Joe and deliver another Master Piece.

Question - April 26, 2004 09:37 AM (GMT)
I agree super contra was so hard...I am pretty sure Capcom can deliver a stellar game...but you never now most sequels never usually supass the originals..e.g.Splinter Cell:Pandora Tommorow's single player which is nothing new

?

Now worries dude. Posting my thread here won't hurt either. ;)

I think the idea of co-op LAN sounds good. Both characters could move independantly through the stage until the boss, where co-op comes into play. :D

I still can't defeat that damn Hell Dog thing on kids mode!!

I'm definately looking out for this though, as VJ is a fantastic game..although I wish they would "clean up" the graphics a little.

Haha, kids mode is for kids. :P Seriously, just keep trying. :)

And I agree that the graphics need "cleaning". Looks like there's "debri" on the edges of characters and objects. But meh, they still look good.

Manny M - April 27, 2004 11:59 PM (GMT)
The rest of the game is relatively easy on kids mode, but that damn boss....I just don't know how to kill him, but i'll figure it out soon enough.

Stupid debri, they really need to clean it up and sharpen the edges...

Machiavelli - April 28, 2004 10:46 AM (GMT)
Co-op...nice.

Making it split screen would be a terrible choice, surely this won't happen. A shared bar could work, but unless they make the VFX bar more economical in 2P mode, that bar is gonna go so damn fast.

Naclj - April 28, 2004 03:47 PM (GMT)
yeah co-op is the bit that im looking forward to the most. dont know who id play with but if i could itd be great im sure.

although how does slow mo work with 2 players or mack speed or zoom for that matter. mabey you have just 1 vfx metre thats shared between the 2. or you might have to simultaneously activate the special moves.

ok thatd be confusing. but could be a lot of fun.
as long as they have a final boss as good as the first 1 then im sold

has there been any news on wether capcom will actually make the game for both systems or will the cube owners be stuck with a port from the ps2?

The ghost who walks - April 30, 2004 06:51 AM (GMT)
don't worry hij4ck3r, they're developing both versions at the same time (i think), although the gc version will most likely be released first, as the gc is much easier to develop for :P.
VJ2 shall kick arse!(hopefully...) :D

I think you'll find that PS2 owners will get the "dumbed down" version. Good for a change, I say. ;)

The ghost who walks - April 30, 2004 04:44 PM (GMT)
you're probably right, because after all, the ps2 is considered to be the 'mainstream' console, so it would only make sense to make the game appeal more to the mainstream audience by making it easier. :D

borgster101 - June 7, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
I'm interetsed to see how the co-op mode will work, since apparantly the VFX powers will effect both players (i.e. Player 1 uses a VFX power, it will have an effect on Player 2).

Apparantly there is going to be an easier mode in VJ2, since the first one was considered hard for a lot of people, even on Kids mode, I think it's going to be similar to the Sweet mode that was availble in the re-release of VJ1 in Japan.

Sounds all great to me :D

DJ-Civic - June 7, 2004 01:16 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I wonder how 1 VFX and 1 life meter will work for 2 players.

Manny M - June 8, 2004 12:42 AM (GMT)
Either a hell of a lot of co-operation, or a hell of a lot of real-time punching....between the people playing the game.

Iroquois - June 8, 2004 02:17 AM (GMT)
Great - VJ1 was pretty good, even though I still haven't got around to finishing 2,000,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The co-op mode looks like it could work too, but how'd they fit it on screen?

Me smells the DS coming into it...

I'm guessing that when 1 player activates a VFX, both will be able to their thing. And 1 life bar could have 2 "layers" so it doesn't run out as fast...

Considering that VJ2 comes out this year and that the DS has no connectivity to the Cube, I'm going to say no on that. ;)

Iroquois - June 9, 2004 01:15 AM (GMT)
Stupid me.

Viewtiful Joe 2 Reviewed !!!
IGN.com

It earned a 9 out of 10 :D , which is great since it looks to be similar to the orignal but still contains the great viewtifullness, hence a nice score :) . It looks like if you loved the original (who didnt), then you'll enjoy the 2nd game as it contains everything you loved and more.

Thankfully I believe this comes out next year for us PAL gamers, with so many on the plate for 2004 end, it's nice to have some great stuff to look foward to in the coming months after the new year :D .

DJ-Civic - November 12, 2004 02:38 PM (GMT)
Yeah, good score. :D
And the game coming out next year is a blessing as there's too many games as it is.

Gio - March 27, 2005 12:54 PM (GMT)
How come I could see several copies of VJ2 for PS2 but not GCN? (In EB)

DJ-Civic - March 27, 2005 01:33 PM (GMT)
It's meant to come out on April 12th, so they've gotta be fake boxes. (Or it was released early...on PS2...)

borgster101 - March 28, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
No it is coming out on GCN and PS2 on the same date.

Gio is hallucinating again :P

~DC - March 28, 2005 06:15 AM (GMT)
To be honest I also thought it was out already for the PS2 as well. I guess that must have been the original I saw, as it was only going for $49.95 as it is...

DJ-Civic - March 28, 2005 12:23 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing VJ2 won't be the usual 99.95 as DVDcrave have it for $70.

~DC - March 28, 2005 12:32 PM (GMT)
$79.95 is the RRP for the Playstation 2 version so I gather the GCN has the same.

borgster101 - March 28, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
Yep, it's going to be a little cheaper, I want to get this, but Resident Evil 4 has made me forget about any other game at the moment, I should be finished with it by the time Joe comes out though.

DJ-Civic - March 29, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
Gonna get this over DVDcrave then.

Manny M - March 30, 2005 05:52 AM (GMT)
Oh man, not another good title. I'm up to my armpits damn it, and I still haven't finished VJ1.

borgster101 - March 31, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
I didnt ever finish VJ1 in Adults mode, got up to the Fanatstic Five or whatever it was called (facing the bosses after eachother) and I just couldnt ever get passed it, I was never able to get up Fire Leo. :(

Oh well, I still was able to complete the game in some form and I still enjoy the game, hence I'll get this :) .

~DC - March 31, 2005 06:47 AM (GMT)
I had the original and just found it far too tough, even on Kids mode.

Manny M - March 31, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I got stuck at Fire Leo. Never did figure out how to beat him.

~DC - March 31, 2005 07:07 AM (GMT)
To be honest I just couldn't be bothered. Unlike some games that are difficult but have a certain appeal to make me keep coming back to, Joe simply was too annoyingly tough for me to keep retrying.

DJ-Civic - March 31, 2005 01:36 PM (GMT)
Are you kidding? It was tough-ish at some points, but all you have to do is memorise the enemies attack patterns and use your FX powers at the right moments. I almost finished it in V-Rated, but a wave of the other games came and didn't have the time.
Apparently VJ2 is easier though, so no excuses about not finishing it. :P

~DC - March 31, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Well some of the spots I played were just tedious, I knew what to do just couldn't execute it. I had only played about three chapters or so beforehand and even then it was just a chore fighting through the levels.

borgster101 - April 1, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
I loved the orignal, (even if I only completed it on Kids mode) yes it was hard, but that had nothing to do with the game screwing you over, it was a difficult game, but once you understood that patterns of the boss, you could complete it, amazing amount of satisifaction after beating Fire Leo for the first time :D

Manny M - April 2, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I absolutely loved it, but could never bloody figure his weakness out. IT drove me very mental.
