Title: Halo 2 Tournament
Description: Revised Fixtures. (13/7)
Shadow Knight - June 12, 2005 07:09 AM (GMT)
Well peeps, there's no real explanatiom needed for this really. :P
I'm thinking a round robin style, with groups, depending on numbers.
Also: What should it be, team based (2 or 3 a team) or every peep for himself or even both?
I'm going to be doing this on 2 forums (Hyper + Evo) so we can have a larger, better, proper tourney.
Of course, it will take place over Live
Feel free to make suggestions.
Post if interested.

Interested.
I think teams sounds good, but to keep it fair, a random way of choosing the teams would be the way to go I think.
ultracrazy1 - June 13, 2005 01:10 AM (GMT)
I think there should be several slayer matches on different levels, with default weapons. That should show who the no.1 player is. I would like to know who that is (definately not me). Actually I'd guess its out of Syb, Civ, and Mach.
If its going to be an actual competition, and there's teams allowed, there isn't really going to be a definitive winning team. I have an idea though that I'm sure some of you won't like, but here goes: Each team consists of only 1 forum member and 2 (or 3) of their friends from elsewhere. Then the winning team would be associated with one forum member.
The only reason I suggest that style is because its a competition, and we're looking for a winner.
StueyRowls - June 13, 2005 01:21 AM (GMT)
Count me in. I agree with Civ that the teams should be randomly picked in some way.
Standard slayer matches should be just the map defaults, just as ultracrazy said, otherwise if you are just having rockets, snipers etc... you don't get an idea of who the best all-round player is.
I don't know how you team idea would work ultracrazy as I think it will be hard enough to get the forum members on at the same time, let alone some of their friends aswell. Maybe we could have a non-compulsory round with friends if people are interested.

You sir, need a kick up the wazoo for such an idea. :P
Shadow Knight - June 14, 2005 06:26 AM (GMT)
Ok so far we have the follwoing people in the tourney:
Shadow Knight (Shad0Knight)
cube_punk (cubepunk)
Pauly (Pau1y)
DJ Civic (Civ01)
Syb (InfernalEternal)
ultracrazy (ultracrazy1)
Inquisitor (Siniroth)
StueyRowls (StueyRowls)
So far teams are going to be picked at random [as will groups (ala pools) will be too if we get enough] picking them out of ye olde hat methinks
BrotherEstapol - June 14, 2005 10:10 AM (GMT)
I'll join in!
>_>
What? Someone has to come last! :P
Machiavelli - June 14, 2005 11:11 AM (GMT)
Nice, this should be sweet. Count me in for sure.
Shadow Knight - June 14, 2005 12:24 PM (GMT)
Ok i have a bit of a problem here. What should teh teams be, random or self organised?
The argumen for random teams is that it's going to be fair. The arguments for self-organised teams is that people will have more fun, i,e. people who have been playing with each other, know each other's styles against other teams will be more competitive, etc, etc
So instead of clogging up this thread, just PM me saying whether you would like random or self-organised teams. No reasons needed.
DJ-Civic - June 14, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
RANDOM!!!11!!1
The point of random is to give everyone a chance as not everyone plays together or "know eachother's styles". It'll make things more challenging for everyone.

Totally agree, my vote is for random teams. Have you got a date set in stone yet?
DJ-Civic - June 15, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
Actually, after tonight's games, I think Mach, B3eanie, ShadowKnight and myself make a good team... :ph43r:
Shadow Knight - June 19, 2005 05:12 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking of a close off date (for entries) at the end of the month, depending on numbers, and remeber to say whether you want random teams or self organised teams.
I'm not voting unless it ends up a deadlock.
ultracrazy1 - June 19, 2005 07:14 AM (GMT)
I vote for random teams (because I'm crap).

Like the other tournament, this is taking waaaaaay too long to get started.
When civ said "how about this weekend" a while back, there was more than 10 of us there that weekend.
Just bloody set a date, and make it within 2 weeks please. Last time after over a month of planning, 3 people showed up.
Shadow Knight - June 30, 2005 12:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah thats why im throwing out the 'fixed date' rule, it was shit from the start and prevented from all the peeps showing up. Things will hopefully be up & runnign within the next week.
Patience.
DJ-Civic - June 30, 2005 12:49 PM (GMT)
I might as well start a Halo 3 tournament now and hopefully we'll be ready by then.
:P
Shadow Knight - July 4, 2005 05:29 AM (GMT)
Ok i got things organised, teams and groups, i should have the final fixtures ready soon.
By the way EVERYTHING is random (read: drawn out of a hat) i did not fix anything, beleive it or not.

MidshipDon't like it? Tough, random won out and the maps and groups were always going to be random.
Anyways, weapons will be set to Map default as will vehicles and the like. Unfortunately two per teams isn't enough for Team Skirmish so the games will have to be team Slayer unless you can recruit some more peeps.
You will post the results here or PM them to me please don't say
we beat
them 30-0. Post a link from bungie.net (eg,
Match I)
The score limit will be set to 30 with a 7 minute time limit.
the two top teams on each group go through to the finals, in case two teams are tied for second (say they both got 2 wins and 1 loss) it would depend on their kill-death point diference. (eg, if my team had over all 60 kills and 59 deaths, and the other team had 40 kills and 20 deaths, the other team would go through.)
i'm pretty sure ive missed out something but i'll post it later.
If there are too many complaints then ima just quit and give the 'responsibility' of organisation to someone else
*breathes out* :P
EDIT: IF there are too many complaints about stages like Waterworks ill change it to make the maps better for 2v2

You better start practicing or i'll keep killing you in our matches. :cheese:
ultracrazy1 - July 4, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
Hm, I wonder why Shadow Knight was so adamant that its random? :P
I think I know who's gonna win this.
Well Beanie is very good, I'll work on my game and we shouldn't do too bad.
The real contest will be the slayer matches I reckon.
Shadow Knight - July 5, 2005 12:05 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah peeps, organise games through PM, MSN, mIRC etc to save this thread getting clogged up.
Also, Should the finals be played on just one map, or random maps?
EDIT: You can start playing your Rnd I matches straight away, you just have to wait until everybody have completed Rnd I, til we can get to Rnd II.
Shadow Knight - July 13, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
Noone played any of their games as of yet, and if they did their results will not be ignored, but too many complaints about the large maps in the tourney made me revise the fixtures.
Ok i updated the fixtures to take out the big maps here were the maps that were 'in the hat'. :P
- Lockout
- Ascension
- Midship
- Ivory Tower
- Beaver Creek
- Colossus
- Foundation
- Warlock
- Sanctuary
- Turf
The following maps were not included due to their size.
- Burial Mounds
- Zanzibar
- Coagulation
- Headlong
- Waterworks
- Containment
NOTE: The five maps just released over Live last week weren't included either. For the curious those maps were.
- Backwash
- Elongation
- Gemini
- Relic
- Terminal
Ok so here are the revised fixtures.

Hopefully we can organise something this weekend. You up for it Estapol?
ultracrazy1 - July 15, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
Yeah our group should get getting the first round done this weekend. If you guys also have your first matches this weekend things can speed along nicely.
Shadow Knight - July 15, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
Just remeber peeps, the weapon set is set to Map default, 30 kills 7 minutes.
If i get the time i'll post up peeps contacts [PMs and emails (Only with permission, i wont be spamming peeps emails without their permission of course ;)]
Don't forget to get one person of the match to post the results from bungie.net too.
