I'm so sorry but I just couldn't help myself. :D

I think the award for best RPG will have to go to Mass Effect.

DJ-Civic - May 7, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Mass Effect seems to have something about it that's making me keep an eye on it, despite that I'm not into RPGs.

Now I'll copy Mach's idea;

I should've seen it coming. Stop being such a stickler :P You've already made a mockery of the RPG category with your regularity, you can at least vote in the other groupings to make up for it... you lazy, lazy man. ;)

JJJames7 - May 8, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
I don't know a great deal about the upcoming games, I'm just interested to see what Sony and Nintendo can do in terms of thier new systems. That, and the new Zelda game coming out on GCN. And perhaps some decent PSP releases.

Oooh, Half-Life 3 or KotOR III?

Random Hero - May 8, 2006 05:18 AM (GMT)

That's really all I can say now, I'm looking foward to what MS will show with the 360, as well as what DS games will be on show, and I will certainly keep an eye on the PS3 stuff, but I really can't answer the rest until after the show :P.

Machiavelli - May 8, 2006 07:48 AM (GMT)
Come on borg, you the master of the portal, should be able to come up with some predictions for E3. ;)

Nintendo fan GET! :P

Wii just seems the most interesting, how brilliant/non brilliant will the controller really be? Will people be walking out of the show thinking the Wii is the future of gaming, or will it be a nice diversion/different way of playing but not replacing classic controls, or will it be over rated? Again, I'm certainly interested in some other stuff as well, but Wii just has me thinking a lot more than anything else.

Spag - May 8, 2006 08:38 AM (GMT)
I'm mostly concerned with Nintendo simply because I am so interested for details on the Wii and Wii games. There's also some great DS games coming out on the horizon.

It will also be interesting to see some more details on the PS3 as we haven't heard or seen much of it since last E3. I hope they've changed the boomerang control; that thing is an abomination.

BrotherEstapol - May 8, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
Biggest Surprise
Zoonami Project?

NismoR34 - May 8, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't be able to use your template Mach as it is just too hard to make guesses or predictions. Come and see me after the show though and I'll be happy to discuss things forever. ;)

The two games I'm looking forward to seeing at the show, the most are Metroid Prime 3 and Test Drive: Unlimited. I couldn't really care about any other particular game although it would be nice to see MGS 4, Vision Gran Turismo and Halo 3 if they happen to appear. I wouldn't mind seeing a game from Quantic Dream too, but I don't think they have one prepared so I'm not expecting it. Console wise, well no surprise to know that I'm looking forward to the Wii the most. I must admit though, my eye is looking in Microsoft's direction more than it is Sony's...

Machiavelli - May 10, 2006 04:41 AM (GMT)
Well I gotta say, so far it's a tie between Microsoft and Nintendo for most impressive. Red Steel is too sweet to pass up. Sony trailing not too far behind, but only pegged down to a lower place because that entire conference was far too embarassing. :P

Now, once E3 actually starts and we see knew things, all this may change.

DJ-Civic - May 11, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
Nintendo has dominated this E3 imo. They've had the most new software and Wii's controller looks great to use.
MS isn't too far behind as it has shown some great games for the console, including my personal favourite, Gears of War!
Sony.... they attended E3 this year? :P

borgster101 - May 12, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
Yeah Nintendo has dominated my attention, and I guess E3 as well, there has been a lot of games (and some suprises) many of these games have been reported to be working very well with the controller, some apparantly need some work, but overall when looking at how it works you just want to play it. And lets not forget the quality DS showing.

MS has had some decent games up on show, and graphically is pretty much on par with PS3, many games that are on 360 and PS3 are in fact only playable on 360, which doesnt look good for Sony.

The best announcment for the PS3 would probably be the price, even though it's still pricey having a cheaper model does help.

thebigm - May 12, 2006 03:15 AM (GMT)
I think that the price is what's really killed E3 for Sony, along with the piss poor attempt of implement a motion tracker (one game they showed with it, other devs knew nothing about it).

MS Look good, although I will have to catch up on a lot of things from them soon.

But it's Nintendo's show for me, everything just seems to be above the competition in terms of "new" / exciting and potential.

borgster101 - May 12, 2006 03:28 AM (GMT)
Waiting time for the Wii have been up to 4 hours, in comparison to the PS3 which has been 30 minutes!

