Title: Star Wars: The TV Series?
Film Guru - April 30, 2004 04:06 AM (GMT)
News has been circulating for some time Star Wars is coming to the small screen, and the Force.Net has just confirmed it. It is not yet known whether it will be animated or live action, but there is amazing potential for the greatest sci-fi series ever. However, potential doesn't mean much, as it could turn out to be the biggest joke in TV history. What are your thoughts on this? Psyched? Upset? Not sure? What would you do with the TV show?
Discuss. :)

An animated series has already begun called the Clone Wars. It has been written by the writers behind Samauri Jack and retains the same kind of artistic style.
So essentially it has already been on the small screen for some time.
I don't know what to think about this new television show yet, mainly because practically no information is available about it. I'll wait until more news is available before bracing myself in antcipation.

Indifferent. If it was good, I'd probably watch it. If it was crapola, I'd only watch a few episodes. I'm not a great SW fan, but I've seen all the movies, and it would be bad if the TV show wasn't up to scratch.
Either animated or live-action would be interesting, but I think if they want to get the big audience, then they would have to go live-action.

Personally, having thought the Micro Series wasn't half bad, I'd love to see a proper TV series. I'd love it to be set either in the Clone Wars, or well before the prequels took place, where all the action was. Oh, and you gotta go live action...

Well I'd doubt they would release another animated series would they? The only way it could stand out would be to make it live action but then complications would arise as to signing actors and a conflicting cast list between the show and the films. If they decided to introduce a new cast they would drastically have to alter the storyline and what time frame it was set in. Personally I think that would result in an uninteresting show with a weak Star Wars theme.

Cool as!!
Hope it is live action but it will have to be well done, not like The Phantom Menace or that Ewok movie. Something around the Clone Wars or after Return of the Jedi would be good.

Yer yer, I remember hearing something about this. Its a neat idea but would have to be quite well put together for me too watch it. I wouldn't want to see some low budget, poor acting sci-fi like those ones they show on foxtel all the time.
I too would prefer to see something after Return of the Jedi, I think it would be a more engrossing watch.

If they make it as good as the clone wars series, i'll be happy. I'm not a mega star wars fan, but those episodes were alright!

I'd like to see a SW TV show, but I'd prefer not to have it focus on the main characters. I'd like to see it follow Rogue Squadron or something like that. I reakon it's be a hoot to see the Rogue Squadron books and comics made into a TV series. I think the conversion wouldn't be that hard either.
And I've finished watching all the Clone Wars cartoons too. General Grivous is kick ass. Can't wait to see him kill some Jedi in Ep 3.

They could make a comedy series called "The Control Center" which is basically a rip off of The Office but the setting is the Death Start Control Center!!! :P
(it would include Office Lightsabre Duels)

HA HA HA!!! That's gold! Damn, that would be awesome. A Death Star version of The Office. Brilliant! *goes off to make a short film based on that concept* :P

I reckon that would be another boring. I would rather have some characters that are from the flicks, as hard as it may be to attract their services for a television series.

Have you read the rogue squadron books DC? Because it sounds like you havent. Those books are far from boring, and have much more scope for a television series than the already milked events surrounding the movies.
In any case, I recommend you read the rogue squadron series. Its a must for any star wars fan.

I've read some of them but I am unsure as to whether they would work well as a television series.

The thing about it is that the Rogue (maybe even Wraith) Squadron books/comics would be fairly easy to make into a TV series, espcially Wraith Squadron stuff, as there's hardly anything written about them. I reakon it would be great. A break from the main SW characters, but that's not to say that you couldn't have cameo appearences, especially if you do Rogue Squadron with Wedge Antillies in it.
I think I used espcially too much in this post.

I'm a big Star Wars fan but I don't think this a really good idea. Still, wouldn't hurt to try. It could even turn out half decent.

Im not to sure of this, it just wont feel like star wars, maybe a mini series but no way could it work as just a normal series, it would ruin it.
