Description: 3 compilations and a remake...
ultracrazy1 - February 18, 2006 09:53 AM (GMT)
Recently Capcom held a press event to show off some new titles and progress on some games we've known about for a while. The new games mentioned were:
Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins
A remake of the classic platform game with updated graphics
Power Stone Collection
Ports of the Dreamcast games Powerstone 1&2
Capcom Puzzle World
Super Puzzle fighter 2, Block Block and Buster Bros.
And the latest builds of some other games were shown, including:
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, which includes:
The original StreetFighter
Strider
Captain Commando
1941
Final Fight
Side Arms
Avengers
Block Block
Magic Sword
Quiz Dragons
Varth
Three Wonders: (the following 3 games)
Midnight Wanders
Chariot
Don't pull
Also shown were Monster Hunter Freedom and Mega Man Powered Up.
Such a great time to be a PSP owner and a Capcom fan :)

Indeed, Capcom are showing some great support for the PSP, makes you wonder why Resident Evil was chosen to appear on the DS , since other games would probably be more suited..

Wow. Not a new game there. And all but two from the snes era or before. Woo go the all powerful PSP. Hey I know PONG remake. Yay!!!!!!
ultracrazy1 - February 19, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
Monster Hunter Freedom, Mega Man Powered Up and Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins are brand new games.
Also Monster Hunter Freedom, Mega Man Powered Up, Ultimate Ghostsn Goblins, Power Stone 1 & Power Stone 2 are not from the SNES era.
What are you saying quartz_donkey? $70 is too much money for 20 games? How much did Super Ghouls n Ghosts, Mario world, Mario Bros 3, Final Fight, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 and tonnes of other SNES generation ports cost on GBA?
When Zelda collector's edition was announced you were probably like "fuck that, they're old games," yeah?
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 05:48 AM (GMT)
Umm I don't have it(unless your thinking of the one that came with windwaker well thats the way the game came), so Yeah. And they're remakes.
See,see and see. Not that there's anything inhertanly wrong with that but they're not new.
Ghost and Goblins is old. Mega man is old. So that leaves Monster hunter and Powerstone so yeah two three if you want to count Powerstone one and two.

Which GnG game has shields? Which one has upgradable armour? Which one lets you hang from ledges? Its the new one that is more than just a visual update. They're calling it a remake, but if you had any interest in it at all you'd see that there are some significant differences.
As for Monster Hunter:
| QUOTE (ign) |
| Building upon Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter G (both on PS2), Monster Hunter Freedom includes new missions, additional features and content adapted for the PSP system. |
Megaman:
| QUOTE |
All of the stages and enemies have also been redesigned using computer rendering for realistic motion and detail. New features include the Mega Man Challenge 100, two new bosses, and the ability to play as the boss characters. Also included in the PSP game is a new construction mode, where you can create your own Mega Man stages and trade with others (locally or online) to challenge friends to your own dastardly creations.
|
Megaman is a remake of an early 80s game FFS, one of the first platormers. Do you really expect them not make a fair few changes?
The three games I mentioned have new content, ranging from completely redrawing every object in the game, to adding new characters and abilities.

Read the bloody articles you linked to and say that again.
And FYI, you're saying Powerstone is the only new game there? Thats a dreamcast port.
What the hell are do you expect from them? They're putting far more of their back catalogue onto PSP than onto GBA or any other portable system, and they are making new games. There's nothing else they can do FFS.
Let me guess, you're 14 and I shouldn't be arguing with you? You say megaman and GnG are old games like its news to me.
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 07:26 AM (GMT)
Gauntlet and diablo have radom dugeons making them "new" everytime then? Come on. If Capcom say they're remaking a game then they are remaking a game not making a new one. Hell there will prob be more new content then in a EA sequal. But still not "Brand new."
Now I know yopu spent a lot of money on your shiny fragile prob never leaves the house toy there but there is only so much self justifacation you can delude yourself with.
Oh please don't stop playing this is fun.
Bite, go on bite it.

