Title: Robots
Description: Wow...no one made a topic about this...

Film Guru - April 1, 2005 11:34 AM (GMT)
I just came back from seeing Robots. I figured I'd show some respect to the hard working animators who made Ice Age. I enjoyed that film, so why not give this one a shot. Besides, Robin Williams looked funny in the trailer.

I don't know about anyone else, but I loved the film to bits. Hardly the most original story, or the best telling of it, but damn, I laughed so hard so many times. Robin was on fire the whole film, and the animation was so perfect to compliment the humour. Who'd have thought a fart joke could be so damn funny? Especially with the lampost, heh heh. :D

I'd say more, but I'm tired. Anyone else seen this film? Man, if only Robin was this funny in all hid films. Brilliant!

Gio - April 2, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
Someone saw it? :o *shockhorror*
So it's good, right? I've had a hard time deciding whether to see it.
Would you say it's "More incredible than the Incredibles"? Like the ad? <_< :P

Mykle - April 2, 2005 05:56 AM (GMT)
I've seen it. As you could tell by FG's reaction, it sucked.

Film Guru - April 2, 2005 07:20 AM (GMT)
Wait, I gotta make it clear, this is no Incredibles. There's zero emotion or well written dramatic moments. The only thing that makes it worth seeing is the humour, and, thankfully, the humour does a lot of great hits and only a few misses. Basically, if you took Robin Williams out, the film wouldn't be worth seeing.

A great way to kill time, but don't expect a Pixar-standard movie in terms of story and emotion.

WARNING: DO NOT SEE FILM IF YOU ARE LACKING SENSE OF HUMOUR (eg. Mykle) :P

Manny M - April 2, 2005 07:49 AM (GMT)
Well, i'm going to watch it tonight, based off your comments in your first post, but am now thinking twice, based upon your comments in your second post...

[m]averick - April 2, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)
I think the lack of any thread goes to show how the general public is getting bored of studios jumpin on the veritable cash cow and re-hashing what we've seen before. It's all the same, it's all too safe. Dare to be different..

Film Guru - April 2, 2005 08:28 AM (GMT)
Sorry to be misleading Manny, this film is well worth seeing, it's top notch entertainment. So don't worry about whether it's worth your cash, it is. I was just saying it's not trying to aim for the best drama Academy. :P

Ali G - April 2, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
I just came back from seeing it, and while it had some funny parts, I couldn't help but feel it was way more kiddy than any of the Pixar films, or even Ice Age.

Film Guru - April 2, 2005 09:36 AM (GMT)
You reckon it was kiddy? Huh, I didn't get that impression, at least comparing it to other animated films...

evO - April 2, 2005 12:27 PM (GMT)
Oh who cares, just fork out the $8.50-$12.50 and watch the damned movie. Don't pretend you have anything better to do anyway :P.

Manny M - April 2, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
Well, I did end up seeing it, and like FG said, Robin Williams was pretty much the saving grace of the movie. It wasn't bad, in fact, it was quite good, but the storyline was a little off, and there were so many random parts, I thought I was watching deleted scenes at one stage. Very wierd.

h&r - April 3, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
Sooo it's totally fantastic and certainly worth 12.50, except that Williams being loud and some SFX are its only saving graces aaand we're getting tired of AmeriCG anyway.

How was the Powell score?

Manny M - April 3, 2005 04:31 AM (GMT)
Was your first rambling, a question, or a statement?

h&r - April 3, 2005 06:13 AM (GMT)
Summary.

Ali G - April 3, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)
Ha, I loved the part when you saw toilet doors, one of them with a plug on it and the other with a powerpoint.

/backslash - April 3, 2005 08:50 AM (GMT)
Saw this last night. An alright film in the end, not great, just okay. Although I love Robin Williams, I didn't really laugh much

One thing that really pissed my friend & I is that we payed $15 each, and there was no staff around to tear our tickets and the cinema doors were wide open so we could've just breezed on through without anyone noticing.

Would've been good to see this on Tuesday for $5, but $15 is a complete ripoff

evO - April 4, 2005 01:01 AM (GMT)
$15!! The most i have to pay is $10.50 <_<. Ever. Well, until the end of this year at least.

That was terrible, but gained a laugh...

I await Gio's post with interest. I am intrigued as to how he will condense a 2 hour movie into his usual one sentence post.

Why thank you, good sir.

It was supposed to be terrible, the ol' "no you [are]" comeback. Maybe you're not familiar with it? :P

Watch and learn! :P

I liked the movie. It had robots.

Just kidding! <_<
It was a fairly good movie with lot's of humour. Robin Williams was the main source of laughs like the others said.
The graphics were nice. It's interesting looking at a living, breathing (well.. not.. <_< ) Robot city.
Overall it was a fun movie to watch. ^_^

Say, anyone's who's seen it. Is it worth 11 bucks (at the flicks) or 4 bucks (at the video store). Cos I haven't been to the walk-ins for many a year now and I kinda wanna go see something...

Manny M - April 5, 2005 12:11 PM (GMT)
I don't think any movies of this nature are a 'must see', at the cinema.

_MetalliX_ - April 5, 2005 12:21 PM (GMT)
At least Robin Williams is back, I loved his comedy, and he especially shone when doing voices.

Didn't you see The Incredibles? :D

[m]averick - April 21, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
Well, my nine-year-old cousin from Newcastle and her aunt were down for this week, so I took her to see Robots on Tight-Arse Tuesday. Luckily, I didn't pay for the ticket, my nan shouted us, because I have never seen such a poorly made film.

The lack of direction, the poor and unsophisticated, obvious humour was terrible, I laughed maybe once or twice, and the so called "hilarious" fart joke was a sad moment. I couldn't believe people laughed at that. That "joke" was the epitome of the movie, re-hashed and unoriginal jokes pandering to the lowest demographic.

All up: craptastic 2/10

Sorry for the poorly written review, I was gonna take my time, but breakfast calls me.
