Title: Hi! I'm a noob!
Sweating Bullets - May 2, 2004 06:05 AM (GMT)
Howdy guys!!
I just joined today and was wondering if someone could help me out on a few things.
Firstly how long have the forums been around?
Which leads me to my next question, how did you guys get sooo many posts that quick?
Please don't yell at me!
oVerCaffeinated - May 2, 2004 06:13 AM (GMT)
1. Been here since the hacking of Hyper.
2. We have got high post counts because we got them transfered from Hyper, email a MOD if you want your postcount back
3. You avatar rules!!! :ph43r:
Sweating Bullets - May 2, 2004 06:17 AM (GMT)
You don't think that the avatar is a bit much?
MrRae - May 2, 2004 06:18 AM (GMT)
Heya Bullets man, whats up? :)
But dude, change your avatar
oVerCaffeinated - May 2, 2004 06:18 AM (GMT)
I don't, but the mods might, I think this forum is supposed to be G rated :)
Inquisitor - May 2, 2004 06:21 AM (GMT)
Why hello there n00beh.
I bet you're new to the forums, or are you lost?
*Inquisitor pokes Sweating Bullets with a stick
I like your avatar... but a tad much.
Sweating Bullets - May 2, 2004 06:27 AM (GMT)
I'll try PM-ing one of the mods and see if they think that the avatar is too much.
I will happily change it =)
Sybatical - May 2, 2004 06:34 AM (GMT)
Vomiting Blood?
Cool! :D

It's different, I'll give you that.
OldSkOoL - May 2, 2004 07:26 AM (GMT)
A naked Hyatt coughing up blood.
How interesting.
Beast - May 2, 2004 07:30 AM (GMT)
perhaps comments on the avatar can go in the avatar thread - I see no reason to have the same discussion in two different topics.
Personally in the future I would like to see as little of these threads as possible. Perhaps noobs can read through the forum before they start asking questions.
No offence to you SB - But I've seen hundreds of these topics and they are mainly a waste of time and full of spam
josh - May 2, 2004 07:33 AM (GMT)
hey sweating you big champion, it's bi-mon... remember me? thought not :P
and dude, don't change the av! it's so awesome you should be a mod because of it! :)
Sweating Bullets - May 2, 2004 07:42 AM (GMT)
Howdy bi-mon-sci-fi-con!!
Beast: The purpose of the thread isn't to talk about my avatar. In my first post i ask a few questions about the forums and what not. Somewhere down the line I managed to deviate the discussion to the avatar.
Beast - May 2, 2004 07:43 AM (GMT)
Even better idea - how about creating a noobs forum - where noobs can come in and ask questions and get adopted or whatever you want. I've seen that on a few forums and it works really well!

Heh, SB is actually a veteran from Hyperactive, so take this thread in jest :P ;)

Long time no see and welcome ;)

well I made my first post at hyperative around 99 or 2000. I got about about 1000 posts then stopped by the start of 2001 and started posting again this year. I remember people like the Coconut King (I was lizard_king and we got on well...) but not you.
At least you are honest.

I'm starting to like you.
o___o
EDIT: Any friend of Coco's is a friend of mine! Give me a hug, bitch! ^___^
BrotherEstapol - May 2, 2004 08:49 AM (GMT)
Hey it's Sweaty! :o
Good to see you here man! :D
Are you going to get a comic books thread going? :P

From what I can tell, some of the people who joined Hyper post-November 2002 are now considered Vets.
Though that's just from what I can tell. :)
That reminds me...why isn't Coco here. :(

To clarify...
These forums were originally conceived on the 21st (as Civ, Mach and my join dates indicate). They opened sometime before the second hacking on Hyper.
On another note, the title of this thread is misleading - you're not a newbie SB and you know it! Grrrrr...
Beast, I think the whole holier than thou attitude is rubbing people the wrong way. Since you started posting it's been "Evolution isn't as good as this forum I Mod" and "Evolution isn't as good as this other forum I mod". You seem to have a lot of problems with this place, yet you continue to post.

Of course, pre November 2002 could mean they joined in 99! ;)
EDIT: It was a typo Texta, I had too many windows open at once!

Unless they've changed the definition of "post" or someone has been playing a very nasty trick on me for the last 19 years, I'd suggest that post November 2002 means after November 2002... unless you're talking in like ewok years or something.
Sweating Bullets - May 2, 2004 10:19 PM (GMT)
I agree with Beast in making a Noobie Thread. Sounds like a smart idea.
Tehehe.. I am noob here Gregg and you know it!! ;)

Why don't you just change your status to the "spaminator".
Never before have I seen someone with such a preachy attitude to not posting "spam". It's a bit much now...
But, I must say that these welcome threads, especially from Hyper veterans aren't really necessary.

Yeah, I meant people who had joined AFTER Novemeber 2002. :P
Beast; I know you may think that your helping, but with the way your saying things, it seems like your trying to moderate these forums.
Junker - May 3, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
Well, yeah. Seeing as we as of now have no mods I guess he can be forgiven.
Beast - May 3, 2004 02:42 AM (GMT)
hmm - I seem to be coping a lot of criticism.
I just think that since this forum is very new - now is a good time to express my opinions on what makes a good forum and how this forum can be improved.
I've never been a person who gives a lot of compliments - but I think this forum is really good - it's much better than hyperactive - and most (maybe all) of the members are Australian - which means they are online when I am. There is also a lot less egoish bragging that occures in the forums I moderate. So on some issues - this is definitly a better forum - on others, that I've mentioned previously - maybe not - but I check all equally.
I'm sure some of you may dislike me comparing forums - but surely it is better to pick the best aspects of a number of forums and combine them into a superiour, dare I say, evolved forum. There are a lot of people here who have a lot of experience in the running of forums and know what makes them work and what doesn't - through expressing ideas and being critical of those ideas I think we can make this a long lasting cult forum.
anyway I'm sorry if people don't like what I post, or the way I say it - but I'm not sorry for what I say.
finalazy - May 3, 2004 09:45 AM (GMT)
No ones really a noobie if they've come from hyper.

But it's comparing apples and oranges when you come to a forum about footbag, and a forum about gaming and other forms of entertaining media.

Nicely spoken. Your compliment is much appreciated Beast. :)
