Title: GTA IV
Random Hero - February 1, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
Obviously, I will start:
1. Snow
2. Abulity to toggle the use off getting gas at gas stations on or off
3. Online Multiplayer and Free-Roam
4. Downloadable Missions
5. Downloadable Guns
6. Downloadable Weapons
7. Downloadable Cars
8. Downloadable Clothes
9. Some sort of cross-comunication between the ps3 version and the 2nd PSP GTA.
All features that were cancelled from SA such as carwashes, skateboards, etc.
Branching storyline with different endings.
Wouldn't it be interesting if the main character was a girl?
I know I got more...

It would indeed, though the whole picking up hookers thing would be a little strange.

You never know, perhaps she may enjoy the ladies aswell. God willing. :P
Anyway, I would definitely like to be able to create my own fully customizable character.
More random weather patterns with all types of variables.
Europe might be cool...
Finally, i'd really like to see a more customizable hideout, something to rival--I'm gonna get flamed into oblivion for even mentioning it, but I'll say it: secret base in Pokemon. *puts up flame shield*

Ah jeez. Where to start? I've posted all my ideas over at gtaforum's "Wishlist" thread. I don't wanna write it all over again! :P
Okay, one wish first, the rest later. It would be cool if there was a really big Grand Canyon (the height of Chiliad) with huge ramps and several bikes (Sanchez, NRG, PCJ) up the top. It would have several unoque jumps, one crossing from one rock to the other.
A waterfall hiding a secret cave would be nice.

- Work your way up starting off as a kid. Learning how to pickpocket or how to hotwire a car (like a button combo thing, once you've done it, you'll never have to do it again), gradually after doing each mission, you'll learn new things you couldn't do before. Weapons would be limited until you're a more accomplished killer, thus earning respect and getting your own bodyguards
DZ - February 1, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
R* have disabled modding in its second SA release I heard after the Coffee incident, from what I know and read at the mod forums on the gtaforums. Apparently, the GTA4 release on PC will not be mooddable. I'll find a link...
That would suck btw, no Hot Coffee 2. :P
BrotherEstapol - February 2, 2006 09:31 AM (GMT)
LOL, understandable, but pretty freaking stupid at the same time...nothing a thorough "we're covering our arses" user-agreement couldn't fix.
DZ - February 2, 2006 10:27 AM (GMT)
Theres gonna be a a hack to allow mods for sure. Some modders have h4x3d SA V.2 already to allow mods. They're still full of glitches though.
If R* think not allowing modding is a good idea to prevent court visits they're probably right, but without mods, PC gamers are gonna give up on the game faster than the past games. Mods keep the games fresh.
Plus chickening out like this is not like R*, they're usually on the edge with everything! :/

Man, that's such an awesome idea. Only they should make it so you're 17-18 years old and the storyline could be something to do with you being framed for something, so the city treats you like dirt. You then have to look for work from underground mobsters or whatever and so on.
They could teach you all the nesseceties and, kind of like the WWE games, you can choose things, like weather to kill your boss and take over or work with him and stuff like that.
Resident-Seven - February 2, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see a gta game that didn't look like shit, and it would be nice if they actually hired an animator, rather than getting people of the street to do it.
NismoR34 - February 4, 2006 03:22 PM (GMT)
This may sound weird but I wouldn't mind seeing something where you could make a name for yourself (form a reputation) in things other than criminal activity. Like play in a football (soccer you morons, the real football :P) league where you work your way up to the 'big league' and then became a famous player. This could actually be for any sport, Tennis, Motorsport - whatever. Naturally stadiums and tracks and things would be added to the city/ies to compensate for the addition if it ever happened.
Another thing I'd like to see is drag strips, possibly similar to Race Wars from Fast and the Furious? (not necessarily just for ricers though)
Although then again, maybe not considering you never drive slowly in GTA. ;)
DZ - February 4, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but since its a GTA game, the games are rigged, and to win you need to use "tactics". Then you buy FIFA, become president, invite Cahill to your mansion and make your goons rape him. :P
Random Hero - April 13, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
do you think the next gta will be multiplatform from the get go?
borgster101 - April 13, 2006 04:33 AM (GMT)
Sony probably wouldn't want that to happen, but going on the past, Xbox would get the game a few months later.
Random Hero - April 13, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
a few months would be rad considering we had to wait over a year or something for san andreas!! months instead of years YES PLEASE :D i dont think it was atually year(S) but it felt like a one whole year
borgster101 - April 13, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure San Andreas was released on Xbox only months after the PS2 version, it was GTA III that took years, since it was released with Vice City on Xbox.
Jiro - April 13, 2006 05:20 AM (GMT)
i reckon the fully customizable characters that u make from scratch would be good. also like a transit system were you can go automatically to somewhere you have unlocked without driving, like the taxis in SA, but with trains and planes, without having to watch the bloody animations.
Andy - April 13, 2006 06:49 AM (GMT)
Some great ideas on here.
Okay: Missions where you go through buildings, but rather than the disjointed "load inside building" thing of SA, it would be a part of the world.
So, you could theoretically catch an elevator to the top floor of a building and then base jump off it... and it would be a totally cohesive and uninterrupted thing...
naturally, some missions would require you to base-jump to escape... if you felt like diong it that way.
Return of the taxi that drives you to the mission point.
I like the idea of a female lead.
Pipe dream: A city that grows in size. Trees grow... homes and buildings are built. Skyscrapers rise. New roads are paved, and twist their way around the country. Possibly generated randomly too... so everyone has a slightly different version of the game.
DZ - April 13, 2006 06:56 AM (GMT)
There should be more horse racing and betting places. I'm now past 100 million bucks and want to bet all that on some good sport.
Plus, having that much money is useless cos I can't buy anything good in SA. Why can't I purchase the Police Stations in all cities and make myself boss? I wanna build some skyscrapers or a stadium with my money.
DJ-Civic - April 13, 2006 02:59 PM (GMT)
I'm not a fan of the GTA games, but since I'm currently playing through San Andreas I'll chuck in my 2c worth.
The game needs to be finished completely by Rockstar. This game has some of the worst environments, textures, animations and the overall presentation of the world you play in ain't right. Yes its huge, but I can't get over how unfinished everything feels. Character models are laughable at best!
Another set of things that need a major overhaul are the targeting system and camera. Manual shooting is also questionable...
So yeah, a completely polished GTA game next please Rockstar.
BrotherEstapol - April 14, 2006 04:59 AM (GMT)
You've got to remember that it is a port of a PS2 game, and we all know how shit the PS2 is. :P
*runs*
Andy - April 14, 2006 06:55 AM (GMT)
Grand Theft Auto III and onwards has always been a case of "jack of all trades, master of none".
I guess it's the variety of what is on offer which is the appeal. I mean, how else could a game with a shonky control system, bad graphics, and awful sound be one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time?
I guess it's also the violence, sex and coarse language...
ANyway, back on topic... I would love to be able to place your own skyscraper(s) on the landscape... as like a monument to your success.

