Description: Movie four out Dec 1st - See page 4!

Check out this link. It has some great stuff about the new book and movies, plus the older stuff.

I have all the books and our family owns all the DVDs, so all I have to do is bother to pre order the next book. There has been alot of discussions regarding Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. if you don't know anything about it, poke around the link I gave you. Some interesting things:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Neither Voldemory nor Harry is the Half Blood Prince (HBP)

-Something small and back then insignificent from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will play a big role in HBP

-Harry will stay at Privet Drive for a very small time over the summer. Also, JK Rowling has stated that he will have moved out by chaper two.

-Chapter two is called "Spinners End". The lack of an apostraphie means that this is a place, not a person.

-The release date is July 16, 8:31pm worldwide.

-Harry can now do magic outside Hogwarts.

-Harry now owns Number 12, Grimmald Place.

-In HBP, there are 608 pages.

-We will see the OWL results for all the students.

-Neville will have a new wand which MAY be important to the story.

-We will have a new Minister of Magic

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Call me a nerd and die. :P

Also, check out Ron's Mullet in the 4th movie screenshots! No wait, what am I saying? Check out Hermione! :dance3:

I can safely say, I haven't analysed the sign and I'll read the damn book, but I couldn't give a shit when it comes out.

When do we get the Hermione hentai?

[m]averick - March 28, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
Can't be stuffed looking at that HTML heavy site, so someone post a picture of Hermione in the first movie, then one now. To cover all bases...

Okay, I worded it wrong. It is coming out exactly the same time all over the world, so that means in New Zealand it will come out 6:31am.

But HP discussion people!

I cant shake that the fanfare around this book is becoming too childish in some ways...the whole internet rumours about which characters like eachother and who will go on a date...smacks of trying to turn the series into something like the OC.

kami - April 3, 2005 12:10 PM (GMT)
How exactly is that childrish? Rather cliched maybe, but I think Childish would probably be more something along the lines of Ron pulling Hermione's hair :P

Comrade Natrak - April 3, 2005 01:35 PM (GMT)
No, all the gossip and stuff that's going on is childish. It sounds like the kind of thing to come from a playground conversation about the book.

JJJames7 - July 18, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
There are probably no people who have read it by now... but I have. Read it on the car trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. I'll say it's a good book, a a very good book. Perhaps my favorite in the series. If you want to know what happens but don't want to read the book, here's a run down:

SPOILERS

In chapter 3, Snape tells us (and two female death eaters) that he all along has been on Voldys side, and never with Dumbledore. The fucker. At the end of the book, he is the one who kills a weakened Dumbledore with Avada Kedavra. DD is pleading for DDs help as he is surrounded by Death Eaters, who break into the school with Draco Malfoys help, but Snape merely writes him off, without saying a word.

DD is weakened because of something he had to drink in order to destroy one of Voldemorts horcruxes.

Horcruxes were the most important part of book six, and the reason he cannot die. Voldy split his soul into seven pieces. One was in the diary, another in his fathers ring, one in his snake, nagini, one in a cave somewhere (where Harry and DD go to get it, and DD must drink something in order to get the horcrux, but he is weakened by it) and the last is in his body.

Harry hints, just after DDs funeral that he wants to go and live up at Godrics Hollow and look for the horcruxes, not to go back to the school, which they are thinking of closing.

They get a new teacher- but he teaches Potions. Snape gets the DADA job. The new teacher accepts an "E" (Exceeds Expectations) for his OWL classes in potions, which is what Harry gets. This is apposed to Snape accepting "O" (Outstanding); this means Harry can still be a auror.

Harry hooks up with Ginny Weasly and Ron hooks with Lavender Brown.

Harry is helped in potions by the "Half Blood Prince's" potion book, which has notes scribbled in it on how to do the potions. The HBP is Snape.

Therefore, the last book is probably all about getting the horcruxes and making Voldy mortal, therefore making him killable.

[m]averick - July 18, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
Haha, took me ages to get that spoiler thingy to work

Those spoilers are pretty majoe so don't highlight it unless you want the major plot twist ruined for you.

I said on Hyperactive that the killing of Dumbledore was just a shock tactic used by Rowling to hook readers in, but the way it played out was very cool. Obviously Draco is gonna cop heat from Voldemort for not killing Dumbledore and ruining Snapes cover, but I'm pretty sure Snape was always gonna switch sides in this book.

There's still alot of loose ends that need to be tied up and after finishing the sixth book last night (read it pretty much all day) I'm fairly sure that Ron and Hermoine are a sure thing to hook up.

And what exactly was the importance of the Half-Blood Prince? If any? All he did was teach Harry a few spells and help him kick arse at Potions.

