Title: Microsoft comments on PS3 launch announcment

In a recent interview with Fortune Magazine, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made some comments regarding Sony's announcement of a 'global launch' of its PS3 system in November. In the interview Ballmer said;

"In every other generation, the first guy to 10 million consoles was the number one seller in the generation. Did we just get an even better opportunity to be the first guy to 10 million? Yeah, of course we did."

Ballmer's remarks were that the Xbox 360 would remain the number one platform this holiday season.

In addition Ballmer downplayed the significance of the PS3's Blu-ray disc drive suggesting that there isn't going to be a lot of content in either the Blu-ray or HD-DVD formats this year.

These comments are rather standard from the competition these days, will the Xbox 360's 'first mover advantage' pay off for Microsoft, come this November? Only time will tell.
