Title: General Bargain Thread
Description: For all consoles

/backslash - March 18, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
I noticed an old Xbox & GCN one, but no PS2 one. And considering X360 & PS3 is upon us it'd be much easier to post any bargain for either of the current consoles on the market. I'll also be notifying you forumers when there's another 15% off storewide Kmart sale. I'll get the ball rolling:

Prince of Persia: Two Thrones (PS2) - $35 @ Harvery Norman
Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) - $35 @ Harvey Norman
Resident Evil 4 (PS2) - $49.95 @ JB Hifi (I think, could've been Kmart/Target)

Cubeoid - March 18, 2006 02:02 PM (GMT)
At the Kmart in Bendigo (don't know the situation with the rest obviously) they are clearing out a lot of Xbox games as you would expect. Some of the games were still a bit pricey though.

DJ-Civic - March 18, 2006 02:10 PM (GMT)
$50 for RE4 PS2? Hmm, interesting possible purchase...

BrotherEstapol - March 19, 2006 06:17 AM (GMT)
You still don't have RE4?
You stupid n00b!

borgster101 - March 19, 2006 08:41 AM (GMT)
Civ does have it on GCN, he's probably considiring the PS2 version for the extra Ada missions.

BrotherEstapol - March 19, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Ahhh, fair enough.

Off topic but I wonder what the PC version will turn out like.

DJ-Civic - March 19, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
Who's the n00b now, huh? :P

I wouldn't mind getting it, even if it meants playing it on inferior hardware. ;) At least the game still plays as good.

borgster101 - March 20, 2006 05:37 AM (GMT)
I'm interested in the PC version if it means I'll be able to play the Ada missions from the PS2 game, but only if it's cheap. As for how it would actually play, I dont know... not sure if it'll be as good without the controller.

BrotherEstapol - March 20, 2006 08:30 AM (GMT)
You kidding? Third person games work like a dream with the old WASD/Mouse combo. ;)

DJ-Civic - March 20, 2006 02:04 PM (GMT)
I don't know about that. I think 3rd person shooters are a gamepad thing imo.

BrotherEstapol - March 21, 2006 08:41 AM (GMT)
Donno why you'd think that, they pretty much just FPS's but with the camera zoomed out...go play one of the Max Payne games on the PC, then play it on a Console. The difference it pretty big.

borgster101 - March 21, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
Yeah but RE4 doesnt really control like a FPS Estapol.

quartz_donkey - March 21, 2006 11:26 AM (GMT)
But it could borgy it could.

And umm which chainsaw is cooler? I like the box for the PS2 one 'cause of the cord draw but it didn't seem to have a stand? Eh GCN one looks a bit better but I do wish it made the chainsaw nosies like the PS2 one.

Gio - March 22, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Yeah if anything the PC version of RE4 would have superior controls.

borgster101 - March 22, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)

Perhaps, but I'd imagine it will be a lazy port.

/backslash - March 24, 2006 10:58 AM (GMT)
Lumines - $32 @ Kmart (the one in QLD anyway) With the 15% off storewide sale they had it would've only costed a measly $27!!! Goddamn I wish I owned a PSP

Gio - March 24, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
More like $427! Get it?

DJ-Civic - March 24, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
No

Oh wait, I think I do....

:P

Has anyone found an Xbox 360 for $199 yet? ;)

/backslash - March 25, 2006 04:29 AM (GMT)

More like $396 with another game included :P You're looking in the wrong places

I did, but that's if I handed in 450 PS2 titles at EB's trade in ($1 per game)

Cubeoid - March 25, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)
You can pick up Oblivion (for the 360) at Target for about $89. Knock a bit more off for the good old coles myer discount card. :P

/backslash - March 30, 2006 09:11 AM (GMT)
God of War PS2 - $28
Tekken 5 PS2 - $28

or both games for $40 at JB Hifi. Needless to say I'm verrry tempted to purchase Tekken 5 standalone especially since it comes with arcade ports of Tekken 1, 2 & 3. I've only played the 2nd one and that was at someone's house

NismoR34 - March 30, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
Holy shit, that is a good deal. Are those games Platinum or 'normal'?

Suity - March 30, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
It's not just at JB they've gone done to that price everywhere, on DVDCrave, sellers on eBay etc. though I'll go get it just because it's both for $40

Lucky I read this actually because I was just about to by both new for a total of $48 but postage.

