Title: Next big game on GameCube?
Description: What's next?

DJ-Civic - April 18, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
Just wondering - what's the next big game coming out on GameCube that's NOT Zelda? RE4 has come and gone and that seems to be the only must have title until Zelda. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
I find it a bit sad to see the Cube's game lineup thin out more and more every month. :/

ultracrazy1 - April 18, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
The next big game would probably be fire emblem. Killer 7 and Baten Kaitos prolly arrive sooner, but with all 3 consoles and a PC you might not want to mess with them.

~DC - April 19, 2005 12:45 AM (GMT)
Killer 7.

UltraGekko - April 19, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
Donkey Konga 2 :P Seriously though, unless there is a couple surprises at E3 it looks like us Cubers might have to start saving up for Revolution.

ElPresidente - April 19, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
Killer 7, I don't see Baiten Kaitos as a really big deal. Anticipated sure, but not a blockbuster as its a little niche in terms of people knowing about it.

BrotherEstapol - April 19, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Well, they aren't that big, but Giest, Star Fox:Assualt and Advance Wars: Under Fire are coming out this year.

But the two big ones I'd say would have to be Killer 7 and Fire Emblem.

There's also StarCraft: Ghost, but that's multiplatform.

UltraGekko - April 19, 2005 06:43 AM (GMT)
Technically Killer 7 is for PS2 as well...

BrotherEstapol - April 19, 2005 08:10 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but why would you buy the PS2 version?
Chances are, the GCN version will be better since it's been in development for longer and the GCN's more powerful.

DJ-Civic - April 19, 2005 01:10 PM (GMT)
I'm just glad I'm a multiplatform gamer, as things don't look so rosey on the little Cube.
I forgot about Viewtiful Joe 2, but that's out already. Killer 7 looks great, but I'll wait for reviews. Baiten Kaitos? WTF is that? :P

/backslash - April 19, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
Well let's see....there's umm..World Championship Poker

Oh wait, here's some killer titles!

Seaworld Adventure Park-Season Pass
Paintball Tournament 2006
Cabela's Outdoor Adv.06

Lineup getting thinner? Get outta here! :P

cd2 - April 19, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
Baten Kaitos
Advance Wars: Under Fire
Fire Emblem
Geist
Mario Party 6
Star Fox Assault
Zelda
Donkey Konga 2
DDR with Mario

And crossplatform
Killer 7
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Starcraft: Ghost

Plus I'm sure I missed some. so theres still a alot of games that are coming out, its just a question if you want to buy them or not.

ElPresidente - April 20, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
Can someone explain to me the excitement behind Advance Wars. Unless there has been some changes I've not heard about happen recently, every single person who has played pre-release versions has called it absolutely horrid.

cd2 - April 20, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
For me it looks fun from the vids, I haven't played it tho so I can't say if it is. And I dont listen to gossip on pre release builds they are just that pre release.

ElPresidente - April 20, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
I come at it from the opposite end. With a drawer full of pre-release software (no not illegally gained, gained strictly for preview writing purposes) I've rarely seen a game re-invent itself part way through development. Generally the only thing that will change from pre-release to final release is the amount of bugs.

Granted I've not played it either but despite my love of the GBA games I've got no current desire to play this game.

I guess considiring little is known about the GCN version, it's still up there in the anticipation list.

For me the big Cube games I'm looking for on the horizon include;

Baten Kaitos
Killer 7
Fire Emblem
Pokemon XD (Full RPG)
The Legend of Zelda

Not a great list, but then again E3 is around the corner and I'm sure there will be more to be excited about after the event.

cd2 - April 20, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
Personally, I'm not to worried about the GCN, I'm all for a release of the Rev a freash start and all and hopefully fixed some of the GCN problems.

Isn't that what people said when they where waiting for the Dolphin?

ElPresidente - April 20, 2005 03:49 AM (GMT)
The only problems with the GCN aren't hardware related in my eyes. They are problems stemming from mismanagement of the system. Bar the lack of online support there was no reason Nintendo couldn't make up for the N64s loss to the PSX bar Nintendo themselves.

A new console wont help matters, Nintendo changing the way they do business will.

cd2 - April 20, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
Elpres thats what I mean by fixing some of the GCN problems, change in business direction and a fresh format should help aswell.

