Title: Will you be remembered?

Random Hero - July 7, 2006 02:59 PM (GMT)
Do you think you've left a big enough impression on anyone yet besides family and friends? Or do you think you'll make your mark on the town/city/country/world in later life?

I guess I have a fear of being forgotten. It's not just an ego thing, but by all my friends, people i've known etc. I feel like they'll forget about me and what I did for them ...(if I DID do anything) if I suddenly dissappeared for a reason I've been struggling with. And I wanna know if anybody else has that same fear as me?

I don't think anyone will be remembered better than Princess Diana, some 9 years after her death and they're STILL talking about it in papers (like those diary entries or millions of 3D re-enactments). Let her rest in peace for god's sake, not with paparazzi taking snapshots of themselves standing next to a skeleton and trying to sell it for big $$$

Sorry, I'm trailing off here. I don't think I've left a big enough impression, the little girl who got raped and murdered in the public toilet will always have better support and she was only 8. I'd have to die in some obscure way to be remembered, but as for making a landmark, I doubt many would care unless I posted on every forum in the world and left a will for someone to make my final post

It depends, I guess in the short term it would be important, but over time you'll be forgotten for sure. I don't think I'll be remembered...most people have trouble remembering me while I'm alive lol.

If being remembered by a few thousand people world wide counts then probably :P - I've invented a few footbag (hacky sack) moves and I'm the first non north american to be on the IFPA board of directors - Huzza for me.

Suity - July 13, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
Nope, I'm on the fast track to nothingness.

At the moment, I think being remembered for more than 50 years after my netherworld shuffle would be an achievement for me.

Only if I get my novel published and it is labelled as the greatest literary work since Catcher in the Rye would I stand a chance of being remembered.

*Stuey Griffin voice*

"So you're... nearly... finished that book? Got a... protagonist, hmm?"

So, in summary, I don't share your fear... but I think it'd be nice to be remembered.

I think that unless you're rich, powerful, or feared... You WON'T be remembered... Sure... Fmaily and friends might.. but they get on with their lives, move on to the next phase.. Kind of depressing actually...
but truth be told, the average person is just not 'good' enough to be remembered.

Actually. That's a bit scary.

I could be the youngest state delegate in Massachusetts... that might be some random fact that could be remembered, and if i get involved in politics later in life hopefully i will be remembered

Resident-Seven - March 22, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
Everyone will be remembered for a time. Who really cares if you're remembered as long as you are enjoying your life?

I think JFK beats her.

Really? They are still coming up with theories as to how/why she died.

Hitler
Saddam

Are two that I think will be remembered longer, which is sad.

Hell yeah; you guys will get all warm inside when you realise that the best games designer (in the future of course) frequents the forums you do. :P

Well, yeah, but JFK pops up in the paper every now and again too, and he died ages before Diana. Though you're probably right about Hitler/Saddam.

Decman - March 24, 2007 09:55 AM (GMT)
Trust me, the Diana conspiracy is plastered over the tabloids in the UK. However, her death was very suspiscious, and many believe that it was either Mi6 or HM Secret Service that bumped her off.

The tyres or the brakes on the car that she died in could easily have been tampered with. You guys should watch The Queen: it's recently just came out on DVD and it did really well in the UK and Ireland. It's about the Royal family just after Diana's death.

I've left an impression on people from all around the world, I'll be remembered by some. I want to go into comics and be remembered for my riveting storylines and characters. Then I'll be fine.

Sidewinder Oblivion - April 11, 2007 10:55 AM (GMT)
I could be, might be, don't think I will be.
