meh! It sure is no Half Life 2. :P

Seriously, looks pretty damn good. Is it running on the U3 engine?

BrotherEstapol - May 10, 2005 02:52 PM (GMT)
Yup, I'd say say this'll be one of Epic's flagsihp titles to promote the Unreal Engine 3.0.

Manny M - May 11, 2005 07:17 AM (GMT)
Jiminy! Look at the damn faces!

Looks like we'll be MP'ing it up once again in 2007 estapol ;)

BrotherEstapol - May 11, 2005 07:39 AM (GMT)
2006 man, it's due out next year. :D

Which gives me plenty of time to upgrade. :)

DJ-Civic - May 11, 2005 01:59 PM (GMT)
You think my current system could run that? Or would I need a better graphics card?

BrotherEstapol - May 11, 2005 02:17 PM (GMT)
I'd say it would run it, though not with that much detail.

The Unreal tech demos shown at E3 and the GDCs were running on a 6800 Ultra(Manny's card) which currently goes for around $900.

Manny M - May 12, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
WOOT! I knew buying that card would come in handy.

I'll buy that card next year then for $250. :cheese: :P

ElPresidente - May 12, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
Don't get too excited 6800 Ultra owners (or we X800XTers either) those videos showed some slow down... I dare say even todays top of the line cards will need to turn the detail down some to get the above at playable frame rates.

BrotherEstapol - May 13, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, which is making me hesitant in buying that 6800 GT now...I'm wondering if I should just wait till the next gen of Nvidia cards are released. :(

Texta - May 14, 2005 04:55 AM (GMT)
new ati cards aren't far away are they?

BrotherEstapol - May 14, 2005 05:11 AM (GMT)
June-July I believe.

I'm pretty sure the next Nvidia range will be revealed around the same time.

quartz_donkey - May 14, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
Which is fine but there is always someting better just around the corner, you could end up waiting forever.

UltraGekko - May 14, 2005 08:52 AM (GMT)
ATI are also releasing their MVP (Multi Visual Processing) technology as well (it's their own version of Nvidia's SLI). The word is that any ATI card may be used as the secondary card so all you would need is to buy a new ATI card and use your current card to boost its performance.

ElPresidente - May 14, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
Rather than wait for the next ATi cards or the next nVidia cards try waiting for both to come out and make your purchases decision based on real bench marks.

nVidia fans got burnt with the FX series of cards which were destoryed by the 9000 series of ATi cards.

Don't owe nVidia or ATi your loyalty, just buy the best performing card.

BrotherEstapol - May 14, 2005 11:16 AM (GMT)
Thats what I did this time around, and I was all set to buy a 6800GT, but now I want a card that'll run the U3.0 engine, and going by last years demo, I'd say the 6800 GT wouldn't be th best card to have....

So I've decised to wait it out till the next gen of cards, see how they turn out.

And a new motherboard <_<

Which usually also means a new CPU...

The main gameplay details Epic is talking about at this point concern the new Conquest mode where two sides battle over objectives in an attempt to take over the space on the map in a tug of war. An interesting twist to this mode is that the environment can change based on what's happening in the game. Brown cited an example he had seen in another game where an evil team started performing well and the trees in the game world died, and noted that these kinds of changes will be fairly significant to the environments in UT 2007.

The demo also showed off the Axon vehicles such as the tank shown in the screenshots, but these are the standard vehicles players expect from the game. Epic is adding nine Necris vehicles that will be more futuristic and add some creativity to the game design. Additionally, there will be a hoverboard, which players can use in place of a weapon, so for those who want to go all Back to the Future and grab onto the back of a vehicle or do crazy stunts in the game, you'll be able to -- you just won't be able to carry a weapon at the same time.

Ok, this game sounds awesome! :P

Omni - May 15, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
This will be the first game I'm gonna get right after I buy my new nVidia 7900 GT.

f15active - May 15, 2006 06:03 AM (GMT)
LOL, exactly 1 year bump by Omni.

To be on topic though, I won't buy this. :P Seriously though, the Unreal Tournament fast paced action style of play isn't really what I like.

bacon - May 31, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
is that actually in game. i dont think my 9700 will run it. shame because ut2004 was awesome

Random Hero - June 1, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
there is no way in hell my pc will run this beast of a game....ill probably end up getting on 360 when i eventually get one....just to save myself the hassle of upgrading

Jiro - June 22, 2006 01:22 PM (GMT)
they actually say that it will run on a respecable persons computer. the way they render the models, they use two different meshes and somehow makes for a smooth gameplay. ill try find the article where i found that.

BrotherEstapol - June 22, 2006 01:42 PM (GMT)
Yeah that'd be with a LOD system.
I'd elaborate, but my back is killing me at the moment, so I'm gonna go to bed. :(

FreakyLime - February 16, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
Looking forward to this one.

Unreal Tournament 2004 was a blast. Whether it had been single player, or multi player, you had so many choices to choose from. All the custom maps, skins, textures and weapons were so good and bringing even more life into it, and I'm expecting UT2007 to have the same, if not bigger, community.

Mod(ifications).

Man am I looking forward to these. Unreal Tournament '04 had Red Orchestra, Unwheel, Frag Ops and so many more it was amazing. Turning it into a WW2 battlefield, racing game, soccer game or whatever, people were doing it.

Closing Comments: I want.

Robert - February 22, 2007 01:38 AM (GMT)
No current pc can run max settings on UT2007.

GI: Unreal has always scaled really well, from low-end hardware all the way to the high end. Where do you think the sweet spot is? What do you think it takes for a rig to be able to put Unreal through all of its paces?

Rein: We always aim Unreal for systems that people don’t have yet. (laughs) Whether its UT or any Unreal game, so I think the sweet spot has yet to show up. Again, it’s 64-bit and a ton of RAM, like an NVIDIA dual 8800s and Core 2 Extreme Quad processor—you could certainly build a super rig, but UT3 with everything turned up all the way is still going to struggle on that kind of thing

This puts the 6800ultra debate to rest. Even if it could max at 1024x768 it would be very jaggy and you would want to either bump up the res or enable aa and drop ingame settings.