The death of Dumbledore also makes it fairly obvious that Hogwarts will play a very small role in the seventh book (if any). Also, didn't Rowling say that the last word in the final book is "scar"? If so, it's gonna be pretty cool to see how it wraps up, because who is Harry going to be having that discussion with? (Assuming either Harry or Voldemort dies [the latter far more likely to do so])

JJJames7 - July 18, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
I'm trying to figure out why I didn't wonder who was at the school being Voldys servant when in the graveyard in book four, Voldy goes "One (Death Eater) is at Hogwarts, being a loyal servant, he will be rewarded greatley". I think I thought it was Karakoff, but he fled, and Voldy mentioned that.

I was certain I read on a website that the "Lion man" whos description was leaked some months before the book release was the description of the HBP, but he is obviously the new minister.

I hope these horcrux searches wont take up alot of the next book, but I mean he has to find like three or four of them? How is he going to find them all within a book that JK Rowling wants to be shorter than number five?

Also WHAT IS THAT THING! What was that final little thing that made DD trust snape completly? Ah the old duffer.

Interesting is the locket found instead of the horcrux.. R.A.B?

Didn't you get car sick?

I don't mind the series at all, but I think I'll wait for the screaming kids in capes and glasses to subside before I go pick up my copy.

I LOVE the car trips. I get to play games and listen to music without anyone telling me to do work for eight hours. :) They're even better with drunk relatives yelling at Collingwood supporters over the mic.

There's alot of talk on forums about weather DD was pleading Snape to kill him or not. Remember, he merely says "Serveus... please..." before Snape does it. We still don't know who's side Snape is on and what DD was pleading for. Also, in the lead up to the death of Dumbledore, why is he talking about death related things and telling Harry many awkward things, and saying Harrys blood was more important and the like? It's very fishy. Then again, as Snape says, it would take a simply extreme legimens to beat Voldemort into thinking he was on his side for real.

Everyone must read this. There are, of course, spoilers. You should enjoy it Mav.

Hello - July 19, 2005 07:52 AM (GMT)
I am reading 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'. This is because I never read it. It was never read, by me, because I was sick of the series. I think I just needed a break from Harry Potter - I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING THE LITTLE BITCH AGAIN.

thebigm - July 19, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
225 Pages in and loving it so far, has the same charm and suspense as the last 5 novels.

Only problem now is that my studies are taking a back seat, oh well shouldn't be too long till I finish.

We drive from Canberra to Melbourne and back all the time! :D

Car trips are fine, but I thought reading during car trips made people sick, I know it makes me sick.

~DC - July 19, 2005 12:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah it makes me sick big time. I've tried reading on a plane, and exactly the same thing happened too...

BrotherEstapol - July 19, 2005 01:43 PM (GMT)
Well I read one of the Halo books on one of my trips to Melbourne, and I didn't feel sick at all. :S

borgster101 - July 19, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
So it's a trade off between getting sick or getting bored for you guys on car trips? Ouch! :o

Snape is, by an absolute longshot, the best character is her book. Check out the thread over at Hyper, and keep some faith in ol' Snape.

Finally finished reading the book and wow that was unpredictable. Thought I spoiled it by accidently highlighting one of the spoiler posts, but I read it the wrong way luckily.

Actually any sort of medium whether it be games / books / anime which I had(ve) read, watched or played in a long periods at a time leaves me with an emotional attachment to it, although that usually only lasts till the next morning. Also makes it hard for me to think, like I should be now studying and finishing my Chemistry Assessment.

JJJames7 - July 22, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
So what exactly are the thoughts of Snape? Immideatly I thought he was dark again, however after reading many forums on the web, a few things have stuck out.

- The spider in book three, Cedric Diggory, Lily Potter... none of these flew ten feet when hit with Avada Kedavra. Therefore, why does Dumbledore? My guess is Snape uses a curse that propells him out the window without speaking it (which is why we are introduced to it). But, why would he do that?

- I think it's safe to say DD was pleading with Snape to kill him and furfill the Vow or whatever he needs to furfull. But, another but, Why was Snape showing "resolutions of hatred on the harsh lines of his face"?

There's a ying and yang for everything, and it's frustrating.

[m]averick - July 22, 2005 06:32 AM (GMT)
Your first point is ludicrous JJJames7. He is dead, no way around it. You can't say a killing spell and say some other spell in a non verbal means.

This is ridiculous. Posting in spoilers when people who haven't read the book wouldn't touch this thread with a 40 foot pole.

If you are in this thread and haven't read the book, you deserve to know that Snape kills Dumbledore.

My point still stands, you'd have to be an idiot to come into this thread before you've read the book. It wasn't like this was a small release where people forget the release date, this was a major book release which has been out for a week now.

Fuck you are a dickhead Mav!

I come into here to see what people thought of the book knowing full well our community members are smart enough to not reveal any spoilers, and then here you come along, being your usual dick self and spoil it for everyone.

Mav; If you wanted to disscuss the book without marking spoilers, perhaps you should have started a new thread instead of pissing off the userbase.

Haha, whoops.
