Hey team, after reading PCPP's 100 best games of all time and thinking what a load of crap. I thought perhaps we could do a better job.

So here's how it's going to work. Come up with the ten games you think are the best ever and rank them in order. Then PM you vote to me and in a while I'll post up the results. I figure if voting is private then the results may be more interesting or something.

Great idea man, I've PM'd you my top 10... I've played so many games it was hard to choose. So I generally just chose more recent games that I can actually remember...

Just should mention that expansion packs don't count as seperate games. However Mods do. So if you love CSS but hate HL2 then vote for CSS but not HL2.

Just a question, what about cross platform games. Say if I vote for the X-Box version of The Chronicles of Riddick and someone votes for the PC version. Will it all just be tallied together or what?

Yeah, especially given that some people haven't said what system their game is on, in most instances I've just lumped things together (I'm keeping track of the votes as they come in so there's not a massive amount of shit to do at the end).

Just a little thing, make sure you're really clear about the title of the games. I'd much prefer something like "1. Crash Bandicoot 2" than "1. Cortex Strikes Back" So if you can go for the most over arching thing possible that would make things easier (and would save me having to look weird arse games up on the net and also the embarrasment that will occur when I release the list and people realise that the 2nd and 5th ranked games are both the same!).

Yeah I reckon there will be a tad of varity on these forums, unlike PCPP we have people here who game on every platform... The result should be GG.

It was actually harder than I initially thought as I thought I would struggle to get 10 games, but then I ended up having to cull a list of about 25 games, all of which could have easily made the top ten.

It will be interesting to see what gets the number 1 spot...

Just thinking of a list is so hard, and it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. Sad because there will never be anymore games that feel the same way you did when you were a kid, but happy because you were able to play them and experience them.

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that Mario 64, or Zelda OoT will take the blue ribbon. ;)

I hope its not Mario 64, tbh that game didn't really leave an impression on me.

My favourite game was ET for the Atari 2600. It's awsome, I picked up a copy of it on ebay :)

the thing is that i havent really kept up with games in the last 12 or so months, my most recent game is GT4 and before that it was an illegal copy of NFSU2 - recently the games that have been coming out just havent appealed...

im sure there are some games that should be on the list i sent that i havent played cos im a bit out of the loop...

It's the best game ever so if you were a gamer in previous gennerations you should still have a lot to choose from.

auikid, what platform(s) do you own? You don't plat GTA? God of War is getting a PAL release on PS2, get it. Try Mercenaries too. And find some good Platinum games like the Jak games. BTW, JAK X is looking fantastic.

Best game ever is such a subjective topic ... not only that, but can you imagine if someone actually played some of the 'best games ever' today?

I actually connected my old megadrive to my TV the other day, just to see if i could, and loaded up one of my all time favourite games: toejam and earl. Now back in the day, i LOVED this game ... but i really couldnt play it much at all, it just wasn't all that fun, it felt so pointless and ... well ... old. I felt like i was wasting my time. Some great games are better left in the past, better left in our memories where they belong.

ditto. I tried (I really did) playing Super Mario Bros on NES a year ago I remember, it wasn't as fun as it used to be.

well i have a sega mega drive, a N64 a PS2 and a PC I also have a GBC if that even counts nemore and i used to have a sega master system which unfortunately was sold - but i still have alot of those games emulated.

well i played GTA:VC along time ago on PC and intended to get San Andreas but never got around to it.

and i dont even know what CTR, Mercinaries or God of War are? I dont like patform games that much so Jak is sort of out of the question. One game i would like to pick up from somewhere is Ico but i cant find it newhere - i really should have put that on my list but didnt think of it till just now.