I didn't buy my PSP, it was a gift. Personally I wouldn't have spend $400 on it, I would've waited for it to drop in price.
Is that the issue here?
Really man thats pretty weak. Clearly this is a great selection of games for the PSP and to look for fault with it is just stupid. The list of great games just keeps on growing with gradius portable, tekken dr, SFA3 and more. Forget about how much it costs, new consoles are pretty much always overpriced but you just wait.
Really fucking weak man. If someone bought you a PSP you'd change your tune pretty fast and probably be as excited as I am about these games. Is it the games or the price tag? Be honest man.
Fuck this is why I hate message boards. You get all these dickheads who are truly deluded ripping into games and technology they can't afford. IT IS A SEPERATE ISSUE FUCKWIT.
Man I would ban you straight out for being such a fucking fanboy troll.
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 08:23 AM (GMT)
How am I a fanboy man? I don't have a DS. The problem is the stagnation of the games being released. How 'bout something new? The PSP started well then meh. And if I had a PSP I'd prob be playing monkey island on it.
ultracrazy1 - February 19, 2006 08:29 AM (GMT)
Take out the word fanboy and the rest of what I said remains valid. I'd given a huge list of awesome games that many people never got the opportunity to play and the best you can do is disregard them as unoriginal.
Fuck you very much.
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 08:53 AM (GMT)
And if they have a PSP prob have a snes emulator on it anyway. Surely a new system is for new games. I have my old consoles
for my old games. Oh Alien Brigard how I loved you(still can't figure out how to kill the last boss). Best graphics I ever saw on ye old 2600.
And it sounds all the more convincing if you can do this without swearing.
ultracrazy1 - February 19, 2006 08:59 AM (GMT)
So you just don't like retro compilations on any console period? O_o
borgster101 - February 19, 2006 10:10 AM (GMT)
There's nothing wrong with remakes or classic games re released, but they are not everyone's idea of a worthy purchase :)
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
Remakes or endless sequals in any media('cept maybe books Oh riftwar novels will you ever end) are just non-progressive. That being said I did buy RE remake but it was on sale for 20 bucks. I never got to finsh it on the playstation(see I have one so it's nothing against Sony).

I understand that dude. It is possible to not like something and not act like a complete fuckwit though as quartz donkey is doing. You don't see me in the Ico and SotC threads making several posts about how I'm not interested in them.
Really borgster, I don't need that explained to me. If anyone needs explaining its morons like quartz donkey who need to learn to shut the fuck up.
borgster101 - February 19, 2006 10:24 AM (GMT)
I was just saying it in general ultracrazy :) , but it's clear that you two are not going to agree on this, which is fine, quartz_donkey doesnt have to buy the games, and ultracrazy can enjoy them.
quartz_donkey - February 19, 2006 10:30 AM (GMT)
Thats right I wouldn't of said anything past my first post but he asked me a question then it became fun. Esp' since TV sucks the goat balls tonight.
Hmm I like chocolate.
BrotherEstapol - February 19, 2006 03:23 PM (GMT)
Quartz stop baiting ultracrazy, ultracrazy stop letting quartz bait you. :P
That said, if I had a PSP I probably wouldn't buy this...but that's only cause I never really played the old-school Capcom games. :)

Guys, the Dreamcast wasn't so popular back then, only a few hardcore gamers bought the Capcom games. Most people played Silent Scope, VF, DOA and Crazy Taxi not many played Powerstone. So maybe Capcom know this and also know the capability of their games so are porting the titles to a more successful platform.
And as for the 1941 game and all those old classics, porting them and introducing them to a new gen of gamers isn't such a bad idea. Quartz_donkey, not everyone plays emulators on their PC's.
The list hasn't got anything interesting for me since I've played some of the games on there. The only title worth a look is Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins.