Jiro - March 31, 2006 06:03 AM (GMT)
i can get a DS for 130 and a Camecube for 50 from work, ex-display not in a box

great to be an employee at a large computer department store :P

Suity - March 31, 2006 06:40 AM (GMT)
And yay me because I picked up both those games this morning (Tekken 5 and God of War) and to answer Nismo's question they are in platnum cases which is a bit of a shame but I can deal with it.

Platinum. But I saw Harvery Norman had both the standard and platinum version at the same price, which was $29.95

EB games are having another sale, 2 for $50

Most notable games include:

Fahrenheit Xbox/PS2 - CHEAP! YOU BUY!
Lumines PSP (couldn't find any other PSP games in the pile)
*pauses*
I've forgotten the rest, but I'm pretty sure there were a few more decent and recent ones

markymark - April 2, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
I shall have to check it out...

/backslash - April 3, 2006 07:22 AM (GMT)
15% off Target

Target's got a 15% off storewide sale at the moment (excl ipods & console hardware). I think it ends on Tuesday/Wednesday

Suity - April 3, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
Yeah saw that on TV, might head into the city to check if they have anything decent as right now I'm trying to catch up on the classics of the PS2 and GCN.

Unfortunetely no gamecube games at my local EB :(

EDIT: Just picked up Metroid Prime 2 for 20$ at Toys r Us. They also had Soul Calibur 2 for the same price which I'll probably pick up on the weekend.

Random Hero - April 13, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)

STOCKTAKE SALE!

DVD Crave are having a stocktake sale on selected titles on all consoles/handhelds

http://dvdcrave.com.au/default.jsp

After having a glance at the PS2 titles I spotted these:

- Resident Evil 4 $49.95
- Shadow Hearts Covenant (2 Disc) $39.95
- Killer 7 $49.95

Aside from that, nothing spectacular. I was hoping to see Xenosaga on the discounted list but alas no

/backslash - May 23, 2006 06:16 AM (GMT)
Another sale - this time at Kmart

Went to Kmart in Morley yesterday where they were selling various games cheap. Alot of them sucked but thery had some sweet deals for PSP users.

Titles included:
King Kong - $30
GITS:SAC - $30
Ridge Racer - $35

There were a couple more but it wasn't a big selection. You've just gotta find the gems amongst the truckload of crap

BrotherEstapol - May 23, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)
You mind stating what plaform said games are on? :)

borgster101 - May 23, 2006 12:40 PM (GMT)
Target sale

Metroid Prime Hunters - $50
Oblivion (360) - $80
DOA 4 (360) - $80

Some others too, pretty good saving on Metroid especially :)

DJ-Civic - May 23, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
Might go and buy it then.

Also for those wanting the DS Lite, Myer are going to sell it for $188 as an introductory price, so its a good saving. Most of the new releases are $59, like Metroid, Mario Kart, etc.
You can also buy the WiFi dongle for $45!

NismoR34 - May 23, 2006 04:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I have basically covered my entire DS purchase now thanks to these sales. Target don't only have Metroid Prime Hunters for $50 but Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and Tetris too. I have already bought Animal Crossing online but $150 for the other three sounds brilliant to me.
I should be able to pick up the Dongle too, if it's at $45. :D

BrotherEstapol - May 24, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
BTW, the Lite will come with a Brain Age demo for those that didn't know. ;)

Check out all the sales in their catalouge:

http://target.com.au/html/catalogue2256/2256/2256e17.jpg

Another notable to the ones already mentioned is Mario and Luigi for the DS: $59.95.
Though the best ones would have to be Animal Crossing, Metoid Prime Hunters, Tetris and Mario Kart for $49.95 each. :) (better get them while your CML discount card still works Civ! :P)

I was chatting with my mate who works at the sound bar up the back yesterday, and he had a catalouge which was marked with the stock they do and don't have.
He had all the DS games except for Metoid Prime. :(

As a side note, that catalouge has the DS Lite on the front, yet the Lite isn't due out till the 1st of June, yet the catalouge finishes on the 31st of May. :P

Well the game doesnt release till Thursday, as indicated in the catalogue, hopefully I'll find it. From the sounds of it, we'll be able to get WiFi multiplayer happening sooner thanks to these sales, :D

All that I listed from the Kmart sale were PSP games (thus why I mentioned sweet PSP deals).

As for King Kong, I've seen it at Blockbuster for $30 on PS2 and Xbox brand new. If you're interested, I could buy it for you and send it over there since it's located within 20 metres of my workplace
