Title: The Bitch Board
Description: Complain/vent here!
Sweating Bullets - May 3, 2004 05:24 AM (GMT)
Here is the famous Bitch Board.
I need to complain on a number of things.
Last Thursday I had an interview that went fairly well. So well that they contacted my manager and he relayed this information to me. Standard procedure for the job I went for it to contact referees as a final step for the preferred applicant or if I was neck and neck with someone else. Needless to say I was fairly happy last Thursday arvo. But I have yet to receive *any* form of contact from them since!
The longer it takes for them to get back to me the less chance I think that I have of getting it. What the heck is taking them sooo long?!? Put me out of my misery at least if I didn't get I can at least stop thinking about it!! Grr!!
Also need to complain about the general crapiness of hunting around for jobs. It sucks.
Junker - May 3, 2004 05:51 AM (GMT)
Firstly, I got my security license application sent back to me because one of my references wasn't dated. They need them to be dated so they can be sure they are no more than 10 years old. Stupid thing is, I sent evidence of my age in about 6 different forms to them. I mean come on - did they suspect someone gave me a reference when I was 9? Total apin in the arse.
Secondly, as I said in the Feedback forums, please don't make any more newbie threads. They are completely pointless and only encourage spamming. And I will eat a puppy every time you do it, so don't.
Hello - May 3, 2004 08:44 AM (GMT)
Nice thread Mr Bullets!
1) The quote thing on these forums suck balls.
2) I'm gonna shave me head tomorrow, I'm not to sure if it'll look like crap or not (pre-emptive bitch).
3) Uni tomorrow, assignments are due. Shit. Better do some homework, like, now...
4) Nicole Kidman. The Hours truly does suck arse.

My bitch:
I have a biography due tomorrow, and I havn't written a word. My fault, I know, but I'll never get round to it.

I don't know about this thread, but I guess it could work as long as people have genuine problems and want to discuss them in some sort of detail. Just listing what you're going to do is pure crap and IRC worthy, sorry hello. :)
Also, put some effort into your bitching.
As for me, I'm fed up with all this bull crap elitist spew that the IRC channels seem fit to push at the moment. Granted a lot of this is due to a couple of people having a ridiculous problem with me and not wanting anything I do to be the least bit successful, but I don't think it helps when other people go around reiterating it over and over and over again. I feel a lot of it has to do with Hyper being down at the moment, which has left people with what seems like a large hole in their lives and a lot more time to waste on message boards. Here's hoping Hyper pops back up soon and all those who have nothing better to do but sign up here and whine like sick dogs return 'home' and keep that crap there.
End bitch.

I originally saw the thread as more a place to vent out some problems.
If some people want to discuss/help out other forumers thats great. But is there a serious problem if people jump come here to complain about the useless matters in their world? It might sound very trivial but for some people just complaining about it is the first step in getting over the problem.
The majority of the posts here seem fall into that category. Don't they?
_MetalliX_ - May 3, 2004 10:47 AM (GMT)
Well it was a problem then, and it is a problem now. I still can't get broadband! Usually most people would've gotten over it but the fact that my neighbour can get cable and that my friend down the road can get ADSL really burns me up! I am also sick of having to wait ages for downloads, just the GunBound updates alone have taken more than 20 minutes. On the bright side I am still pwning Counter-Strike even with four times the ping of 'cablerz' and there is a new wireless broandband thingy from OzeMail being introduced which my dad has signed up for.

Agreed. I also have to hunt for jobs, and it sucks.
Anyway, I hate my sleeping pattern at the moment. It's ridiculous, I've missed out on doing some things I've wanted to, during the day, because I've slept in so late or whatever. Going to bed at 4am or even later then that doesn't help, but it happens, because I sleep in so late in the first place. Another thing that annoys me, is when I do go to bed, I can never nod off, so I'm staring at the ceiling, doing absolutely nothing, and it sucks.
Oh, and it's real hard for me to wake up, which also sucks.

I find the best remedy for that is having a good read while in bed.
If I don't read something at night while in bed, i'll just toss and turn for an hour or so. Favourite bedtime reading includes fantasy novels, alien conspiracies and hellspawn comics.........hang on...maybe thats why I can't sleep at night ;)

I fell over a little more than a week ago and my leg is STILL sore. At first it swelled up for a few days, then it went away and seemed lke it was getting better. Now everytime I move it it hurts, not so much pain hurt but more of a really uncomfortable-bordering-on-pain hurt. It makes it very hard to sleep, because everytime I roll or move I wake up because of the sensation. Extended use (eg, walking 5 mins to the shops) makes it hurt and throb like buggery. My right wrist is also still a little tender from the same fall. It's not so much the pain that shits me, it's the fact that I'm virtually immobile. -_-'
On the up side, I can still play video games. :)

I know how that is, it sucks. Try not to let the pattern go on for too long, otherwise your body will adapt and it'll be even harder. I had a sleeping pattern similar to yours for about 3 years and I'm now getting back in rhythm with the rest of the world. Now I'm off to bed around 10-11, and up around 7-8. I keep waking up in the middle of the night though, which is kind of annoying.
I beat it by staying up and getting super-tired, then heading off to bed about 9. If you wake up shortly after, don't give up on it. The next few days you'll feel like the living dead, but once you get through them you'll be fine.

I am too far from the exchange to get ADSL and my home just can't get cable because of how it was designed, practically with a concrete moat around it so it would be very difficult to run the cable.

