I've been getting pretty into my chess recently, so I thought I'd start a thread.

Perhaps if there's enough interest we could have some kind of evo chess tourny down the track. In the mean time, I'm certainly up for playing a game by PM (or multiple games).

So who plays chess? Favourite openings, etc?

I'm a pretty casual player, I'm not really one for openings but my mid to end game is fairly decent. I've been doing pretty well in our uni chess club (7-1) but they're all pretty much beginners too. I'm a pretty attacking player and I usually play for a quicker win rather than drawing things out.

I haven't been going very well against my brother recently.

We played three games the other day and he won 1-0 (with two stale mates). The worst bit was that I was in a clearly winning situation in two of those games and just gave the match away with horrible blunders.

I also lost a game to him yesterday that I was ahead in, but part of that was that we play this rule where if you do a really stupid move you can take it back, which he did after I took his queen. So if we'd been playing "properly" I probably would have won. Though, I still fucked it up pretty badly. I just had to move my queen over a couple of places and my almost trap for his queen would have been a proper one. Oh well.

lol, I pwn at chess - I have been beating my brother like everytime I play him lately. Chess is boring though. I have more fun scratching my balls.