BrotherEstapol - April 20, 2005 04:13 AM (GMT)
Hmm, I wonder how the GCN would have done had Mircosoft not released the Xbox. :S

Gio - April 20, 2005 08:04 AM (GMT)
A fair bit better, I'd say. Damn Micro$oft and their money. :P

Titles I am anticipating:
FIRE EMBLEM! :)
Killer 7
Pokemon XD
Geist
Star Fox Assault
Donkey Konga 2 (possibly)
DDR with Mario
edit:
New Kirby Game :)
Viewtiful Joe Fighter

And obviously, The Legend of Zelda. Unlike some people I loved Windwaker, and this looks to be even better (and apparently it's using the windwaker engine).

Hello - April 21, 2005 08:55 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed Wind Waker, but to be honest I was really put off by the graphics. They looked a bit crap, IMO. So, yeah, I can't wait for a more realistic Zelda. And this aint a fanboy talking, just somebody who likes realistic graphics over graphics that a 3 year old could draw.

~DC - April 21, 2005 09:12 AM (GMT)
Those cel-shaded graphics supplied the Zelda franchise with an extra dimension. Nintendo were wise overhauling the traditional realistic graphics and saving them for now, because since the gameplay essentially stays the same there was only so long they could get away with churning out a realistic Zelda.

Sybatical - April 21, 2005 09:16 AM (GMT)
Fire Emblem
The Legend of Zelda

That should be enough, Then onto the Xenon!

UltraGekko - April 21, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
Just saw the FMV opening to Fire Emblem for Cube and wow, if Revolution can do that kind of cel-shading in realtime it'll be awesome, especially in a new Zelda game. You can have a mix of cel-shading and more 'traditional' anime style. I think the biggest beef some people have with Windwaker's style is not the cel shading per se but the fact the art style is like some Warner Bros cartoon rather than the 'popular' anime style at the moment.

FE CG Intro

Edit: Is it just me or does Ike sound like Link when he grunts?

borgster101 - April 22, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Cheers for that link UltraGekko :D , that was awesome.

i was actually a pretty big fan of the graphics, some of the prettiest and cleanest i've seen. i think some people see cell shading as a cop out and i guess in some cases it may be. but to make it look really classy is very hard to do but nintendo did it easily. while i am looking forward to a realistic link again and am confident it will be an improved experience, i appreciate nintendo's vision and bravery with windwaker. in spite of the kiddy console moniker, they said we wanna make zelda cartoony, asses to anyone who disagrees :D

Add Xbox's sales onto Sony's.

Yug - April 24, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
After Zelda, do you think Nintendo will be bringing any of their major franchises for another go on the cube? Or do you think they will hold out until their next gen system?

Hello - April 24, 2005 11:20 PM (GMT)
The Mario 128 no show at E3, IMO, proves that Ninty will not release anymore big name franchises on the Cube. I am truly excited about what the Revolution will bring in way of Mario games.

markymark: Wind Waker = Sucks :D

Agreed, Wind Waker rules :D

Zelda is probably going to be the last big Nintendo franchise on the cube, but lets not forget Pokemon XD, the full Pokemon console RPG, depending on which is released first, it'll be the last of the big franchises, unless E3 proves something different.

I actually liked the game :D I don't know really know why I said what I said.

markymark - April 27, 2005 09:37 AM (GMT)
that's the liquor talking, mate. i understand :D

Yug - April 27, 2005 12:31 PM (GMT)
Wind Walker, taken at face value but without the graphics, was fantastic ... I personally liked the graphics, but it comes down to personal taste really ... to be honest the thing that shit me the most about wind walker was being out in the middle of an ocean so much ... but thats just me :)

DJ-Civic - April 27, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
It wasn't just you, trust me...
I like WW's graphic style, but man, I'm LOVING the return to Ocarina of Time style graphics!

borgster101 - April 28, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
Also, the idea of exploring a huge world of land as opposed to a huge world of sea is exciting, the main things that hurt the Wind Waker expeirence for me, was the triforce piece fetch quest, and the little amount of environments to explore. I actually liked the sea, but what sucked was that most of the islands were extremely small, with nothing special about them. It looks like the new Zelda will address the issues that I had with the Wind Waker, which is great :D

DJ-Civic - May 4, 2005 01:17 PM (GMT)
Getting back on topic, thing don't look so hot for the GameCube in the month of April. Sad, sad month.

borgster101 - May 5, 2005 01:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah but that was the Ameican release, we got Viewtiful Joe 2 in April :woot: , awesome game by the way :) . Also got Zelda Four Swords Adventures, which is another great title (best use of GBA connectivity), if a bit late.

kami - May 5, 2005 02:18 AM (GMT)
Hmm, not actually anticipating anything for Gamecube. Perhaps it's time to consider selling my cube...
