Title: What are you listening to?
Description: Your current fave album/song
DJ-Civic - July 18, 2004 01:11 PM (GMT)
Basically this thread is to post what song, album, LP, cassette or whatever you're listening to. You can share your thoughts on the them and recommend/make fun of someone's pick. :P
To start us off, I picked up the new Beastie Boys song today, Ch-Check It Out which simply has a cool beat. I saw the video clip yesterday, which was funny imo, and the song got stuck it my head. I recommend it. :)
TrinityJayOne - July 18, 2004 02:15 PM (GMT)
I'm listening to the same thing I always listen to- Jpop, Final Fantasy soundtracks and the Dandy Warhols (aka greatest band ever).
BrotherEstapol - July 18, 2004 02:49 PM (GMT)
Lots of Punk, Emo, Game & Movie Soundtracks, and some other random stuff on my list.
My listening habits don't really change too much, it mostly just gets added to. ;)
But at this very moment, I am listening to:
Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin
This fits into the random catagory. (awesome song though)
Gnomey_g - July 18, 2004 04:22 PM (GMT)
In my stereo at the moment are the debut releases by local Black Metallers Sacritual, Zijl and The Kabal. All are very solid releases, the Sacritual and Zijl releases are particularly gnarly. They rival anything to come out of Norway for the last few years. They'd easily get signed if they weren't from Australia.
MP3 wise I've been listening to:
Windir - The Spiritlord
Zyklon-B - Warfare
Zyklon - Zycloned
Gorgoroth - Possessed (By Satan)
1349 - Antichrist Warzone
Amon Amarth - Thousand Years of Oppression
NismoR34 - July 18, 2004 04:43 PM (GMT)
Chimaira - Down Again. (My favourite Chimaira song at the moment, awesome piano work while still retaining that awesome metal feel. :))
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters. (Heard it recently on the radio and liked it so much I went and bought the Black album. I can't get enough of this song.)
Space Boy - Initial D soundtrack. (It's an Initial D song, 'nuff said.)
GT2 - July 18, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
Wahoo, another forum to post this on!
I was listening to Weird Al - eBay Song, but the track changed mid-post, so now it seems I'm listening to The 5 6 7 8s - Woo Hoo.
~DC - July 19, 2004 07:08 AM (GMT)
Tool - Hooker with a Penis.
Summary ~ Maynard in an angry mood.
A Perfect Circle - Orestes.
Summary ~ An all-time favourite of mine.

Descendents- Dry Spell.
They're the top 5 at the moment ;)
Spag - July 20, 2004 11:49 AM (GMT)
In Flames - Clayman
Pinball map is by far In Flames' best heavy song. Also very good from this particular album are the tracks; Only for the weak, Satellites and Astronauts and Bullet Ride

I'm just downloading a whole bunch of Billy Corgan / Smashing Pumpkins / Zwan bootlegs from www.billy-corgan.com. Also I just picked up the new Beastie Boys record. I'd recommend it, but certainly don't expect Hello Nasty two, because this one is much more hip hoppy.
Manny M - July 21, 2004 04:14 AM (GMT)

System of a down: steal this album
tombot. - July 22, 2004 08:30 AM (GMT)
Last week i picked up
Jebediah - Braxton Hicks
The Streets - A grand dont come for free
The Strokes - Room on Fire
The Jebs album is great, one of their best i think. A Grand dont Come for Free is a bit dissapointing, not as good as Mike Skinner's first album imo. Hopefully it will grow on me. Room on Fire is more of the same from The Strokes. Which isn't a bad thing.
~DC - July 22, 2004 09:43 AM (GMT)
Tool - Salival.
Metamorphic - String Quartet Tribute to Tool: Volume 2.
Ratchild - July 22, 2004 12:31 PM (GMT)
I'm listening to the Kill Bill: vol 2 soundtrack, in particular all of Ennio Morricone's music, which I think is amazing, and Malaguena Salerosa by Chingon.

In case you didn't already know, the album's supposed to be one-big story. That might help a bit...I actually really enjoy the disc. However, after awhile, the novelty of the story somewhat wears off, and some of the songs are anything but decent.
I'm currently listening to - and have been, non-stop, for the past few weeks - a 'Ghost is Born' by Wilco. She's a truly great album. If anybody's looking for a pop record, that is completely interesting and original, then this should be right up yer alley. It's a grower, but once it has sucked you in, you'll be hooked. Great stuff.
Machiavelli - July 23, 2004 07:40 AM (GMT)

Let's get it Started (Let's get Retarded) - Black Eyed Peas. (Another awesome song from the Black eyed crew)
Enter Sandman - Metallica. (Another brilliant Metallica song which I can't get enough of)
Down Again - Chimaira. (Probably my favourite song from Chimiara yet, just a brilliant song.)
Life for Rent - Dido (a brilliant singer and a brilliant song)
White Flag - Dido (again, a brilliant song.)
quartz_donkey - July 25, 2004 12:37 AM (GMT)

His first album told a story as well, but in more subtle ways. It was day in the life of Mike Skinner the same as A Grand dont Come for Free. It took a few listens before you picked everything up though. With his current album it seems to be way more forced. Its like he planned this story (where he loses a thousand bucks), then tried to write the songs.
The first album also had a lot more slower songs, where Mike actually sings. I like this a lot more than the pommy-rap that preoccupies the majority of the second album.
jawbreaker982 - July 26, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Jawbreaker- Bivouac.
Jawbreaker- Pack it up.
Alkaline Trio- Sadie.
The Dwarves- Let's fuck.
Guttermouth- Surf's up, asshole.
Rise Against- Like the angel.
Ice Cube- Gangsta's fairytale.
Pretty much the same ol', same ol'.
Cubeoid - July 26, 2004 11:00 AM (GMT)
I'm listening to a few Chimaira songs at the moment, namely the awesome Pure Hatred and Down Again. And most of the songs from The Impossibility of Reason which is a seriously good album.

Anyway I haven't really listened to anything since that last post, the Dido album got a good run last night before I went to sleep but other then that it has been nothing. Gnomey needs to get to work again I think.. ;)
Plug It In - Basement Jaxx

Do you like the first two songs on the other album (Speakerboxx and Ghetto Music)? Last year when I was OS
Ghetto Music got a lot of airplay (I'm suprised it wasn't released as a single in Oz) and I was really hoping the whole album would be like that. Have to admit that for me The Love Below was a bit disappointing.
At the moment I'm leaning back towards the Prodgy FOTL in preparation for their next album, though nothings going to live up to MFTJG.
Lazlow - July 28, 2004 07:02 AM (GMT)

Not sure man as I haven't heard them unfortunately. I heard Roses on the radio a few times and as I said it grew on me so I downloaded it and yeah. Didn't particularly like Hey Ya so I'm not sure if I'll like any of their other songs or not.
Gnomey_g - July 28, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
Over the past few days I've been listening to songs by the following bands:
Chimaira
Darkthrone
Gorgoroth
Carpathian Forest
Dargaard
Burzum
Amon Amarth
Emperor
Zyklon-B
I'm finally warming up to Darkthrone and Gorgoroth! Huzzah!
