Title: Resident Evil Deadly Silence
Description: RE makes it way to the DS!

Thought I'd post a new thread for this, rather than discussion of the game continue in the general DS thread.

Graphics dont look 'that' great especially after RE4, but this is the DS and in that regard they are ok, keep in mind these are magazine scans as well, so there is some obvious loss in quality. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Old rumours said this may have an RE4 style control scheme and a couple of the shots show a first person view but I notice other shots are the typical movie camera viewpoint.

Yeah, possibly you have the 'traditonal' camera angles but can go into a 1st person mode to shoot at any time?

Would it have voice acting I wonder, it seems unlikely that such content could fit on the DS card
cd2 - August 26, 2005 02:58 AM (GMT)
how bit are the DS cards? I kinda remember them being 1gigbit?
borgster101 - August 26, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah I think 1gigbit was right, isn't that like 256MB or something along those lines? Voice acting 'could' make it, but it would be pushing it.
BrotherEstapol - August 26, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
Did RE2 have voice acting? Cause the N64 cart for that was (I'm probably wrong here) 128mb, which is half of that of a DS card.
So I'd say you could expect FMV since RE2 on the N64 had that, and only had half the room to work with.

They fit all of Res Evil two in a 512MiB 64 cart. So some yeah.
BrotherEstapol - August 26, 2005 07:07 AM (GMT)
512 megabit, or megabite?
Either way I was wrong!
quartz_donkey - August 26, 2005 07:22 AM (GMT)
Mi = 2^20(1048576), B = byte, b = bit, M = 10^6 (1000000).
The cart was the biggest size used(couple of other games did two can't remember which ones) on the 64 and is why they thought they could charge so much for it. But yeah there you go maybe I should buy a DS.
Hadn't heard of these ones before. Mybe they use Yottalightyears to describe the distance between Galaxys.
10^24 yotta Y
10^21 zetta Z
10^18 exa E
10^-15 femto f
10^-18 atto a
10^-21 zepto z
10^-24 yocto y

It would be 128MB then. So I wouldn't expect to much voice acting.
I didn't relise that N64 carts got up to 512Mb (64MB). thats pretty cool I guess.
Anyway I still finding it hard to get interesed in this, I don't really want another rehash of the original, theres only so many times you can play it.. I dont know we will see what else is release when its being released
borgster101 - August 27, 2005 04:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah RE2 on N64 was a 64MB cart and it did contain full FMV and voice acting, although the FMV was compressed, but it still looked pretty decent.
So I suppose in that sense it's possible that the DS version could push voices.
BrotherEstapol - August 28, 2005 05:18 AM (GMT)
There's also alot better video and audio codecs out now, so I'm sure they could fit alot onto the card.

Also there are 'knife fights' (no not the RE4 type) but it seems of the stylus type, promising stuff :D
