Title: Animal Crossing DS
Description: It's wifi-sombrerotastic!

Gio - July 16, 2005 12:47 PM (GMT)
:woot: WOO! :whistling:

Animal Crossing DS! It's like the ultimate game, with the carpet and the fish etc.
I invested (lost is probably a better word :P) about half a year of my life into the Gamecube version.

I'm gonna go crazytastic when this comes out. I'm surprised no-one has talked about this..

Wow this thread is stupid! Here's a picture:

I can vote for everything in the poll  .

This game does show promise and I may consider it, the WiFi capability is the big selling point, since the game was born to be online :D .

This game does look pretty awesome, although Animal Crossing on GameCube got old fast for me... Hopefully online play and the portability in general will make this game great. I'll wait to read some reviews before I decide for sure though, but I'm almost certain that I will get this game (even though I voted maybe (I wish I'd voted yes now though, just for the part about doing a little dance :P)).

I haven't visited this section of the forums for a while so what better way to start doing so again than with this thread?
While I am still yet to own the GCN version, this game is definitely my first purchase for my DS. So much so that I am not buying my DS until this is released. Considering there is no release date yet, I guess I won't be getting a DS until next year.

cd2 - August 29, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
Well they say that it will be out by the end of the year, even tho its not on any realese list as yet.

UltraGekko - August 30, 2005 09:17 AM (GMT)
Actually I've heard the European version won't come out till 2006. US version is still set for a Nov 21st release date. NAL released the US version of AC on the Cube over here so they probably won't wait for the version with all the unecessary European languages.

Of course being region free the DS makes importing easy.

BrotherEstapol - August 30, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
Would be good if they made the seasons correct for us this time...though since they'd really only be changing it for Australia and New-Zealand, I can't see that happening. :(

UltraGekko - August 30, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah I forgot about that. Surely it shouldn't be too hard. Just a matter of shifting season clock forward or backwards by 6 months.

BrotherEstapol - August 30, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
Chirstmas in July!?

UltraGekko - August 30, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
Hmm you got a point. I didn't think of the seasons being locked to the holidays. Can't you just shift when the graphic changes (i.e. the texture sets) occur without moving the events?

borgster101 - August 31, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
The seasons were not changed in the Australian release, and that came out almost a year after the US release so I doubt it.

It doesnt matter too much because you are in the world of 'Animal Crossing', not Australia.

UltraGekko - August 31, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
Yeah and living in the Northern Territory means we only have two seasons - wet and dry.

cd2 - September 26, 2005 12:08 PM (GMT)
Buckle up boys and girls, Nintendo Australia has it listed for Decemeber this year! Yeah baby.

Gio - September 27, 2005 09:44 AM (GMT)
I hope it makes it to release before the 25th..

borgster101 - September 27, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
You would assume that would be the case Gio :)

[NDS] Multiplayer details for Animal Crossing: Wild World | Link to Individual Story

Some new Animal Crossing: Wild World gameplay details, specifically having to do with the multiplayer gameplay options, have come to light this morning, courtesy Nintendo of America:

DS Local Area Network

When players are within wireless range of other people who have Animal Crossing: Wild World, they can travel to one other's towns. One person will be the host and open up his or her town gate to visitors. Up to three others within range can exit their town gates to travel to the host's town, where they can do all sorts of things: fish, write letters to townsfolk, shop at the store, cut down trees, anything. Up to four players can interact in real time, communicating with text messages and emoticons. (All players must have game cards for multiplayer mode.)

After players visit another town, the following events may take place.

One of the characters in the town they visited might move to their town, and a character from their town might move to the town they visited.
"Bottle mail," a bottle containing a letter written by someone in another town, might wash ashore in their town.
Constellations created by someone visiting their town might appear in the night sky.
This mode is open to anyone in Local Wireless range – there is no need for people to pre-register on friend rosters.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection

Wireless multiplayer mode plays the same as the DS Local Area Network multiplayer, except that players connect using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Players must know one another and register one another to their friend roster before they can connect. For example, if player A plans to visit player B's town, both player A and B need to register each other's names. The friend roster window is accessible anytime during the game. There are two ways to register names to the friend roster:

Register using DS Local Area Network mode. When players visit another town, they can register the host and other visitors to their friend roster, and others in the town can register them to their lists as well. Players also can register anyone who visits their town, and visitors also can register players in the towns they visit. It's very easy to register friends. Players simply tap the friend roster icon, then tap the names of the people they want to register – they'll instantly be added to the friend roster.
Players can register the Friend Registration Key, or password, of a person they want to play with. Players receive Friend Registration Keys when they register their games with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. They can then exchange friend codes with others by phone/e-mail/online bulletin boards and use them to add their friends to their lists.

Online retailers are posting the release as 8th of Dec this year.... Quick pre order now.

BrotherEstapol - October 13, 2005 09:38 AM (GMT)
Feh, no point in pre-ordering, I always see plenty of copies of popular games on the shelves on release day.

So unless you can't get to the shop on the day it comes out, I can't see why you'd bother. :P

borgster101 - October 13, 2005 11:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah pre ordering is useless.

Gio - October 26, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
Just thought I'd bring this to people's attention.

There be my Animal Crossing details. Why did I bump this thread? I think it's time we visited each others towns, I need more items after all. ;)

That is, if anyone still plays...

borgster101 - July 22, 2006 02:00 AM (GMT)
Well I dont have the game, so...

NismoR34 - July 23, 2006 02:55 PM (GMT)
Well...

I dunno what to say. No harm in trying. ;)

This thread can die again then.
