Title: God of War
Comrade Natrak - March 21, 2005 09:30 AM (GMT)
Wow, I really wasn't expecting much from this title. I always figured God of War would just turn out to be another mediocre action/adventure game. But by the sounds of things I was dead wrong.
Mind you
gamerankings.com only has three reviews listed so far but each of them are in the 90% range putting it at an early ranking at 97%
It looks like this is another game I'll want to purchase, damnit. :P
Buffoon - March 23, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was alerted to the high reviews this game had been getting last night, so I had a look at some screenshots, downloaded some videos and so on, and I guess there must be a lot more to it than I could discern because it looked pretty boring to me. But the reviews are remarkably high scoring. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now, but it would take a lot to convince me to buy it.

Gamespy's awesome review of GOD OF WAR!Wow! This game came through the back door or something? I never paid any attention to it. :P A friggin sleeper hit this one is! I'm so getting this.

Oh, and while we're on "sleeper hits", Wanda & the Collosus (ICO 2) is out soon. :dance2:
ElPresidente - March 30, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
I think this one has taken everyone by surprise. I'd heard the name but knew nothing about the title and then started reading up on it after the latest Penny Arcade comic. I NEED THIS GAME!
I just hope it doesn't get censored over here or I'm importing from the UK.
~DC - March 30, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
Just out of curiosity, what would be censored?
Comrade Natrak - March 30, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
By the sounds of things the game is very violent. There's a distinctive fatality for every enemy. Decapitations (on human enemies, anyway) were removed from Ninja Gaiden because it was deemed too violent, it wouldn't surprise me if God of War wound up in similar danger. :(
[DZ] - March 30, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
Yes, the violence is one thing, but the game also has some steamy lesbo sex scenes. And in the ESRB rating it sez God of War contains nudity. :woot: I so need this title!! :(
ElPresidente - March 30, 2005 11:15 PM (GMT)
Yes, there are even sex minigames where you fornicate with a harem of women to restore your energy or something. :P
[DZ] - March 31, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
I'd love see Hliary Clinton's face when she reads about or see's this game in action. Hahaha!! IMMORAL1ty!!1211!!!!
[DZ] - March 31, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
Eurogamer are ejaculating all over the place! They're so pumped about this game it makes you want it NOW!
To say we're looking forward to making our way through the 15-hour campaign would be an understatement, and it's no exaggeration to report that we're looking at the PS2's game of the summer already.Very impressive. :o
Sybatical - March 31, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
The graphics are awesome! Better then ICO!
ElPresidente - March 31, 2005 04:42 AM (GMT)
You can trust Eurogamer reviews 99.99% of the time.
Yug - April 12, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
Anyone got any idea as to when this game actually gets 'released' over here in the land of Oz?
[DZ] - April 12, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)
Hey, welcome Yug! God of War will probably not see the light of day in Oz. I think the OFLC probably got a heartattack when they play tested the game.
"Lesbo action? OMG! BANNED!"
Actually, GoW will be released between June and August. Check GamepowerAus.com
~DC - April 12, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
It will only be censored DZ.

Yeah, and then banned like Manhunt was. :P
Plus didn't you read my entire post?

~DC - April 13, 2005 08:39 AM (GMT)
Manhunt ended up banned?
I did read the rest of your post just though I should add that little fact. ;)
[DZ] - April 13, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
Manhunt got taken off the shelves. Maybe this game will too. All it takes is some freak story about some kid in Ecuador brutally killing his baby brother and saying he saw it in God of War.
...or an increase in open lesbian relationships by 15 y.o girls in the Vatican City.
evO - April 13, 2005 10:07 AM (GMT)
Or by girls in my school. Well, i won't be complaining :D
Yug - April 13, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
Just heard that another game wont be released here, NARC ... heres a quote:
Red Ant has today announced that NARC scheduled for release on PS2 has been banned from distribution in Australia. While details are scarce as the OFLC has not released its compulsory report as to why, we are guessing the drug usage in the game pushed it over the line and resulted in the 6-1 vote. With such a majority it is unlikely an appeal would be succesful and upon contact, Red Ant confirmed it was unlikely to do so. http://www.3davenue.com/1128.html Seriously, Australia just needs to get R ratings on its games and get over itself
Loach - April 13, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, does anyone know any good places to import games from NZ?
[DZ] - April 13, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
Wait, didn't you ask that same exact question once, like, a week or two ago?
I really don't know, I get my games from my place. NTSC.
Yug, maybe if all the Australian gamers flooded the OFLC offices non-stop with letters demanding an R rating they'll probably crack. Plus, why the fark did NARC get banned for "drug use" when the past three GTA games had more than that. Sex, blood, over the top violence (like the scene where the chopper slices the cop on your car's hood), stealing, lotsa drugs, profanity. And GTA is well known for all that!! WTF are they doing to poor NARC? :\
Loach - April 14, 2005 09:42 AM (GMT)
Yeah but no one answered me. Let's see if it'll happen again.
[DZ] - April 14, 2005 10:21 AM (GMT)
http://www.gpstore.co.nz/The only one I can recommend cos its the most popular.
Loach - April 15, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks man I'll check it out.
BrotherEstapol - April 15, 2005 03:58 PM (GMT)
Sorry, but what's the appeal of importing from NZ?
Comrade Natrak - April 15, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
He's worried about the game being censored in Australia. ;)
BrotherEstapol - April 15, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Well Manhunt didn't even get released over there(Refused Classification), so he'll either get an uncensored version, or no version at all. :P
[DZ] - April 15, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
WTF!! I thought Loach lived in London?? Thats why I've been wondering WTH would he want to import?!? :/
Loach - April 15, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
In case it gets banned/censored in London. I thought Manhunt was banned first in London?
BrotherEstapol - April 16, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
Not sure, but it didn't even get on the shelves in NZ, where-as it wasn't banned for a whole after release here in Australia.
I think you'll find that games aren't being censored here anymore, as they just can't be bothered. (e.g. GTA:SA)
[DZ] - April 16, 2005 07:15 AM (GMT)
Peppermint your PS2, Loach. Best thing I ever did for my gaming needs. You get uncut versions plus most games are early!! Just do it, it costs less than 50 bucks.
Loach - April 16, 2005 10:00 AM (GMT)
GTA: SA was banned?
I'll think about it DZ, might be the way to go.
BrotherEstapol - April 16, 2005 02:21 PM (GMT)

Nope, I was just saying that it didn't even get censored.
Yug - May 12, 2005 10:02 AM (GMT)
For what its worth, I sent an email to Sony Computer Entertainment asking why God of War is taking so long to be released over here in Australia. To my suprise, I actually got a reply! June 23rd. To read the full reply, just check out my last post at