So I gather Civ didn't tell you that he was playing the PS2 version then? I mean, it is my copy of the game after all... :P

Europe might be cool... |
GTA in America has lost it’s appeal to me, Rockstar should take a look at either Europe or Japan, especially the cities of Tokyo, Paris, Rome and London. If they go with the U.S. of A once more then it should definitely be set in the past; only Al Capone, Babyface Nelson, Bonnie & Clyde... were the real gangsters, these days its just a bunch of idiots carrying guns. Not to mention the cars and people had real style.
DZ - April 15, 2006 07:45 AM (GMT)
I had this great boxart I made for the GTA Forums...

Hong Kong is awesome!! :dance2:
Andy - April 15, 2006 09:33 AM (GMT)
It definitely should be in a different influenced country.
However, it will HAVE to be multiple cities. After San Andreas, they can't simply take a step backward and offer a single city.
A Japan one would definitely be brilliant. Base it on Yakuza, and have landmarks similar to Shibuya (lights), Shinjuku (skyscrapers), Harajuku (people wear weird fashion), tight streets everywhere... and the obligatory Mt Fuji type hill that you can scale...
It would have to be really mountainous, though.
NismoR34 - April 16, 2006 04:17 PM (GMT)
I'm liking that idea a lot actually, Andy. If they based the next game in Japan like you suggest then they would have a whole bunch of new ideas and things that they could add to the game, thanks to their different culture. One thing that screams out to me instantly when I read 'Japan GTA' is a drifting component. Now I know it wouldn't be too realistic but I think they could make it fun. The more I think about a Japanese GTA game though, the more I want it. Damn you for suggesting it. :P
DZ - April 16, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
It'd be just like Midnight Club then? ;)
NismoR34 - April 17, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
Bleh, no. Preferrably far from it as far as I am concerned. It was just a thought anyway, there is so much other things they could implement with a Japanese setting.
Andy - April 18, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
firstly... Mach suggested Japan first ;) I just ran with the idea. Because I've been to japan recently, i guess its only natural that I'd be keen for a GTA game there.
Drifting would definitely be cool, and the mountain regions would have perfect roads for carrying out the drifting (or touge if you will).
Breaking into the imperial palace... (dont know WHY... just it would be cool)
robbing a bullet train...
... but i think a mission where you sneak onto the "women only" carriages on trains would be a little low brow...
Vending machines everywhere!!!!
DZ - April 18, 2006 02:26 AM (GMT)
There should be more secrets like UFO's and Boogie man in the mountains. Cave's would be cool to explore too.

Yah
There was a groping problem a while back on the really packed out trains.
Anyway... caves to explore would be cool, however would they consider GTA to be venturing into RPG territory and therefore be against the tradition?
(although it can be argued that GTA has become an RPG of sorts with San Andreas)
DZ - April 18, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
GTA is not an RPG. GTA is a crime-life simulator. Actually they should tag it "The Real Crime Life Simulator".
borgster101 - April 18, 2006 05:39 AM (GMT)
I don't think the OFLC would be happy with that tagline, it "promotes crime".
Stevorooni - April 18, 2006 05:52 AM (GMT)
GTA: Adelaide
You'll be able to race around our tall building and the tree.
Maybe they could do an anniversary special with all the cities from the PS2 games in one massive environment, set in the present so they are slightly different (and with a mega graphical upgrade).
But for a brand new game I wouldn't mind them going overseas, maybe do a 60's version of London (like that London 1969 expansion pack for the original GTA games) or like others have mentioned, Japan.
In fact haven't Rockstar trademarked Tokyo for a GTA game? Wouldn't surprise me if that was the next setting.
But there would have to be a lot of countryside, becuase I liked that aspect of SA. Is there much countryside around Tokyo?
OldSkOoL - April 18, 2006 06:48 AM (GMT)
You guys have cities in Adelaide. I never knew that.
I'd like the realistic option of generally only being able to carry a few weapons with you and these weapons would be visible on yourself. It just always came off as lame that you could carry all these weapons and just rip them out from no where.
Random Hero - April 18, 2006 07:46 AM (GMT)
just thinking i was it set in the present so we can buy and use ipod's that would be so so wickid
Andy - April 18, 2006 10:10 AM (GMT)
Stevo: there is quite a bit of countryside around tokyo, but it is very mountainous, and the roads do weave everywhere.
So... yes there is plenty of fodder for developers to use if they were to make a GTA: Chiba... or whatever landmark they could model the name on...
