Title: Review the Latest CD you've listened to
Description: Now!

I know is already a topic like this (the CDs and DVDs topic) but frankly I think it makes much more sense to have seperate topics for cds and dvds since most of the dvd posts are about movies which are fundamentally different to music cds.

Here are my latest CD purchases reviewed:

Verve Remixed
Very chilled remixes of verve (the record label - not the band) songs. Fucking awesome. I love this cd - it's very cool layed back music. I actually heard the cd a while ago while travelling with a friend - we were fruit picking in victoria and wanted to take the cd if nobody claimed it - but they did. Anyway it's pretty damn cool.

Bird And Diz
Recording of the very last time that Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie played together in a recording studio. Also has Thelonius Monk on piano (which is the only time he played with both at once) so probably one of the greatest combinations of Jazz musicians ever. I'm a massive fan of Bird so obviously I love this cd. Some of the tracks I've never heard before. It also has a number of different takes of the tunes and some outtakes at the end - which to be honest are pretty boring but it's very cool to hear the guys chatting to each other :P I guess it's not the best recordings of any of the musicians but it's still really really good and I'd recommend it to any early modern Jazz fan.

Moscow - TheSexTheCityTheMusic
Club music from moscow - varies in coolness. Lots of it is very chilled. After the first two tracks that I don't like much it's very cool. I was hoping it would be a little more energetic since I bought two cds I knew would be chilled and laid back, but I still really enjoy this. The Moscow club scene sounds pretty cool and I think I'll definitly have to check out some of the clubs mentioned if (when!) I visit Moscow.

Overall I was very stoked with these three cd purchases and would recommend all three :)

Another nice topic Beast, keep'em coming. ;)

I'll post some album reviews in a day or so when I get enough time to listen to them in one shot.

Antics - Interpol.

After listening to Turn On The Bright Lights for a bit, and loving it, I was kindly informed by Sweating Bullets that they have a second album, which I wasted no time in illegally obtaining (no FG here to force upon me his views anymore!) and gave it a few runs through on my iPod.

Top album, which is a step in a different direction to TOTBL, which is pleasantly surprisingly and Antics, for mine, stands as the better album.

Beautiful studying music.

8.5 Hellos out of 10

Hellos!!! GOLD

Hmm, I've bought quite a few albums recently so I'll just do a few for now:

The Bravery [Self-Titled]
--------------------------------------
I bought this after hearing "An Honest Mistake" on Triple J a few times. At first I was a bit dissapointed as none of the tracks really jumped out at me like "An Honest Mistake" did, but after repeated listenings, it's really grown on me...not up there with Bloc Party, Frans Ferdinand or The Killers, but it's a good album worthy of a listening by fans of that genre. ;)

Stand-out Tracks:
  • An Honest Mistake
  • No Brakes
  • Tyrant
  • Public Service Announcement
  • The Ring Song
7.5 out of 10

The Chemical Brothers - Push the Button
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another great album from the Chemical Brothers with some really good songs on it. The songs range from menacing(Believe) to up-beat(Marvo Ging) to chillout(Close Your Eyes) to good-old clubbing music(Galvanize(DUN-DUN-DUUNN! :dance3: ))
I'd hold it up there with their last album "Come With Us", top effort guys.

Stand-out Tracks:
  • Galvanize (feat Q-Tip)
  • The Boxer
  • Believe (feat Kele Okereke[From the Bloc Party!])
  • Close Your Eyes
  • Hold Tight London
  • Shake Break Bounce
  • Marvo Ging
9 out of 10

Next purchase will probably be the Kaiser Chiefs.

That is all. :ph43r:

Wolf Parade - EP

This is the next big indie thing. Their debut is realeased on September 27. Going to be massive. If you want to be cool like me, and say, "I KNEW THEM BEFORE THEY WERE FAMOUS!", then get on this shit now.

5/5
