Title: Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Suity - October 21, 2005 06:43 AM (GMT)
Well this game should be out by next month and I've been looking forward to it, mainly because it is a return to the Hot Pursuit version of Need for Speed. It is however still got the mod aspect of Underground still going strong :)

BrotherEstapol - October 21, 2005 09:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the Xbox version played alright, but I think I may just hire/buy from EB for 7 days and see how it goes.
Oh and I'd be getting the PC version for sure, the Xbox version looked "nice" but it had teh jaggies and it wasn' the best framerate.

* Pontiac GTO * Vauxhall Monaro VXR |
LOL, two Holden Monaro rebadges, but no Holden Monaro!
I wonder if they'll rebadge the Vauxhall as a Holden in the Aussie version? They've done similar in the past, though I do doubt it.
NismoR34 - October 21, 2005 04:34 PM (GMT)
I doubt it, otherwise they may have rebadged the Pontiac in NFSU 2. They didn't though.
When I read the car list earlier this evening, I saw a comment mentioning the lack of the Skyline. They were complaining naturally. Why the fuck complain about it exactly? I think they were forgetting the change in style that this game is having, but whatever.
I'm looking forward to the game, even if it turns out to be a disappointment. Should still be enjoyable like all NFS games are.
[DZ] - October 21, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
Subaru Impreza WRX STi -best car ever!
This just might be my next NFS purchase. The last was Porsche Unleashed on PS1 and that was dreadful.

Yeah. but even though I said the GTO was a re-badge, it's actually got some engine and interior differences, where-as the Vauxhall is actually just a simple re-badge.(like the Astra and Vectra)
Suity - October 22, 2005 12:26 PM (GMT)
Just wondering but when I posted this thread it didn't have a symbol next to it denoting what system the game would appear on, now it does. Just wondering if the mods have to do it themselves? I can't think of another way:P
BrotherEstapol - October 22, 2005 03:27 PM (GMT)
Anyone can do it for any post, they are all underneath the field where your type you post in.
Like this post. :P (OMG IT'S MY MOBILE PHONE!)
But yeah, I edited your post and put it in. ;)
DJ-Civic - October 23, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Might skip this generation's version and get it on the 360. It looks a shitload better on that.
BrotherEstapol - October 23, 2005 03:44 PM (GMT)
It'll jsut look like the PC version.* :P
*Assuming you have a "l33t rigg" :whistling:

I suppose so. Time will tell but yeah, I don't believe they will bother with the rebadging for our market. It's such a small issue, I don't think it will matter to the EA boys.
One thing I like about this game is that it seems* to have highways and stuff like the older games. Yes I know it's a hybrid of the Hot Pursuit/Underground series, but this wil definitely be more enjoyable for me if it's true.
*I say seems because I only saw one screen of it and therefore I'm not sure. The videos I have of the game only show footage from in the middle of the city, so I have no idea.
[DZ] - October 23, 2005 10:03 PM (GMT)
I might get it on PS2 and if there will be a Most Wanted 2 on PS3 then I might get that when I own one. It'll look shitloads better than this installment!

Yeah possibly, but you'll need to spend double on what a 360 costs just to get it to that graphical level, so it makes sense to buy a 360 and the game. ;)
Suity - November 9, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
I'm bored and thought I'd post a link to this video.
Game trailerClick the Mustang GT video, really gets you into the feel of the game :D
NismoR34 - November 10, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
IGN have their review posted (bit early...) and they think it is a pretty decent game.
Haven't bothered to see if there are any other reviews yet, but from what IGN says it seems like this game is going to rock pretty hard. I like the sound of the new weight physics and stuff. I will enjoy exploiting those when I get this game later this month. ;)
Seems fairly long too so let's just hope it isn't repetitive like NFSU 2 was.
Oh, and it seems that only the Ps2 will be receiving the Black Edition of the game (few extra cars and stuff), so that kinda sucks the big one. Ah well.
Bring it on I say.
DJ-Civic - November 11, 2005 01:47 PM (GMT)
The 360 version better have those extra cars...
As for the PS2 only getting the "black edition" - it's a tradeoff with the Xbox version as only that one has online play.
thebigm - November 11, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Demo is out, and might fine it is :)
Large of servers (in Australia to) at
http://www.gamershell.com/news/26208.html Just click local download.
NismoR34 - November 12, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
So I assume that both you and Civic would have the demo by now, if so, details! :P
I knew there had to be a reason behind the Black Edition thing. Oh well, I'd much prefer online play overall than just a few extra things. Might end up getting both anyway, making it 3 versions of the game.
Nah.

Seems a tad stupid that they couldn't include the extras on the Xbox version too. Not everyone has live (including me) so for those who don't they're practically getting the inferior version.
BrotherEstapol - November 12, 2005 07:34 AM (GMT)
Just played the demo, and again, I'm already in the next gen! :P
*hugs 6800 GT*
Eyce - November 12, 2005 07:41 AM (GMT)
How's the drifting in it?

