Title: What song always cheers you up/calms you down?
BrotherEstapol - July 9, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
After I finished bitching in the bitch thread, I thought I'd listen to a song to calm me down/cheer me up.
El Maņana by the Gorillaz calmed me down(though didn't cheer me up that much :P ), and Float On by Modest Mouse seemed to make me feel much better. :)
So does anyone else have any songs that calm you down and/or cheer you up?

I seem to neither listen to "Two Lane Blacktop" by Rob Zombie, of CoB's "Hate Me!".
"Hate Me!" is my lucky song, I suck at 10 Pin bowling, and when I was listening to the song, I scored 3 consecutive Strikes :P

Anything from U2 usually calms me down. No specific songs really

If i'm in a shitty mood i usually chuck on "D12 - Fight Music" or something along those lines and then i crank it on my headphones. It doesn't exactly calm me down <_<.

Top stuff Eyce dude, top stuff. ;)
This may sound geekish or whatever but I find that most video game OSTs manage to cheer me up. Final Fantasy, Zelda, ICO, Metal Gear Solid - whatever. It puts me in a good mood again, most of the time.
Real songs however? Well singers such as Dido or even Kelly Clarkson (shut up) cheer me up. Nightwish manage to cheer me up everytime as well. That is to be expected though considering they're the best band ever...

Pretty much anything by The Gathering will cheer me up/calm me down. The newer stuff moreso than the old stuff though.

System of a Down will usually cheer me up. It's just the crazy, happy sound they have going on some songs.

I have a playlist in my iPod called Valium just for that.
It has all the songs that make me happy, most of which are the obnoxiously cute ones (So a lot of Under 17 songs) ^_^

Emo mood = Anything by Bright Eyes.
Cheer me up/calms me down = 'Strawberry Fields Forever' by The Beatles.

What do you recommend from Bright Eyes, Jackie?

Lights by Eri Nobuchika is definately my new cheer up song. Classical or chill out usually calms me down. If I want to have a go at slashing my wrists, then radiohead is great!

I was just reminded of that ad that goes "He's just Radiohead fan" ^_^

'Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh' is the song that has the biggest fanbase following, but it really depends on what you're looking for. If you're after some Dylanish protest/angry stuff, then try his album 'Lifted' (in particular songs like 'Let's Not Shit Ourselves [to Love and be Loved]' or 'From a Balance Beam'). However, if you're after something a bit more relaxed/chilled, then go for his latest disc 'I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning' (with songs such as 'Lua' [which was number 1 in the States a couple of months ago] or 'First Day of My Life' and also 'Landlocked Blues').

Under The Bridge and Californication by Red Hot Chilli Peppers calm me down. Also, this song called Merkaba (Live) puts me to sleep, due to it's calming effect. It really is a brilliant song. Too bad it's been misnamed and isn't actually by Tool.
I'd love to know what band does sing this song as I think it is one of the best songs I have ever heard.

If you post some lyrics, then I might be able to help.
[m]averick - July 16, 2005 05:00 AM (GMT)
That's the thing, it barely has any lyrics, sounds almost identical to something that Tool has produced, yet isn't Tool.
MIND-BOGGLING!
Maybe I could host it somewhere and people could download it?
BrotherEstapol - July 16, 2005 08:57 AM (GMT)
You said it was a live version didn't you? Perhaps it actually is a Tool song that was recorded a performance, yet a studio version was never recorded, and it was a bonus track with an Album or EP.
I've got some APC songs that aren't on any albums(though they aren't that good on the quality side) that were recorded at concerts, so it could be the case with this one.

If I want to be cheered up, I put a happy, up-beat song on. These two are kinda those party songs that get everyone happy IMO.
Spaz's House Destruction Party - Anti-Flag
Grand Theft Autumn - Fall Out Boy
I can't explain just how much the latter cheers you up. It's so... happy. :P

I worked it out. Merkaba (live) and You Lied (Live) had been switched (as in the names were on the wrong songs) and as I'd never listened to You Lied before about two days ago I finally worked it out.
You Lied is awesome for peacing out.

The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson calms me down...actually, it kinda depresses me. :P
