Title: podcasting
Description: do you?
Texta - August 25, 2005 08:52 AM (GMT)
Hey team, so I work 40 hours a week in this mostly incredibly boring job (with occasional moments of extreme stressfulness and excitement), so I've been getting into podcasting to keep my sanity.
Basically I need to be able to find 8 hours of interesting new stuff every day and it's getting to be a little bit of a struggle.
I'm pretty into Radio National which I can't get because it's only broadcast on am. However I have subscribed to 8 different shows (some of which are only weekly) as well as John Safran and Hack from triple J.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good shows I can subscribe too. Mostly I'm looking for anything interesting that I won't fall asleep to. If it's intellectually stimulating that would be great too.
Feel free to discuss anything podcast related here.

What about the Dr Karl ones from Triple J?
I also remember one fo the online video game comics has a podcast now, though I can't remember it's name...it's not Penny-Arcade, VG-Cats or Ctrl.Alt.Delete. :/

Talkback radio. Alan Jones, John Laws etc. I love these guys. I've been meaning to get into podcasting but don't know where to start?

Is podcasting where they just upload an mp3 of their 3 hour show, you download it and listen to it? I'm in the same boat as mav, I have no idea what it is or where to start?

Both I guess. I'm interested in the downloading part. You get a program that automatically downloads new episodes when they appear on the net so then you just plug your mp3 player into your computer in the morning and upload them. Hell I guess you could even leave it plugged in and set it to download straight to it.
http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/index.php this is what I use.

I say that you should download Derryn Hinch's daily show from 3AW's website. That shit's gold.

I was on a bus once and I had to get off because John Laws was on sprouting dribble about the death penalty and it made me too angry. And then there was Alan Jones comments regarding Shapelle Corby's judges (his outrage that they couldn't speak english). WHat a nub. I don't think I'll be listening to their podcasts any time soon.
I've been making the effort to actually listen to Dr karl, but I may just go for the podcast. I'm kinda falling behind. Background Briefing on Radio National has to be THE greatest radio program of all time. I love it. The episode on happiness from last week was life changing. For serious.

I'm part of the podcasting game. I downloaded iPodder, but it was crap. Then I found out you could podcast with iTunes, so I used that, cos I like my stuff streamlined.
I'm now downloading "This Sporting Life" by Roy and HG, and I'm not sure if I'll subscribe to anything else, as I think I'll struggle to keep up with listening to one a week, let alone one a day or so. But we'll see what happens.

I subscribe to the Alternative Press podcast. Currently they have various bands from the Warped Tour, including A Wilhem Scream.

Do you want to post up a link?
I've decided to cut down on my podcasting as I got a "learn spanish" thing and it's about 45 hours total, so it's going to take a while. Plus I've been listening to lots of music recently too.
NismoR34 - September 26, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
I only get the one podcast every week. It's one made by some people from OverClocked Remix and is basically one to bring up news regarding the site and so forth. Designed to get even more people aware of OCR.
If anyone is interested, go to
OCR and follow the links.

I don't podcast anymore. It's far too hard to stay up to date. I mean, This Sporting Life goes for like 2.5 hours and I just don't have that kind of time to listen to people talking. Plus music is way more fun. Come back to me when they allow podcasting of actual music.

Yeah it certainly makes it easier if you have a job that involves you adjusting a tap every ten minutes for 8 hours and then you go home.
I don't have a problem with iPodder. It does everything I want it to.
[m]averick - September 27, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
I listen to a lot of music, anywhere between 5-8 hours a day, but it's mainly when I'm doing homework, thus it's on usually in the background and I'm only semi paying attention. I've found that if I listen to people talking, I can't concentrate, so I can't see myself getting into podcasting.

I''ve gotten to the stage where even listening to music serves as a distraction when I'm typing up a Uni essay or studying.
I tried podcasting a couple of weeks back but generally found the daily updates to go too long and became tedious listening to one voice after a while.
jawbreaker982 - October 5, 2005 11:53 AM (GMT)
I'm subscribed to Sunday Night Safran and a fortnightly podcast by Mark Hoppus, that dork from blink 182.

Could anyone help me out, I've just discovered that I want to pod cast. I have a Creative Zen Touch. The website I want to download off gives instructions for how to use iTunes. What's a good alternative since I don't have an iPod (or can I use iTunes since it's already installed on my PC with my Zen?)?

AustralianGamer.com
Though it's not a TRUE podcast yet, just uploading the mp3 ... bloody Matt is so lazy, but hopefully it will be in the correct format within the next week. We update it every Friday night.
