Yo.

This might be old news, but a contact at Ubisoft just informed me that the PC hit America's Army is on it's way to the Xbox. Below is the email I received:

Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that America’s Army®: Rise of a Soldier™ will be available in Winter 2005 for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. Ubisoft and the U.S. Army are working together to develop a new and unique experience for console gamers that features all the action-packed realism that players have come to expect from the America’s Army game brand. With unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the military experience of the U.S. Army, Ubisoft is creating the most cutting-edge military console game ever, which will offer a real contemporary experience through true-to-life character progression via an all-new Career mode and gameplay

About America’s Army®: Rise of a Soldier

Built in partnership with the U.S. Army, and developed by Secret Level, America’s Army®: Rise of a Soldier™ offers the most true-to-life Army experience, allowing you to create a soldier and take him through the thrills and adventure of an army career. Intense single-player missions and high-adrenaline multiplayer action build the skills of your soldier and advance him through his career.

Key Features

· Unique Career Mode: Unparalleled character customization allows you to create a soldier and take him throughout his career – from recruit to Special Forces team leader.

· Exclusive U.S. Army License: Real Special Forces operatives are consulting with game designers to ensure the highest level of realism in any military console game in existence. Authentic weapons, equipment, and combat situations come straight from the U.S. Army subject matter experts.

· Play it your way: America’s Army®: Rise of a Soldier™ has no linear campaign design; players can choose their own career paths. You can focus on certain army roles (marksman or grenadier for example), or experience different roles in your goal to achieve Special Forces qualification.

· Intense military action: Quick reflexes, strategic planning and the use of teamwork are mandatory to succeed in army missions, which plunge you into ultra-realistic combat scenarios.

· Multiplayer: America’s Army®: Rise of a Soldier™ will offer a top-notch multiplayer experience with up to 16 players online. Career mode will also be brought to online play, allowing players to create and build online characters.

There's also some screenshots, but I don't have picture hosting capabilities. IF you really truly want them, use Google. Or message me. It does look swish.

I thought this game was free on PC because you can only download it, or am I wrong?
I sure wouldn't pay full price if you can get free on PC.

I might rent it to see if I can get kicked out of the army by hitting on a fello officer

Whilst it is free on the PC, you'd probably be hard pressed to expect the XBox version to be free. Still, I might get this game depending on how it turns out.

Hey, at the very least we should support this game since it's Ubisoft and not EA :P

A contact? Isn't that just the Ubi newsletter?

Anyways I wouldn't pay for it...

Well, maybe my contact is just syphoning me the Ubisoft newsletter. Since I don't get the newsletter, it could well be it.