_MetalliX_ - May 12, 2006 03:28 AM (GMT)
PS3 have come unprepared, its almost as though they were taken by surprise by the innovations made by their competitors. I mean their boomerang controller was shot down, and the new model is almost identical to the previous one, only this time it seems they weren't capable of making it wireless and have force-feedback. Their console looks more at home on a kitchen benchtop and there is even a video floating around the web of a display PS3 freezing at E3.

For me Nintendo have the best of the show, in the previous generation anyone would have said they were down and out with poor performance here and overseas (non-Asian nations) but they really do deserve a standing ovation for their amazing accomplishments. Where Micrsoft took their controller and ripped out the cord, Nintendo had already done the same, but including motion tracking. Their console is powerful enough to compete, yet almost 1/4 of the size of the other consoles.

BrotherEstapol - May 12, 2006 06:22 AM (GMT)
Well the PS3 controller is wireless, but apparently the reason they didn't have rumble was due to it interfering with the tiltometer.
Though there's speculation that the real reason for the lack of rumble is due to that lawsuit that was against Sony and Microsoft from the original creators of the rumble system that they are using. Microsoft payed them the royalies and left it at that...Sony fought in court for longer, then gave in and payed them the royalies...and now they've taken the rumble out all together simply cause they don't want to pay them more royalies.
I'm sure that they could have left the rumble in the controller and had the tilt...if Nintendo can have full 3d movment in their controllers, and have rumble, I can't see why Sony couldn't add rumble to their controllers.
Oh wait, maybe it's cause Sony only added the tilt feature in last week.

_MetalliX_ - May 12, 2006 07:25 AM (GMT)
I meant wireless and rumble. As in, it didn't seem as though they were capable of implementing rumble with the wireless controller.

Suity - May 12, 2006 12:54 PM (GMT)
Apparantly, (I heard this on the 1up podcast) that the tilting controller is actually well implemented in the Warhawk game and they claim it is even more useful than the analouge control. This doesn't change too much really, Sony still copied Nintendo but maybe it won't be as bad as it sounds right now.

I've got to say that Assassin's Creed looks the most interesting to me, followed by Metal Gear Solid 4.

DJ-Civic - May 12, 2006 06:01 PM (GMT)
That's the other game that caught my attention; Assassin's Creed. Looks good so far, and since its coming from the guys who did Prince of Persia it should be good.

NismoR34 - May 12, 2006 06:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it is an interesting title. I was very happy when I first saw it announced pre-E3.

Anyway as most people here say, Nintendo completely owned E3. Metroid, Mario, Zelda on the Wii (not to mention other titles), DKR 2 and Yoshi's Island 2 on the DS. Easy victory really.

Microsoft's showing has been good too, although quiet. Test Drive: Unlimited is still my second most anticipated title (was my first until I saw Metroid) and will be up until release. Too Human also looks great, as does Gears of War and so on. PS3 has its fair share of good looking titles too but as I said elsewhere it just simply isn't their 'time' yet for me personally although their 'time' will come.

I agree with you, Nintendo did own the show with all their IP's but what about new content as well...

Going off the 1up podcast...

People at E3 have been saying Too Human looks like ass and handles very badly to boot, defintely not one of the more popular ones at E3. Crysis and MGS4 are one of the best looking at the show, which is not suprising.

Well considering that in the past few years, there's been very little new IP's released at E3, I think this year was a major step with games like HAMMER and that Day of Crisis game.

Stumpflower - May 19, 2006 09:50 PM (GMT)
Nintendo is going to shopw up everyone, oh wait, they already have.

Looks like the Xbox 360 got the most, with a spectacular 23 awards. In comparison, the PS3 had a solid 3 awards. :P

borgster101 - May 24, 2006 07:22 AM (GMT)
Yeah well considring the 360 had more complete solid software on show since the console was released in November in the US, this isn't a suprise.

DJ-Civic - May 24, 2006 03:22 PM (GMT)
It just shows that the 360 is worth the admission price, and it'll be even more enticing by year's end. Should be a great end of year games list! Then there's the Wii/Zelda too. :D

Random Hero - May 24, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
it will be interesting this time next year when sony and nintendo have had a chance to cement themselves like microsoft have.....somehow i still think the 360 may come out on top i mean halo 3 will be playable not to mention stuff like forza 2 anf fable 2 etc.
