Title: Overclocking.
Description: The hardware overclocking thread.

Yes, here's a little thread where we can all brag about our great overclocking achievements. Don't forget to post before and after benchmarks so we can see results. Knowing you're 100 mhz higher is pointless unless we can see the improvement made :D
---
Here's my default setup:
AMD 2600+ Barton @ 1.91ghz (Good overclocker despite the locked multiplier, recommended for cheap results!)
512mb DDR400 RAM
Radeon 9600 XT
So far i have only pushed the cpu up, but plan to have a go with the 9600 xt soon. The 2600+ has been able to go up to 2.2ghz so far, but i've heard that 2.4ghz is a possibility with a decent cooling setup (as i'm only using the stock stuff at the moment). The difference is usually 3dmark03 going from around 3750 to 3850.

I've got my AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (th'bred B) at 2.07Ghz with stock cooling. I can't run a benchmarking program because my video card is shit (an nVIDIA TNT2).

Well my CPU ain't going anywhere, it's in a motherboard that can't overclock and I've got the crappy Palamino core :( I've overclocked my Geforce4 Ti4600 with ram sinks from 300/600 to 320/700, I'm planning to see if I can go further, once I get it's limit I'll edit the BIOS so the overclock is set in hardware.

And get either 1 of these cases:

I wont be overclocking my computer due to it being shared with my brother, but when I get my new one, it should be Athlon 64 3800+ with X800Pro. Think of the power :D
Inquisitor - May 2, 2004 11:42 AM (GMT)
WAHHH! NO! thebigm!! You'll kill us all!!
And you do know that the Athlon 64 alone is almost $1500?

Sorry Inquis, thats the Athlon 64FX.
The Athlon 64 starts at around $350.
Oh and, dont get 1.5Gb of RAM. Its overkill. Besides, you'll muck up any dual channel setup that you might have.
Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1943mhz (11.5 X 169mhz) @ 1.74V w/ Stock HSF
2 * 256mb PC2100 (266mhz) Kingston @ 338mhz @ 2.6V
Geforce 2 Mx400 @ 220/180 (from 200/143) @ Stock Voltage
(From my sig at overclockers australia (its standard practice to have your hardware and overclock w/ details in your signature there).
Thats the highest I can get stable, the RAM really cant OC higher than that and my mobo doesnt have any RAM dividers. I used to have my RAM latencies tweaked but that started making it unstable with the fsb overclock so I pushed them back.

I've overclocked my XP 1700+ to an XP 2000+........but it wouldn't get past the POST screen :(

Get 2x 1Gb, rendering programs and Photoshop will run like cream :D

i've got my 2.8 prescott at 3.08 and my ddr400 ram at 440mhz, i can push it higher, but for that i have to raise the voltage, which gets me temps of around 59 degrees under full load, i'll push it further when i get a new cpu fan though :P.
Naclj - May 3, 2004 01:47 PM (GMT)
ive got my
P4 2.4GHz @ 2.55GHz
512MB pc2700
and my radeon 9800xt at 414/740
my cpu is as far as it will go and theoreticaly my video card is at default but for some reason mine was clocked at 400MHz instead of the standard 412MHz.
i cant return it cos i didnt realise something was wrong till after i oced it and had it max out at its (suposed default speeds)
Lordage - May 4, 2004 12:06 PM (GMT)
Wow Inquisitor, your system is exactly the same as mine, just I have a better Video Card. :P
I will overclock my Video Card and CPU eventually, just there is no need yet. I'd rather do it when I need too and when I know I can get a new one for cheap. :P
Kid Wakelin - May 7, 2004 05:12 AM (GMT)
I was going to overclock my 2400 t'bred...but I havent gotten around to buying my new video card yet (it was going to be a 9800pro but atm I have no cash, and by the time I do the new gf and ATi cards will be out so I will wait until then).
Basically atm I have no need for it, although I installed my volcano 12 for the sole purpose of cooling the oc'd CPU. Pity it won't be oc'd for another month now.
Btw Inquisitor, get the SuperLanboy, I bought one and it's awesome