Since last night I've been playing the demo again and again and again and again and again and a little bit more on top.
By god this game is fun, the sense of speed is great, the thrills are great, the handling is pretty (for a k/b anyway) and it has definately sweetened me up to buying the game, now to choose which version...
GCN for price
XBOX for Live
XBOX360 for Live + = best version
PC for Price and = best version.
Decisions, decisions.
BrotherEstapol - November 12, 2005 08:11 AM (GMT)
Ge the PC version and USB converter for your Xbox controller/a Xbox360 controller.
Also bear in mind that there's still no release date for the 360 down here...
Oh, and having played the Xbox version, I can safely say that when compared to the PC version, it looks like a dog turd.
From that I can only assume that the PS2 and GCN version look even worse.
Conclusion? Get the PC or 360 versions. :)

Yeh, I am thinking of buying the 360 wireless controller for use in my PC, along with having one spare for when I get my 360.
BrotherEstapol - November 12, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
Uh, not sure if the wireless version will work with a PC out of the box...what sort of hardware on your PC would you need for it work?
BTW, sorry about eariler, I went out to dinner and left my PC on(was downloading crap) but I forgot to turn Xfire off. :argh:

Think I've read on a few forums of Microsoft saying the wireless version will work.
And about earlier its ok, and for those who don't know, hopefully a few games of NFS:MW between Evo - ites :)
Suity - November 12, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
Well I'll have to get it on GCN, as it's either that or PS2, which has some flickering issues according to IGN.

Well I am getting the Xbox version this month, only because I don't have my rocking PC yet. When the 360 releases, I will be buying that version too. May sound stupid but oh well.
Eyce, there is no drifting in this game.
DJ-Civic - November 12, 2005 04:26 PM (GMT)
Hey Estapol, where can I get those USB/Xbox controller thingos? After I played the demo on PC, I don't think i wanna go back to the console version. ;) Looks fucking sweet as doesn't it?!
Actually, here's a screen.

Oh and can we play the demo online vs eachother for now?

Yeh, it is possible.
So far we got 3, (Estapol, Civ and myself) who else will be in to get the last spot? :)
thebigm - November 13, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
Sorry for the double post, but wow, just had a thrilling 10minute race in which I racked up a 190000 bounty and finally beating the roadblock challenge.
It was damn good :D

I got mine from
Lik-Sang, but only after I tried making one myself through tutourials on the net (and frying two controllers!!).
Alternatively, you could go and buy a
360 controller...though it won't be wireless.
Texta - November 13, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
Yeah I had a bit of a go once I reinstalled service pack 2 to fix some direct x problem I was having. It's a pretty awesome looking game.
NismoR34 - November 17, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure what to think at the moment.
I have read the reviews, watched the videos and trailers and even watched some videos that Civic made, and I must say that I am getting quite pumped to play this at the end of the month. I am a little worried about getting excited over it though. After all, I was pretty pumped for NFSU 2 last year and it turned out to be disappointing. Good game but not what I thought it would be.
I hope to hell that isn't the case with this one.
I'm definitely looking forward to using 'new' cars again though. :D
BrotherEstapol - November 18, 2005 09:03 AM (GMT)
Well considering how fast you play your games though, you should take advantage of the EB 7 day return policy, that way if it's shit, you can take it back. :)
I read a review of the 360 version of this, and they said the game had graphical pop-up issues...how lame! :P
Texta - November 18, 2005 12:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah I have problems with the pc version... my 7800GTX makes it look so good I cream myself. It's a pain never having a clean pair of pants. :P
Think I'll pick this up. It's not really a sequel so it doesn't violate my new policy of only buying original games.

You know, I like your frame of thinking. Too bad I don't play games like I used to though, so I really don't think I would be able to finish it within the week.
Put simply, this can be the deciding NFS game. If this proves to be disappointing in a similar way to what NFSU 2 did, then I won't be buying next year's installment straight away. Unless I have a disposable income, of course.

Haha, read that too. Guess that short development time didn't do the game any favours...
I'm getting my USB/Xbox controller cable this week, so I'll be buying the PC version.

Nah man, this game's different. I played the NFSU2 demo and at the time I thought it was good, but more of the same. In the end, the contanst driving to get to the next challenge became a chore, so the game wasn't as enjoyable.
Having played the Most Wanted demo, I can safely say that it offers enough new stuff to keep it all fresh.

Good, because it certainly seems different. Well infact, it is different. What I mean though is that it seems like it has enough changes to make the franchise fun again. Kinda like what the original NFSU did to the franchise a few years ago.
I look forward to it.
NismoR34 - November 23, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
Excuse the double post but according to DVDCrave, my copy of the game was shipped today. (Wednesday)
So, if the order arrives tomorrow like it should (being Star Track Express and all), then you can expect that I will run it through its paces and post my impressions tomorrow night. Hopefully Devil May Cry 3 doesn't prove to be too distracting.
DJ-Civic - November 25, 2005 02:03 PM (GMT)
Estapol, got the PC version yet?
Went to EB to get the Black edition, but they didn't have it. <_< Doesn't matter too much as I've now ordered it through DVDcrave.
Oh and I got the USB cable to play with my xbox controller and it works great! :D
