Title: Does this make me insane?
TrinityJayOne - March 9, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
The idea here is to post something that you've done or do often that you think is a bit abnormal, for the purpose of seeing what the rest of Evo thinks. Should you be committed? Does the rest of Evo do it to? Discuss! ;)
Mine is a simple one- I like the smell of dog kibble. I don't just mean I find it pleasant, I mean when I feed our dogs I think "god damn, that's some good shit!!". :woot: If you presented me with 2 plates, one with a steak & chips, the other with dog kibble, I'd probably rather smell the kibble. I don't actually eat it, I just really, really like the smell.
Am I insane? :P

No, but your nose is.

Sadly the taste isn't as good as the smell
<_<
Hello - March 9, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
I obsessively play with/worry about my glasses - to the point where, last year, I purchased about 15 different pairs. 7 or so of those pairs I had to replace, because I kept on bending the arms and playing with the nose-pieces etc, thus breaking them.
Some simple maths: 15 pair of glasses X $400 = $6,000 spent on glasses last year :o
Psycho! Norman Bates aint got nothing on me!
[DZ] - March 9, 2005 05:41 AM (GMT)
I like the smaell of benzene, burning grass, my fart, a new game, inside pages of gaming mags, burnt tyres, my PS2 when its hot, my keyboard, did I mention my fart?...
kami - March 9, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
Hmm, well I haven't quite smelt kibble myself, but I'd say there are stranger smells that people seem to like. I guess it just starts to get a tad concerning when you start trying to get high by inhaling the smell.
h&r - March 9, 2005 06:02 AM (GMT)
My sweat, overheating blackgoods, and the smell of National Geographic and Playboy (something to do with the binding glue/print trim). I'd sniff felt-tip markers all day too, but for the noxious fumes.
Start conversations with train commuters too, occasionally. Non-discrimination = mega cojones, here. Truth the Foremost. The tang of accomplishment lies in getting earnest replies to personal questions. Just trying to polish the people skills/unnerve snothead solicitor-types at Parliament.

I did not get that 2nd paragraph there h&r. I don't get most of your post!! :| I feel sorry for those poor train commuters. :(

Strangely enough, I agree with you here. It smells really nice.

I'm the only one around here who seems to love rain and storms. Everyone says "Oh we need rain, the grass is drying up" and so on, yet when rain finally hits (even if it's only one drop) these same people complain as if it is the worst thing in the world.
Not only does it piss me off, but I feel weird about being the only person who really has a good day when it rains and/or storms. Infact I eagerly await the day a vicious storm hits Canberra. That will be fun. :D
Insane or not?

Not in my books, I LOVE huge storms and lots of rain! :D
*moves to North Qld*
NismoR34 - March 9, 2005 12:53 PM (GMT)
You never told me that...
Oh, and I hope your move to QLD is more successful than mine. :P (man we seriously need rain or a storm or something though, this is fucking ridiculous)
Moggo - March 9, 2005 01:08 PM (GMT)
The electrical storms in Southern Queensland are mental. When we used to cop a big one, the blokes from the street congregated at out house (best view, you see), grabbed a beer and watched the storm play out. It was bloody brilliant, and tenfold better than anything on telly at the time.
Watching the lightning as it comes closer and viewing the rain pissing down like you've never seen before was one of the best bits about living in Brissie. ;)
Oh, and I have a weird one... I seem to like times when everyone is united in grief...

I think it's perhaps ingrained in society that rain is generally rather bad. Certainly it's vital given some of the shortages on water, but most activities tend to get rather interrupted by wet weather, hence rain being rather unappealing.
Still, the sound of rain can be rather therapeutic at times... assuming youdon't have more pressing matters.

Queensland's storms are just fucking awesome. When we took annual holidays there when I was a young lad, they were sweet and angry. I loved every minute of those storms.
Shame then that only 4 decent storms happened during my 3 month 'living' stay up there. <_<

Majority rules again. I hate society and its 'ways' sometimes. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with rain? I guess I'm the only one who is still willing to continue with any event, even if rain is falling. I love it.

Yes, though it is a tad disturbing to know that you're inhaling bacteria. Bacteria that's probably unlikely to cause an infection, but it's still perhaps a little unsettling nevertheless (Even though there's already a whole lot of bacteria inside our bodies anyway :) )

I'm not much of a rain fan myself. The rain stops me from doing things I normally like to do, like hitting the beach, going for a walk, or just heading out to town at night (which is a bitch in the rain).
I'm a sun and summer fan, through and through.

I love falling asleep to rain, i'm not sure why but it's really soothing and it smells really nice. I love electrical storms too, and as Moggo said, the ones is Brisbane are awesome :D.
I like the smell of petrol (no, i don't sniff it :P) and the smell of Deep-Heat (the muscle warming shit that i use for footy). Now that i think about it, most people i know HATE Deep-Heat, i absolutely love it.
Ali G - March 11, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
Dr. Pepper. That is the best soft drink ever. Most people hate it...

Dumping a bucket of water over your head doesn't saturate you like rain does. I prefer rain thanks. :P

I on the other hand would still hit the beach, or go for a walk in the rain. It doesn't phase me at all if I get wet. Heck, I'd probably even go out to town at night in the rain...

TrinityJayOne - March 11, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
I too love the smell of petrol, and engines in general really. :) I once had an idea to make one of those magic tree thingies that smells like petrol, but I can't think of any way to do it that wouldn't be a fire hazard. :P
Hello - March 11, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
Dip one of those car tree freshners in a litre of petrol, then cook it in the oven on 220, and then you'll have your car smelling like petrol.

I this heard on the radio last night, some guy had no money and was looking for a way to get drunk. He mixed petrol and milk and decided that was good enough for him. Of course, he threw up eventually, but he chose the throw up into the fireplace, which then caused an explosion, killing him and his sister.
Tragic..
