Title: Official GT4 Photo Mode Thread
Description: *Click*

TrinityJayOne - March 9, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
---RULES---
  • Post only links or a thumbnail, not the whole image. Not everyone has cable. ;)
  • Be a champ and post a description with your links, such as the model name and location.
  • If you're uploading your pictures to your own webspace, allow the directory to be read if possible, so that people can see all your pictures without searching the thread for links.
  • Comments and questions about Photo Mode are acceptable (including flash drives), but nothing else regarding the game.
  • I recommends using Imageshack to upload and automatically generate thumbs for pictures. It's free and no registration is necessary. I've been trying to implement imageshack's uploading feature into Evo, but Estapol is too lazy! :P - Civ
Enough people have the right equipment to get them onto the PC, I'm thinking we have a competition later. ;)

---LIST OF CONFIRMED WORKING USB FLASH DRIVES---
  • Apacer HandySteno 128Mb
  • Sony MicroVault 128MB (Any size, no doubt)

TrinityJayOne - March 9, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
My first car, complete with spoiler and mags. :cheese:

Trin's Hachi-Roku

How could an Initial D whore like me go past the Sprinter? :P

KickyFunkFresh - March 9, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
a bit dark isn't it?

fRaNkS - March 9, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Very dark =/.

I can't wait to get home :D

I'll possibly start uploading some pics tomorrow.

TrinityJayOne - March 10, 2005 05:20 AM (GMT)
Yargh, it's supposed to be a dark setting, don't you see the trees? :P Plus I've customized the output of my monitor somewhat, so everything looks brighter on my screen. Anyhoo, here's 2 more pics. :)

Zoom zoom!

Ohhh, what a feeling! :P

EDIT: Something else you chaps may want to be aware of, is that once you've put a photo onto a USB flash drive, you won't be able to view it within the game again unless you save it onto a memory card as well. For some strange reason the photo lab section only lets you load photos off memory cards, not a USB flash drive. :| I'd sure like to know why they did that, along with why you can't save replay data to a flash drive. :flamethrower:

EDIT MkII: Don't bother trying to catch a backfire on film, I tried for about 30 mins straight and I couldn't catch even one. Even if you press select the instant you hear it, it never shows up on the photo! :nooo:

TrinityJayOne - March 10, 2005 08:48 AM (GMT)
Ok, I was wrong about the backfires, I got one without even trying just before. :P

Bang!

Sightseeing at the Grand Canyon

Why am I the only one posting photos? Did the rest of you forget how to turn on your PS2's? :P

BrotherEstapol - March 10, 2005 09:40 AM (GMT)
Not everyone has a Flash-drive Trin, and perhaps they are actually playing the game instead. ;)

Comrade Natrak - March 10, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
Will, any USB flash drive work with the PS2? Because my dad has a few lying around, I could probably load some onto it if it works.

I'm assuming it would, but you never know. Take the PSX memory card issue for example- some work, some don't. :(

Civ- I much prefer uploading things to my own webspace rather than relying on someone else's service, but I do like those thumbnails. ;) Tell me more about this upload thing too. :)

EDIT:

My old links now no longer work. I auto-leveled the colors in Photoshop too so they look better now. :)

What the hell is that monstrosity you're driving, Natrak? :P

Was doing a race on Tsukuba today and went a bit too fast around the last corner, almost spun out and lost the race :argh:

As fun as it was I won't be trying that again.

Well, maybe just once more :P

Bah! You can have your Initial-D Rice Mobile! I'll take my stylish retro Chrysler 300C over it any day!:P

Seriously, the 300C is easily one of my favourite cars in terms of body work, it's one of the finest looking sedans out there. Monstrosity? hardly!

Anyway, I went and splurged on a Ford Falcon GT. :D

Mmm...Aussie Muscle.

Also, I noticed that if you save a photo to your memory card, then transfer it over to a USB Flashdrive the pictures come out really low quality.

Edit: More...