NismoR34, I too had the same problem as you. But there's an easy solution: don't sleep in. Always set your alarm for, like, 9 o'clock (at the very latest), even if you've just had a big night. A healthy diet and frequent exercise can help, too.
Str8JaktJim, I have that same bitch. I've got no idea what I'll be doing in a years time, let alone 10. It's starting to scare me a bit...Oh well, I guess it's better than not worrying about it at all.
My bitch for today is the following -
A mate's girlfriend recently got a job, and today she goes, "It's really cool, 'cause I just sit on my arse all day". Seriously, some people ain't even got legs, so get off your arse and do something with 'em (is that one OK, Gregg? :P ).

Man, I've tried not sleeping in at all, but I have hassles waking up too.
Like I said before, I have troubles getting up, and also getting to sleep.
I think part of the reason for this, is because I have no job, and therefore nothing to do.
I seriously want to change this problem I have though, as I miss out on so many interesting things that happen to people around here...
Would not going to sleep at all, one night, then going to bed at around I dunno, 11:30 or something the next night after that, fix the problem? Or would it just make me feel like shit?

Played touch footy last night. Discovered I was ridiculously unfit - scored 4 tries - a new pb playing for this team, and one off my overall pb. (although I was just the person at the end - other people did all the hardwork in setting them up).
But my bitch is about the refs. At half time the scores were 2/4 (us up) and they came over to tell us that they had been scoring it wrong and had swapped the names - apparntly getting confused over which team was which. We scored 3 tries and I thought they scored one halfway through the second half. I ask the ref what the score is:
"well according to this they're up by one"
me - "So you're saying they've scored 6 tries this half?"
ref - "um, I think we may have made a mistake somewhere"
Eventually they got it sorted out, but fuck! How hard is it to keep score of a touch football game? The final score according to them was 8:5 us winning, but I know for a fact that we scored 9 tries - and I think they only scored 4. Anyway it was pointless getting into a debate over it - two scores will hardly cost us a spot in the final - but it was pretty annoying anyway.

My bitch today is my lack of motivation to do my TAFE work. In my head I really know I need to do it, and think about it constantly, but for some reason I struggle to pick up that book and do it. It's not like it's too hard - quite easy in fact - but I just can't seem to motivate myself!!
So my bitch today is about myself :P
Tribaldemon - May 5, 2004 03:54 AM (GMT)
I hate easy assignments, theyre always the hardest to get motivated for. Hell, I didn't do my maths modelling uni assignment until 8 hours before it was due (and got 24/25, booyah :P) Because I kept telling myself "I'll do it after ..... because its easy"
In the end, it was a frantic rush, as my practical coding for ST looks like becoming... I really need to get my arse in gear.

And Optus just use Telstras cabling don't they? I read somewhere that the internet cables were 'rebelling' and will begin/have begun to lay cables of their own.

You got uni, tafe or anything like that, dude? If not, you just need to do something productive during the day - not necessarily uni or a job - ie., get some volunteer work going. Volunteer work will not only get you out of the house, but it'll also look friggin' brilliant on your resume, thus boosting your chances of getting a job. Easier said than done, I know, but she's a start.
There is such a thing as too much sleep/relaxation time. Sleeping patterns need to be healthy, and I doubt that staying awake every second night will fix the problem.
It sounds like you've got the exact same problem that I had 3 or 4 years ago and, seriously, waking up early and going to bed early will work - you've just gotta stick with it. Good luck.

Nah, I'm not doing anything at the moment, and therefore don't have anything productive to do. I might give your suggestion a go actually, sounds alright. :)
Just want to say thanks for actually caring, it's appreciated man. :D Oh, and I got up at 12:30 today, while still late, it's actually pretty good for me, so maybe it's a start?!
Anyway, a bitch of another kind for me..
Why is it, that people continue to pursue topics that were either dealt with, or discussed ages ago? And then turn the whole discussion into a fight or argument?
I had a chat with a "friend" tonight, thinking to myself "oh yeah, haven't talked to him for a while, I wonder how he is?", so I started a conversation with him.
Within less then a minute of this conversation, he brought up old topics that were resolved 4-5 months ago, and within another 5 minutes, we were fighting.
The immaturity he showed throughout this "discussion" was pathetic, and the things he said was just completely wrong. (even insulting someone I love dearly..)
He even tried correcting words I used, yet he didn't know that the words I chose to use, were the words I wanted to use in the first place.
Anyway, not really anything important to the rest of the world, but seriously, people never know when to leave things alone do they?

Bitch 1 - Footy clubs. Just listening to 3AW, and this dude rings up saying that he's a coach of a junior footy club, and one of his players recently died from cancer. The thing is, he sent letters to AFL clubs to see if he could get any merchandise to sell at auction to benefit the dead kid's family, and the only team who actually got back to him was the Magpies - and they said they'd charge him $300! This dude goes public, and the clubs - including Eddie - throw merchandise at him. Two-faced fools. Oh well, at least the family will get helped in the end...

One word: Sasser
I'm on a computer at Uni now, since my baby at home is sick as a dog, a dog with worms. Blaster worms. I've downloaded anti-virus software (AVG and Stinger), formatted windows, and downloaded the relevant patches through Windows Update - yet everything is still pretty fscked up.
I've also decided that I need a job. I've come to the realisation that my cost of living exceeds my income (which is currently, uh, nothing). I'm wondering how much time I'll have for a job, though - I spend, on average, about 7 hours a day at University and I'm not sure if I could handle the stress load. Then there's the issue of actually finding a job. Eck.
Yeah. *exits*
