Title: Evolution News

[m]averick - July 5, 2006 12:12 PM (GMT)
I'm just wondering who is editing, or overseeing the articles that are posted on the Evolution main page? I mean, I never read them, merely glance at the first few sentences, and the grammatical structure, and sometimes the spelling, is pretty atrocious. In a forum post, no one really cares about it too much, but in what is, seemingly, an attempt at journalism of a high standard, it's a bit lacklustre.

So, sup?

It's hardly "an attempt at journalism of a high standard", and many news additions merely quote other sources. Besides having just gone through all of the more recent additions, there have only been one or two minor spelling mistakes.

What does confuse me is how you can first claim that you "don't read them" and "merely glance" at them, and yet still have the nerve to insult the staff of these forums for the effort they put in to actively contribute to this online community.

So stop baiting for an arguement, and rather than complain about a non-existant issue, contribute in a proactive manner and attempt to meet this "high standard" you have set for everyone else, which you have so spectacularly failed to reach.

Honestly I haven't noticed any significant spelling mistakes, the news on the main page is really for convenience, allowing everyone to get the latest news when they visit Evo rather than be "an attempt at journalism of a high standard"

On the subject, there has been a lack of news in the gaming scene lately, with the post E3 "summer" (or winter over here) drought, so apologies for the lack of updates recently.

Firstly, I could only assume (from the spelling, grammar, language and syntax) that this was a somewhat serious approach at credible journalistic reporting. Secondly, the lead-up to the construction and addition of this section, which was, meant to be an online magazine of some description, also makes one surmise as such.

And you would assume therein lays the problem. If I'm merely glancing at them (having never actually clicked a link, and simply reading the excerpt) and I can notice spelling and grammatical errors, then surely there is a problem?

Lol. The inherent flaw of Evolution raises it's ugly head again. Someone offers an inquiry, and was to follow with more constructive criticism, after the general inquiry, but the Evolution people decide the best choice is to stop the 'troll' in his tracks.

Mach's trained you well.

I knew you'd have no problem with the news. Try and keep up with the School Certificate. Also, for note, an ellipsis = three.

EDIT: Now we wait for Mach's shoot from the hip response. CRITICISM? LOCK! BAN! HEIL!

Honestly Mav, you know full well these posts on the portal are only intended to present recent news to members. None of the forum staff are journalists nor have we ever claimed it, and to insult our efforts is hardly constructive criticim. My response was not a result of your assumed training of us by Mach, but rather an expression of my personal disgust at how you can be so shallow as to take a stab at voluntary efforts made by members to benefit this online community.

Perhaps before you continue with another of your ingenius retorts you could give evidence of this "atrocious" display of spelling and grammar? Also, bare in mind that such spelling mistakes as "speeling" instead of "spelling" are unfortunate side-effects of keyboard use, more commonly known as "typos" rather than an indication of poor spelling abilities.

Mav, you wanna be a VIP and show everyone how it's done? :)

Seriously, you like the idea of joining? We need more people to write the news up.

Even I don't have the time for it.

Sometimes a shoot from the hip complaint requires a shoot from the hip response. It's impossible for me or anyone else to grasp your clumsy grievance without a concrete example of it. It shouldn't be too hard considering it's atrocious and all.

I love that clip, I had the original(no text) ages ago, but I could never find out what it was actually from. :(
