Title: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

Well this title needs little introduction, but I am wondering about those of you who are in the Open Beta, with myself participating in it shortly, (once I get my new comp), till then I can just download the file and get my CD Key.
The beta is a multiplayer one and I for one can't wait to play.
Here's a link for the Beta:

Any mirrors? I can't stand File Planet.

Has anyone played the demo for Chaos Theory? I've never played even the tiniest bit of this series myself but decided to have a look anyway.

Currently on 21%, this demo comes in at 603mb so it's taking me awhile.

There's a link to it on eurogamer.net

I got the demo yesterday, it sure looks awesome as hell, very nice lighting, and the character model of Sam Fisher is possibly the best I've ever seen.

However, I've never really gotten into this series, much as I'd really like to. Why? I'm too impatient to handle this sort of game. I hate that about myself, but it's true. I get sick of waiting for the guard to turn around and walk away, so I shoot him, which of course gets me shot. I get tired of lurking in the shadows so I just come out all guns blazing, which really, really, really doesn't work in Splinter Cell. In any case, before I get into Chaos Theory, I'm definitely going to have one more crack at the original and Pandora Tomorrow.

Anyhoo, the demo looks fantastic. As to the gameplay, you'd be better off asking someone with a deeper appreciation of such things :P

Well looks like I'm not going to bother with that demo, yesterday it was on 21% but I cancelled it not long after because for some reason my internet was just chugging along.

Today I was downloading it and around 100kb/s which really still isn't that awesome but it would have been done in at least two hours. It gets to 97% and then decides it won't go any further  Piece of shit.

Heh... I just (FINALLY) got ADSL, it's only 512k so the most I can hope for is 50KB/s, but compared to the 5KB/s I was getting on dial up... it's bliss.

Well I'm on 512k as well and I was getting a 100kb/s like 80% of the time, only dropping as far as 60kb. But the first time it was painful on like 16kb/s so who knows what you'll get.

I download at around 100kb/s and it was done in about 40 minutes...

Anyways, there are no checkpoints, which really sucks, because if you die you have to restart the entire mission.

No checkpoints, no... but you can save it at any point, right?

You can save at any point, but I tend to... not
