Title: Manly men of Evolution. Do you cry at movies?

Machiavelli - September 28, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
Rarely for me. Even though I only get teary eyed, but never actually fully cry - I think it still counts as a blubber. So far, both Philadelphia and Braveheart are the only movies which were able to stir up that much emotion inside me.

One of my mates cried during Cast Away when Wilson (yes the volleyball) floated away. I shouldn't laugh. :P

BrotherEstapol - September 28, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
I've never actually shed a tear, but I've come close. ;)

Can't remember hte movies though. :S

Oh, and I fixed the poll. ;)

NismoR34 - September 28, 2005 03:32 PM (GMT)
I hardly ever watch movies so I can't remember if I have or not. I think tears may have started to develop the first time I saw Jean Gray 'die' in Xmen 2, but I can't remember. Oh wait, I cried when Pirates of the Caribbean ended the first time I watched it. Not because of anything that happened in the movie, but because it was over and therefore, so was my enjoyment.

Not directly related, but I have shed a tear or three while playing certain games.

I cried in Bowling for Colombine both times that I saw it (at the bit about the actual shooting - with lots of footage and stuff) but have never cried at another movie.

Manny M - September 28, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
One movie: Forrest Gump.

"I'm not a smart man, but I do know what love is"

Riddler - September 29, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm 14 years old and I cried when I went to see 'Big Fish'. At the end I was in tears, because of my gradfather's death that was only recently. I dunno why, but it just has significance and makes me remember.

I never cry at movies. Not that I don't want to, but I don't let myself. I almost cried on several moments in SW Ep.3, like when Anakin fell into the lava and was defaced, and when Padme died.

Oh, and recently, I felt really, really bad for Evan in The Butterfly Effect (Director's Cut DVD) when he died in the womb. What a sacrifice. Great movie. And also I felt really emotional at the end of Return of theKing. :(

auhsor - September 29, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
I almost cried watching A Walk To Remember with my girlfriend. It's an emotional movie anyway, but I had stuff on my mind also which it was reminding me about.

I was about to say that one too.

Texta - September 29, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
I've never cried in a movie. But LoTR made me want to throw a hammer at Peter Jackson.

Iroquois - September 29, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
I've never cried. I am an emotionless bastard.

I wish I didn't read that. Now some of the movie has been spoiled. :(

I am a weird person when it comes to movies/TV shows. It's not often I'll cry/become emotional watching a movie/TV show on the first viewing, but depending how I'm feeling I may get teary-eyed, but never when I first watch it. Probably something to do with the full impact not registering with me the first time round.

I remember getting glassy-eyed at Dumbo when I was like 10 and just recently, my eyes got watery watching The Simpsons. Yes, honestly, The Simpsons. It was that episode where Bart and Lisa get taken away from Homer and Marge and go to a foster home (Flanders house)

I dunno why, because I must have seen that episode at least 20 times, but that particular night, it just connected with me, I dunno...

EDIT: Forrest Gump. Don't think I've ever cried, but it is really an emotional film.

Never! :3
Or almost never.. sometimes I do :P

[m]averick - September 30, 2005 04:57 AM (GMT)
it's vague posts like Gio's that make these kinds of threads so rewarding.

Gio - September 30, 2005 06:01 AM (GMT)
OK, I'll elaborate then..
I've only cried once or twice at a movie, but can't remember what movies they were.

ISN'T THAT SO MUCH BETTER :o :D :P

..I need help.

Hello - September 30, 2005 07:50 AM (GMT)
I cried at a film last week. It was a film from Iceland called 'Noi Albino'. It was a bloody good film.

I always cry, even without the help of film.

BrotherEstapol - September 30, 2005 08:34 AM (GMT)
Oh, if you don't think a cartoon could bring you to tears, watch the Futurama episode Jurrassic Bark.

:(

~DC - September 30, 2005 09:03 AM (GMT)
Is that the one with the dog waiting in the same street for Fry at the end? It was touching, but not enough to make me cry.

BrotherEstapol - September 30, 2005 09:41 AM (GMT)
Well, not full-on cry, but watery eyes.

I think I cried in some chinese movie, about a street racer, and his girlfriend dies in a car crash.

I'm a robot moose!

I havent ever really cried in a film, but Forrest Gump brings it close. Also, Ladder 49 is pretty sad at the end, but only because you follow the dude for the whole movie.

/backslash - October 2, 2005 07:57 AM (GMT)
Spirited Away comes to mind, I didn't cry but I was left sad at one stage

One of my deviantart friends watched The Last Samurai (Tom Cruise) and she came out with tears in the closing credits. I think she did the same with a couple of the Lord of the Ring movies during some moments

Suity - October 2, 2005 08:02 AM (GMT)
Like DZ, I haven't cried but it is more because I won't let myself than not being able too. Million Dollar Baby comes to mind.

jawbreaker982 - October 5, 2005 12:09 PM (GMT)
Neverending Story. Artax. Swamp of Sorrows.

"Artax! You're sinking!"

Agent Knight - November 20, 2005 12:33 PM (GMT)
Believe it or not I've never actually cried in a movie. I was bordering on bursting into tears throughout the entire second half of Million Dollar Baby, the ending of Hana-Bi was excruciating and those few lines at the end of A Beautiful Mind almost made me cry in joy, but this is all ALMOST. That one film that really makes me break down is still to come.

josh - November 21, 2005 08:56 AM (GMT)
Twice, in the same movie. Forrest Gump.

Now that you bring it up, yes, Futurama does have a few episodes that tug at your heart strings. Luck of the Fryish and Leela's Homeworld come to mind.
In general though I don't cry, but there are movies that leave a big knot in your throat. Bambi being one of those movies... ;)