That's it I totally need this game asap. Curse you and your shiny Ford Natrak! :P

TrinityJayOne - March 11, 2005 09:41 AM (GMT)
Nice pics, Natrak. ;) I plan on getting the CV8 eventually, I tried it in the arcade and it's passable as a worthy addition to my garage. Still not sure on your 300C, looks like it weighs 5 tonne!

And wtf is wrong with imageshack?! I can't get to my images anymore, it just takes me to the homepage, if it even loads at all. Damn you Civic!!

Comrade Natrak - March 11, 2005 09:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the 300C is pretty heavy, it felt a lot better once I went through the 3 Lightening Steps.

Eyce - March 11, 2005 10:22 AM (GMT)
Now I'm missing out on realistic Drifting goodness. :(

Oh and Trin, I found out you can take pictures of ANY replay; granted you save it. Once saved, go to replay theatre, watch it and snap away. No need to just play in Photo Drive.

TrinityJayOne - March 11, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
None of my original pics are working either though, and they were before... And I know I chose the forums one, because they were working when I posted them. Even check the code in my post yourself if you don't believe me. :P

EDIT: BAH! Your hosting idea sucks, Civ. :P I'll fix all my images tomorrow.

EDIT2: Wtf, now some of mine are working, some take you to the homepage, and some take you to the image page, but the image isn't actually there. I selected them all and generated the code in one shot, so I don't see why the result is different. :S Maybe there's an error with the site?

BrotherEstapol - March 12, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
You guys need to get an FTP! :P

ElPresidente - March 12, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Just to add another to the USB Flash Drives that work with GT4.

BenQ Flash Drives work.

You might want to edit your original post Trin to have an up to date list of all working flash drives. I'm pretty sure all of them will work but if people don't have one already it would be nice for them to see brands they know they can buy with 100% security.

I don't know why it's not working with your pictures man. As you can see it works perfectly with mine, but I did have a problem with one of the images last night as it wouldn't load. I'm going to keep using imageshack until it doesn't work properly.

Natrak, great shots there. I like the green of your Falcon. :D

Here's a few experimental panorama shots I did last night with the legendary Skyline (N1). They're huge!

Panorama? Niiice. How do you take a Panoramic shot?

Is it just the vertical orientation rotated on it's side or something?

paulgusta - March 12, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
Say, how does one go about taking a photo from a replay? I read somewhere about hitting select... clarification get!

You can do that or go straight into Photo Drive mode, which is in your circuits. You can't take pictures of a replay from a race you just did, which sucks imo.

Natrak, basicaly pan or turn the camera to the next "frame" and snap it. Then put them together in Photoshop.

Nice shots there, Stuey. Love the backfire on the Z.

Comrade Natrak - March 12, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
You can only take a photo from a replay if you've just driven in PhotoDrive mode (in GT Mode take a free run on a track of your choice eg. go to World Circuits, Select Nurburgring, Select PhotoDrive Mode) and press select. It'll bring up a menu where you can choose a bunch of different camera angles and adjust different camera settings. Or, as Civ discovered, save a replay of any race, view it in Replay Theatre and press select to freeze it at any time and bring up the same photo menu.

Edit: yeah, what Civ said. :P

DJ-Civic - March 12, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Ok, I was JUST about to post all these when the power went out. Can you imagine how pissed I was?

Anyway, here's another experimental shot of mine. My white Skyline, NSX and Civic in the same corner. I think they're robbing the liquor store. :P

Hey Civ, do you put this much effort into everything else? Those pics are really cool - the Skyline, NSX and Civic shot is on my desktop. If you've got the Delorean can you take some pics of that? ;)

Nah, I do it the american way - half-assed.

Seriously, I find Photomode really cool so I try to take more interesting shots with it. I don't have the DeLorean yet but once I get it I'll post pics up. I know a certain Brother will like those. ;)

Natrak, I can't remember exactly how I unlocked it, but I swear it was in the beginner's challenges. I think it was the FR or MR challenge.

And thanks DC. :cheese:
