As some of you probably already have read their is a name released on InvisionFree 2.0. Zetaboards, how this will effect Evolution has yet to be determined. I quoted Brandon and Seth in their topic on the support forums to show you exactally what we know about the upcoming Zetaboards change.

QUOTE (Invisionfree Founder/Admin Brandon)
InvisionFree is proud to officially announce ZetaBoards™ (what has previously been referred to as InvisionFree 2).

The ZetaBoards software will be a full upgrade for InvisionFree. It already has gone through thousands of hours of design and development. While it is designed to be familiar to current InvisionFree users, it will have hundreds of new features. Nearly every aspect of InvisionFree will be improved: from the PM system, to the admin logs, to security, to attachments. Administrators will find their tasks much easier and faster to perform. New members will have an easier time learning how to use your board. Experienced members will also find many useful new features in our software.

ZetaBoards is intended to offer the benefits found normally with self-hosted forums in the ease of a remotely hosted free environment. ZetaBoards software has been designed from the ground up to allow multiple forums to run easily on the same server. Your remotely hosted board will be able to have a wide variety of modifications easily installed to personalize your board.

As we approach the release of the ZetaBoards software we will be providing screenshots and details on some of the new features. We will be upgrading the support board and providing a test board for members to get acquainted with before upgrading all boards. You will be able to opt out of the upgrade if you are not comfortable with an immediate change.

Since the name InvisionFree would not fit the new software, we will be changing our name to ZetaBoards. Both URLs will still work, so the transition will be easy. We will guide you through the URL change process and the upgrade to the new ZetaBoards forum software.

We will still be a free service. You will not lose your board in the upgrade. The upgrade will be done to all InvisionFree boards for free, without any required work on your part. We look forward to many more years of hosting with you!

QUOTE (Invisionfree Admin Seth)
Name FAQ

I don't have a domain name! My members will no longer know how to get to my board.
We will keep the invisionfree.com domain active indefinitely. Your members will automatically be redirected, and you can switch over at your convenience.

What does this mean for my search engine rankings?
Since the old URL for your board still works, no search engine ranking drop should occur.

Can I use the word "ZetaBoards" in my new resource board's name?
ZetaBoards is a trademark of Zathyus Networks, Inc. If you wish to use this trademark in association with your board, there are guidelines you must follow. Please see our Trademark Use page for more details.

ZetaBoard coding is changing from the IF coding, it will be alot easier to work with and obviously more user friendly. Personally, I can't wait to sink my teeth into this bad boy, expect alot of new features and cool specialties once ZetaBoards hit Evo! :)

UPDATE:

QUOTE (Invisionfree Founder/Admin Brandon)
The first public beta testing of ZetaBoards has begun. We have selected a few members from the support board for this first round of testing.

This beta team has already been selected and we will not be adding to it. The next beta stage will be open to all users of InvisionFree and should be beginning soon. The next stage will begin once acceptable quality standards have been reached for the software and we have performed a security audit.

ZetaBoards is an all-encompassing upgrade that will take the place of InvisionFree's service. ZetaBoards features enhanced moderation, automatic protections against spam bots, a post search, a new PM system, and an enhanced skinning system, as well as many more new features and enhancements.

ZetaBoards Public Beta Release

The Official InvisionFree Announcement | Test Board

QUOTE (Invisionfree Founder/Admin Brandon)
We are pleased to announce the first public beta testing of the ZetaBoards Service.

All visitors 13 years or older are welcome to join the test board at http://beta.zetaboards.com/test/

While you can visit the test board starting immediately, you will not be able to register your own personal test board for a few days. We will make a follow up announcement once registrations are ready to be tested.

We will be posting a summary of all ZetaBoards Service features at a later date. Features may still be added during the beta period. However, we will not be accepting any feature requests.

We ask all those who wish to join in the test to be respectful of others. Please read and follow all posted rules and announcements posted on the test board.

Feedback and bug reports will be very important to our final work and bringing the ZetaBoards Service to a full release.

Finally. :D

Full Release Of ZetaBoards

The next level of release for Zetaboards has been announced by Brandon of InvisionFree.

At this point we can not upgrade to Zetaboards, it is estimated that the changeover feature will be implemented within a month. Once this becomes available Evolution will make the transfer to Zetaboards. :)

So does this mean we're changing skin again?

Stevorooni - December 7, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Does this mean I'll finally be able to remove my finger that's plugging the coolant leaking hole in the side of the forums?

We've become somewhat attached to your finger being there... I mean it physically is attached :P

Auto-Converter News

QUOTE
Since it has been some time since we opened up the Conversion process to those of you with IF boards, I wanted to give everyone an update.

As you may know we're are currently working on an Auto-Conversion process that will drastically speed up the process of conversions. Unfortunately due to some complications, this has taken longer than we initially expected.

I want to make sure everyone is aware that we're doing everything we can to make sure that the Conversion process is smooth and safe for everyone's board. When I have a better idea of when the Auto-Convertor will be completed and activated I will let everyone know.

I appreciate everyone's continued patience with us as we work to get this process completed.

Thanks
Brandon

Even if it's just of the "hang in there" variety, it feels good to know what's going on. :)

/backslash - March 17, 2008 07:06 AM (GMT)
We might as well face it, we'll never get to see this update. I mean c'mon it started in June 2006! Pathetic

Ninja Catfish - March 17, 2008 09:03 AM (GMT)
I don't think I've ever used a ZetaBoard based forum...

I assume it's better than Invision?

Robert - March 18, 2008 04:16 AM (GMT)
It's taking far to long but I wouldnt say it's never going to arrive.

Conversion Process Update

QUOTE
We're happy to announce that a new round of InvisionFree to ZetaBoards conversions will be performed in the next two weeks. All boards that are opted in to be converted will be converted in this round.

I understand that many of you have been patiently waiting for a conversion. We've been working on two particular features that we wanted to have completed prior to converting more boards. All boards, converted or native ZB, will have an individual moderator feature installed as part of this process. This will be in addition to the Global Moderator and Admin Assistant functions. Additionally, converted boards will be given full access to the Admin CP ticket system to allow them to receive support directly on their board.

We'll release more information about the timing of these events as soon as it's available.

Brandon, Brian, Stephen, and the rest of the ZB team.

Waiting patiently went out the window months ago! :P It's been a lengthy wait, but Zetaboards here we come. :)

/backslash - September 23, 2008 03:29 AM (GMT)
Jesus christ, 2 weeks?! That's what they said 2 weeks ago
I won't believe it until I see it :P

Unrelated: Nice av & sig you got there Mach

borgster101 - September 23, 2008 08:39 AM (GMT)
Is it 2 weeks in Earth time?

Could be on the moon, one night lasts 2 weeks therefore that's like 12 hours ZB time. With that in mind it'll take roughly 28 weeks to complete or more if another delay occurs because their timezone is in another dimension

Decman - September 23, 2008 10:35 AM (GMT)
Ahhh! That's fantastic news, about sodding time. But yeah, I'm expecting this with a significant degree of trepidation.

By the way, it's clearly 2 weeks Plutonian time. That is, 2 weeks Plutonian time if Pluto were taken out of our solar system and placed at the other side of the galaxy and still forced to orbit the Sun.

Erm, guys? The human race might might be extinct. :P

Will we still have the internet though? :P

Cheers, I was actually saving them for Zetaboards but noticed you and borg changed so I thought what the hey. They look suspiciously similar, you guys aren't going down that road again, right? >_<

Without resorting to porn links & viruses galore or actually paying for it, I'd say yes

ZB has the potential to excel in the Hosted Forum Market.
