Start the rumor mill, Sega has just announced a mystery briefing at E3 that could shock the world.
In less than two weeks time, on Wednesday, May 12, Sega will surprise the gaming world with an announcement from their booth at E3. According to an e-mail sent out to various media outlets this morning, the announcement will take place at 10:00 AM PST, and last for approximately 30 minutes. Sega is calling it an "Explosive Announcement Event".
In addition to the big announcement, the mystery briefing will also unveil the latest titles from Sega. Many people have speculated that Sega will announce Shenmue III exclusively for the Xbox, but the sheer magnitude of this event seems to point to something bigger. Stay with us as we'll have coverage of the event from the E3 show floor. |
SourceSurely it couldn't be a new console. There is no way the market can support four consoles, just look at how many third parties are dropping their GC support. If I had to guess it is most likely a sequel to Streets of Rage, Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon or possibly all three.
I am all for the Shemenue III announcement. :)

There's always talk of some MASSIVE announcement, which always ends up being a bit of a disappointment. In this case a massive announcement would be that they were creating a new console, but I think that this is highly unlikely.
So while it probably is the Shenmue III announcement, I wouldn't call that worthy of an explosive announcement.

A new Sega console would simply rock!
I simply love the Shenmue series to death. I have the original and sequel on the Dreamcast and also purchased the remake of the sequel on Xbox. An announcement of this kind would certaintly restore some faith that Sega aren't relying on remakes to provide success and hopefully it could signal a return to form for the company back to when they were tuning out sucess after success with games from the Dreamcast console.
Whatever the outcome I'm sure that it will definitely be something that gamers will be licking their lips in antcipation for.

*gasps* Sega are becoming a second party developer for the Infinium Labs Phantom console :ph43r:!! <_<
I really really dont want them to be announcing a new console... yet. Ive spent enough money recently as it is and Im still yet to really start building my PC. As long as its tied into either xbox, gamecube or the reincarnation of the saturn I'll be happy with it ^_^

The Japanese are always using overly descriptive words. Like the 'Super-Happy-Funtime-Hour', I watched that hour and I tell you, I had fun, but not 'Super-Happy' fun. :P

Woah, Shenmue III going Xbox-exclusive is the bst news I've heard all week.
I doubt Sega will make a new console.. Though if they've made such a fuss about it.. It would be very cool if they had.

A new Sega Console would be the best news I've had all year, although I'd be equally happy with the 'Shenmue III' announcment. :)
Oh and hey there GT2. :)

Bump.
Sega's Big Announcement should be today (US). Streets of Rage would be amazing. Mabye even a re-make of Golden Axe Xbox style? Hopefully it's Shenmue III, but we'll have to wait and see.
